Forget about fairness, asking jagex for fairness is like asking them to drop new rares in next Chrismas.

(Speaking of rares, I play this game since 01 but didnt get a chance for a rare because I dont have a pc at home and I can only access runescape during computer lessons. When my neighbour finally got a pc, they start dropping bunny ears... unfair :( )

There is some a difference between pure essence and rock climbing boots. Pure essence didnt introduce more gp into the market. Boots however has the potential of adding 45k per boots into the market, if everyone decides to alchemise it.

This of cause didnt happen in reality. Alching the boot was ridiculously expensive except until now that the price has dropped near its alch price. Many chose to sell it to ge instead. Selling to GE and reused by someone else who doesnt want to pay for full itself doesnt generate gp.

However, there are someone who do foolishly alching the price despite a huge price difference, there are youtube videos and forum pictures about it (some are even our comrades in tipit...). This did generate more supply of gp into the market. It is unknown how many boots has been alched and how much gp has been generated... But as far as the GE goes, stuff did rise for a while. However this effect didnt last as long as the prenerf 26k or 76king. CTI is dropping back recently. This might be caused by more coin moving towards these boots, just like what someone has said before in this thread (think about prayer and herb update).

So whats the effect overall? Not much except for a quick rise and drop in price. No inflation or deflation, whatever you call it.

I made a few hundred k alching my boots, which I am now using to pay for planks to get my construction up to 68 to do the new quest.

The only lesson I learned was that I need to join this clan that was stockpiling them the day before. If they've got some inside scoop, I want in on that cash cow the next time something like this comes along.

OMFG!!!!1 EVERYBODY PANIIIIIC!!!!111ONEONEONE

srsly. chill a bit. yes, the update was stupid, and they only woulda had to raise price to about 20k for them to be less used,(or just kill the str bonus, but then everyone would be panicking more) but everyone is overreacting. this wasn't an item that people hoarded, simply because they were easy to replace. its not gonna end the economy. it may cause a small bump in inflation short term, but we'll live.

(note, in no way am i for what they did in this update, its jsut that the sky is not falling.)

I agree with you. Really, the world is not ending. A lot of people around here seems to think that the economy will be seriously affected. It won't. Take it easy, it is just a couple of boots.

the economy is already curupt by merchanting cc's and its time jagex fixes its mistakes starting with the rock climbing boots then next will probably be the whip

Don't worry, I fixed it.

Market only fails when nobody bother to trade, which isnt the case now.

It is the people who are corrupted. Merchant clan doesnt work without followers.

Btw, i dont think they need to do this to fix whip, all they need to do is increase/decrease the drop rate.

A few Pmods have loose lips (Must take after the Jmods), and this was leaked from the Player Moderator forums. I just thought it was cute.

Climbing Boots Leak

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

P Mod: There's been a ton of rumors circulating around the net about a possible leak regarding the climbing boots update. Players have been claiming people made hundreds of millions of GP off it. It's been a huge problem in Mod MMG's clan chat.

Mod Calm: There was one confirmed minor leak, unfortunately. A staff member from the community management team had, according to what I know so far, given certain players prior notice to the update, who in turn told some of their friends. This is currently under investigation.

P Mod 2: So what should we tell other players if they ask us about this?

Mod Calm: Try to ignore the subject.

P Mod 2: The persistent players?

Mod Calm: You can tell them there were no leaks.

P Mod 3: I've seen a couple videos where players showcase over 100k boots. Are they actually real?

Mod Calm: Most of them are not. The highest amount of boots we've seen on a single account is roughly 91k.

P Mod: Will the players who bought out climbing boots before the update be banned?

Mod Calm: Nope.

I have some friends who will screenie it shortly.

Just thought I would open up a whole new can of worms for you all to feast on. It's from their routine Pmod In-game meeting surgeries.

Your naive if you didn't already know that all updates are leaked.

Even team LeBum leaked his departure before his 1 hr special "decision 10".

"its not about money, because you get more from shoes, its about stacking the deck so you look like a winner.", says LeBum.

Anyhow, I see addy boots are soaring to probably about 45k.

Nice update, really something to be proud of Jagex.

What exactly is so wrong with LeBrons desicion? Should he have stayed in Cleavland, a city often noted for it's tragic sports record and horrible economic climate with a team that would win 20 games without him, or play with his 2 best friends for a franchise of sunshine and no tax while destroying teams even without a supporting cast? He sacrificed his ego and a boatload of money, while knowing the fans would hate him to arrive at the only port that matters for him- an NBA championship. Having already given everything he could for 7 years without so much as a whiff of thanks, I think he made the right desicion.

OT: Oh... it's great to finnaly get conformation about the leak, although i've ben told about it all along by a bunch of PMods.

How about the way he handled it? NBA version of the bachelor tv show with a 1 hr special ending that overshadows the whole league.

It takes alot of hubris to do that.

That last statement of yours is just stupid.

Given everthing? Gee how about him quiting when ahead against the Celtics just 2 months ago.

7 years without thanks? Gee I don't know how being treated like "the King" for the last 7 years. So many fricken billboards that bear "witness" to LeClown.

LeClown is about to get disowned by his "beloved hometown" of Akron, so he better pack his bags REAL soon.

Because it is unheard of for any professional athlete to move out of their home state right? Oh wait...it's not.

The "[wagon]" chant that they sent him off to is what I would call thanklessness, and the only reason that such a big deal was made was because fans(and othe rpeople like me who legitimately don't care at all about basketball) had nothing better to do. Lebron barely did anything personally, all the hype was from the media/fans, and then the media/fans blame him for the hype.

Also, placing a champinchip over profits is more respectable than the actions of a lot of athletes' actions in my opinion.

Before anyone says this is all off topic...

Who caes? This was a [i'll let you insert an adjective to suit your personal expectation of my degree of distate] topic to begin with, the effect from the boots was/is negligible as expected.

I've read it as well, a very long forum post. Enjoyable read though. Also, whats very interesting to see is this:

Mod Calm:

The highest amount of boots we've seen on a single account is roughly 91k.

Oh? I thought Mod Mark said the max was something around 3k?

I'm pretty sure that he said that's the most he has seen himself, not including all the staff

Nevermind, looks like he said that to make players feel better about it.

And the whole coverup afterwards, good job lieing and deceiving.

This probably doesn't matter the slightest to most of you, but if the person who leaked this was in the community management team, then his/her name is most certainly James C, since he/she is the only one not in that team anymore. Having a name on the sinner will make some of you able to sleep I hope. See, me being really offended by this un-needed update from Jagex, and even ragequitting due to it, used my superior stalkish skills to find out who worked for Jagex at the night of the update (it's on their website, wasn't too hard to find). I then saved that list in Word and compared it to the current staff of today, July 12th. There have been several persons quitting/getting sacked in this short time, so it seems this update did effect Jagex after all. :)

Well according to my friend who went combing through the PMod forums looking for this, he says that that tidbit of information is not/no longer there. So it was either removed due to the fact that Jagex knew someone spilled the beans about it and told people, or the second hand information I received from a different mod friend is false. So at this point there won't be a screenshot provided at all, as the only way there could be one now is if someone either took it before the info was removed (assuming it was there to begin with), or someone would fake it.

So really it's up to your own judgement now on this one. I personally don't have any faith in Jagex anymore in terms of honesty, what with their history of secrecy, and horrific track record.

I'm inclined to think it's prbably fake -- why would your second mod friend go to the trouble of copying and pasting the entire thing into script format when a simple print-screen would be both easier and more believable?

If you're trying to fake from scratch, however, a script is obviously much easier to do.

I have a couple of friends who are Player Mods, but who I don't think are loyal sycophants, so they would probably have been openly critical of this.

I am not saying that mod post is not true but it probably should not be believed until atleast some effort is put into proving it.

I doubt a jagex would admit to their mistakes even non directly like that.(Biggest clue. ) Even less likely to admit to a mod leak. Even MORE unlikely to suggest players covering it up...?

..Nah. However it is possible some idiot employee did post it. Just there aint no proof in any for form. Anyone could of wrote it.. Very convenient its on a fmod section and probably vanished now I presume.

Tbh they do need to admit to mistakes but if a 'leak' did happen then perhaps thats an internal problem anyway idk.

I thought it was funny seeing how the Jmods dont communitcate well. MMG said the largest amount of boots he saw on an account was <3k. Another mod said he saw 91k. One mod says there is a leak, one mod denies it.

LOL

If there was or wasn't a leak, it doesn't really matter to much, especially in the long term of the economy.

The old climbing boots shop had a stock of 20 that took almost a day to go back to maximum stock. Even if a select few players knew about the update a week ahead of time, at most they could buy from their own stocks a hundred or so boots.

Boots were not really buy-able on GE (one reason for this whole update), so we know the people didn't get any from there either. The only way they could of gotten a hold of more boots is player to player trades. And player to player trades didn't really "create" any boots, it just transferred them from a player to a player.

Not only would the people who had the heads up need time to gather enough boots for it to matter, but they also had to have a serious cash pile and/or "rare" items to persuade other players to actually trade them the boots. Unless they knew about the update several weeks in advance (which is highly unlikely at the rate RS rumors spread), then IF players had inside info it still wouldn't of mattered.

All this would of done is transfer boots from a player who already had a bunch to sell, and would have gotten all that GP from the update anyways.
