Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

It looks pretty good from the trailer hopefully Yates can do this book justice...HBP was horrible! I felt so robbed at the end of that one. Mainly, I just want the final battle in part 2 to be epic. It needs to extensively cover the fighting of all the characters (not just HP and Vold) and in my opinion should be at least 1/2 hr if not 45 mins.

Should be cool. The wait between the first and second part will be a [bleep] though. Pretty much guaranteed cliffhanger ending for part 1.

[hide=spoilers for the ending of part 1]

It will end after Harry and the gang get caught by the Death Eaters and are being escorted to Malfoy mansion.[/hide]

My opinion of the series quickly degenerated from 3-5. OotP is such a failure - a real horrible failure. I, on principle, hate the movies since the books are far superior. But, I actually thought HBP was really well done. I think they managed to fit in what was needed (aside from making the whole vanishing cabinet plot really... drawn out and obvious).

I'm very excited for DH and even moreso that they're making it in parts. Anything that lets them pay more attention to the detail and stop raping the original books is good to me. I can't wait for it. It's very much a love-hate thing for me. I really enjoy seeing the books made into movies, but I REALLY hate what they do to the books in the process. STOP ADDING IN NEW CRAP FFS!!!

I am a die hard Harry Potter fan so... :P

Haha, same, I always rage when they add some random stuff in there. GRRRR THAT NEVER HAPPENED IN THE BOOK! I guess they cut so much out sometimes they have to change it up a bit.

Pretty keen to see these last "two" movies, I'm glad they didn't skimp out and cram it all into one movie. I can't actually remember if I've seen the HBP... When did it come out again? I don't remember seeing it, well at the movies at least.

I was impressed with the trailer until it said it was going to be in 3D, like they need to add a pointless gimmick like that to draw the masses in.

My thoughts as well. I probably won't watch the 3D one. But I don't mind these movies, even though I prefer the books.

That confirmed? Would have guessed it would end after that part.

It was said by David Yates (director) in an interview. So I assume that makes it confirmed.

Who was that guy that was stopping the Hogwarts Express in the trailer? I wasn't paying much attention. Was that even in the books?

The focus of the book was on Harry, Ron and Hermione the entire time. Maybe something about the Hogwarts Express was mentioned, but I can't seem to remember it.

looks pretty decent, actually. doesnt the 7th book have almost nothing to do with hogwarts? my memory is a bit fuzzy, having read this book the summer it came out and thats it, but isnt this book all about the trio finding and destroying horcruxes?

Agree 100%. 3D movies are almost always half assed and annoying to watch. I can get so much more into the movies when they're good old fashioned 2d.

Definitely. That'll be a real cliffhanger for those who haven't read the book, although I do wonder how they'll do the opening of the second.....

The end/climax is set at Hogwarts, but the majority is set away from it, if I recall correctly.

It might be one of the Carrows, I seem to remember one of them boarded the train in the book to try and find Harry. I could be totally wrong though.

If it is, it doesn't seem very faithful to the book's portrayal of him. Wasn't he supposed to look generally incompetent and weak?

I mean, that guy's got a [bleep]ing cape. And a beard. That's badass.

Meh, I think most of the actors and their acting was pretty spot on for the characters, barring the new Dumbledore.

The old Dumbledore was just... perfect... but tbh even if he hadn't died, I'm not sure he would have been able to pull of the EPIC DUMBLEDORE that comes out in OotP & HBP. I didn't like the second Dumbledore at first, but I guess he *kind* of grew on me.

As for the train... the trio aren't anywhere near Hogwarts so they're (and therefore we're) not really aware of anything like that happening. So looks like some crap they added in <_<

I also can't imagine the old Dumbledore fighting against Voldemort, but I definitely would have loved to see it.

The question is, what will they do since they never mentioned Winky and never brought back Dobby. WHY THE HATIN' ON THE HOUSE ELVES!

This looks like it will be good.

Also, how will they bring in the wedding when bill was only seen in the postcard in PoA, Fleur was also never brought back. What about Shell cottage? THE PREVIOUS MOVIES MESSED THIS ONE UP!

I LOL'D irl.

While it may have nothing to do with the book or movies, it would have been awesome to see Richard Harris as Dumbledore battling Voldemort. XD

Never liked the movie but I'm definately going to see part 2 of the Deathly Hallows because of the final battle at Hogwarts. Should be epic.

Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.

That's my take on it too.

So much stuff got cut out of previous movies that they essentially have to fabricate things now to make the last two make sense. Should've just followed things, even if they were "tedious" at least it would've made sense. Harry was meant to bail from the wedding at the burrow, but since that got burnt down in HBP I'm guessing he'll have to bail from the train.. and that's their way of writing out bill/fluer, shell cottage (I assume they escape to grimwauld pl despite it being open to death eaters after the ministry raid, etc) and whatever else.

I don't even know if I can justify spending money of seeing it at the cinema. HBP was a complete failure.. get to the end expecting some badass battle and they just walk through the school with almost 0 resistance.. total [cabbage] really.

Edit: I'll like to add that I'm not an obsessive fan over these books (wait till the Tomorrow When the War Began movie comes out for some epic hate - if required, then you'll see a difference :P) but looking at the movies while trying to block out all i know of the end result.. they make very little sense.

Bill and Fleur are in it and there are pics of the Shell Cottage set floating around. I get the impression that they're serious about a faithful adaptation this time around, even if the previous movies seem to make that impossible. I want to know how they expect to make them finding Horcruxes believable when they left out the memory scenes in HBP that gave Harry and Dumbledore clues to what they even were.

I understand why they left out the battle at the end of HBP, even if I didn't like it. It would give the battle in DH a certain sense of redundancy. Yes, the final battle is bigger and more epic, but if you've already seen something similar on-screen it takes away from it a bit. But taking that battle out is one of the two big problems with an otherwise excellent movie, the other being the lack of memories. The whole plot with Draco trying to fix the cabinet, so he could let in Death Eaters, makes no sense without a reason for the Death Eaters to be there, i.e. resistance in the castle.

Even though the movies have, in my opinion, all been a disappointment when compared to the books, I am looking forward to watching this: in two parts, it should be significantly better. Although when the books are so much longer, I'm not sure how much of an improvement it will really be.
