He does, he's making a point that pures are stupid and it's better to just be balanced.

 

level 60 with 50 def, who safes at 90% health and has melee prayer on constantly.

 

Is this out deep? if so thats a dream come true.

And pures are not stupid, balanced stats are terrible for pvp worlds/bh up untill your around 120+ combat. And even then at that point everyone has nearly equal stats. making it more of a money vs money fight.

 

Pures limit themselves by sacrificing defence and are generally terrible at boss hunting,slaying, and other things balanced mains are good at.

Mains limit themselves by sacrificing offensive stats and are terrible at bh/pvp.

 

 

 

 

Excellent point, except pures are a result of defense being underpowered.

 

If defense worked properly a level 40 balanced player should be equal to a level 40 pure.

 

Good solution change defense to work as a mitigation skill (hits hit less hard at higher defense) rather then dodge and defense will be useful in low level as well as high level pvp.

It would be a pretty balanced update , but the thing that sets pure pking apart from main pking is that there are so many different builds with many styles of fighting, and the fact that pure pking is based more on the fighting rather than risk. its the main reason people make pures.

 

If defense were to be damage reducing it would be tanks vs more tanks vs more tanks, and that would get stale. If anything, such changes should be applied to constitution, as that's the direct counter to strength. Problem is, pures would be almost untouchable.

 

Lets look at it this way

 

Say average level 40 has a max hit of 60 (meleeing) and level 40 pure (str pure) has a max hit of 160.

 

If defense was mitigation, the average level 40 would hit near constant 60's. While the str pure would hit 100's or 80's, he still has the ability to miss if his attack level is low however so they would be about even.

 

Since both parties are going to be hitting fairly often it makes the fight a bit more interesting by having constant damage. However KO's would be pretty rare like this. But that allows Jagex to add in Super weapons, as it stands now theres too many things in near KO range. If Jagex changed defense we could have room for better weapons.

 

 

Its the change that needs to be done, but it obviously would be very unpopular and change runescape as we know it. But its the only way to get rid of pures (to those against them), allow for combat skills to 120 (defense can handle the extra damage being delt), and have room to throw in new super weapons.

 

 

I can tell you've never pked before. Pures are severely underpowered. You might have had a case in early 2005 for defence being underpowered, but not anymore.

Pures have only ever been overpowered years ago.

 

Nowadays, they are pretty much OP from level 1-30, slightly OP from 40-60, more than balanced from 60-70'ish, and anything from 70 onwards is underpowered, and 80, i honestly don't know how pures PK at 80...

im 78, and hitting is fine - ranged is accurate enough - just leave the scimmy in the bank :P

exactly, use ranged and mage for people with armor and you'll be fine.

Pures still get their butts kicked when they're near maxed though.

Thats good. I've always been scared of having to eventually get defence to compete, don't like defence :)

With 1 defence, 99 strength/range/magic/constitution. Obvious exception are obby maulers.

And "barrows pures" aren't that great at that level.

I'm working on hypotheticals here, but im pretty sure maxed zerkers and dam high level barrows pures are around the 90+ range, which is where 99 attack lands you generally.

You choose to make a pure, You need to recognize and eliminate/neutralize the risks of Defense.

Second,

 

"boringest" Is not a legimate word for the English language. The inflection "Est" used for adjectives can not be applied to "Boring".

 

 

I also think that your sentence syntax and word order might be off.

People with 70 defence could technicallly be considered pures, same as 45, 20, 30, 1, and 33 defence, (and thats just naming a few)

 

And as i said before (also i love the part where you completely ignore my post) 1 defence pures choose to have 1 defence because being a tank is pretty darn boring in a PVP situation.
