I wanted to play Sith Sorcerer so I played Jedi Sage in the beta to get a feel for it and it stuck, so I'm a Sith Sorcerer. Saying that I have 7 other characters set up of the other 7 classes.

Haha same here :P Actually I have a few more since I have two servers to look after :ohnoes: I'm living in the UK so I wanted to play on an EU server but I found out some old friends from LOTRO are playing so I wanted a character or two on their server as well.

I originally wanted a Sith Sorcerer as well.. but I got kind of turned off when I saw that everyone and their mother was playing that class. I know that probably shouldn't affect my decision but.. meh :P After much bouncing around (and playing a Smuggler to level 15 before finally deciding I didn't like the combat mechanics), I think I've decided on playing a Jedi Knight but leaning towards the dark side :P

Give yourself to the Dark side.

I'm thinking about maybe getting this game, but I just want to know: Do you really have to play with other people? I've always liked being a lone-wolf sort of deal, unless playing with real life friends.

DO YOU HEAR THE VOICES TOO?!?!

You can very easily play alone. Just skip the heroic quests (although honestly some of them can be soloed).

The heroic quests are like those... flashpoints or something? I've watched some Achievement Hunter videos on those, so yea I'd probably skip some due to the intense bosses.

Heroic quests are just quests intended for groups of people :)

Ok cool. I bought the game, installed it over night and am about to start it. I'm thinking of going with the Trooper class, which I'd assume means I'd be tanking a lot?

Yeah Trooper is a range tank class, which is quite interesting :P

Troopers themselves are ranged, but the Vanguard advanced class is pretty much a close range class. They have a few 30m abilities, but the majority are sub 10m. If you want to be range then you should pick the Commando advanced class when it comes to the choice. To put it down simply, the two advanced classes. Vanguard is mid/close range Tank/DPS and Commando is Ranged DPS/Healer.

The game is rather laggy for me :S, ESPECIALLY indoors. (god help me if I need to go up a ramp indoors) I have 7 gb of ram, which I'd assume to be plenty for this game, so I'm guessing it's my graphics card (I'm not good with computer tech >.>) or processors. But otherwise, I quite like the game.

I have 8GB of RAM (and I even played on another computer with only 4GB) and it runs perfectly fine. So yeah, it's probably a good guess that it's your graphics card. That's really the most important component for games.

[hide=SWTOR Classes Chart]swtor_classes.jpg[/hide]

^ I found that when I first started SWTOR and it was super helpful in figuring all the classes out.

I mostly pvp, and ive noticed that the classes to watch out for are the ranged dps'ers. Especially with the gunslingers/ops with their stealth/heal abilities it seems close to impossible to kill them off even AFTER the several nerfs lol.

The games great up to 50. Storylines are cool, cutscenes are awesome, the classes are pretty fresh compared to other mmo's, etc. What I noticed though is that the game REALLY lacks in endgame content. 3 pvp warzones (huttball ROCKS) got old really fast but grinding 60 valor probably didnt help. I think the games real strength is that because of all the different story lines you can reroll as new classes and the game still feels different every time.

I dont play as much as I was over winter break but if anybody wants to play with me heres the server im on and everything :)

Server: The Maw

Republic Side Toons:

lvl 20 (at time of writing this) Trooper Commando named Nashville

Empire Side Toons:

lvl 50 Assassin named Georgia

lvl 25 Bounty Hunter Powertech named Jimi

yeah to be honest I dont agree with that imp to pub ratio they have since Ilum is basically 10 imps for every 1 pub lol.... but the class descriptions and all is pretty good for somebody starting out.
