[Video Dev Blog] Void Quests

Recommended Posts

RuneScape developers Mod Moltare and Mod Nancy talking about the "Quiet Before the Swarm" and "A Void Dance" quest series. It's good timing too, as the "A Void Dance" quest and the "Conquest" turn-based 'training exercise for budding Void Knight officers' are both on the cards for a release in August.

This is exciting! I like how they are starting to explore new ways of reaching their players. The developer video blog is way better than any text wall they put out.

The new quest seems interesting. I look forward to seeing more into the void knight series.

I like the video dev blogs, but I wish they would post the link of the main website for us to see.

At 1:24 seconds into the video, you see some new hitsplats. No more 0's? They have a "Miss" in white letters. And the hitsplats slowly move up and fade away.

Looks like an interesting quest as well.

Here's a pic. I highlighted it. Kinda hard to see, so go watch it in the video.

What's with Mod Moltaire's funky hairdo?

Anyways, I think these videos compliment the written dev blogs nicely. They should just merge them and stick them on the main page.

I love how his hair changes in the video. I hope they do more development diaries in video form.

Same. Made me go wtf the first time I saw it. :P

Am I the only one that noticed that all of the faces are much more detailed? Mainly the eyes.

Nope, saw that too. Player eyes will be getting an update soon. Not sure about the rest of the player's face.

Agreed.

Look at 1:24... notice when they hit not only does it say "Miss" but beside some of the damage it shows a melee or range icon.... weird!

I guess it is part of the new z-buffer system. Before, there was probably the chance of the new icons/text not being positioned correctly. I guess it will tell you what you hit, what style of attack you hit with, and if you hit at all.

It's pretty awesome that the production quality of Jagex's videos keep going up. This video looked really professional.

Loved the new hitsplats and faces too.

Lol, Mod Moltare looks like he's about 17 years old. And yes, his hair changes.

The train puzzle looks interesting, as do the new "miss" things. I prefer the text blogs though; they seem to give a lot more information.

Im still hoping we get Commander Korasi's sword.

I'm  ing for void armor with higher defense, a void melee weapon (Korasi's sword), a void ranged weapon, and an even bigger set effect when using full void + a void weapon. I think that'd be a pretty good reward for the series.

To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.

The updated hitsplats look great! and will help determining whether you dont do damage, or simply miss.

The icon showing what type of damage you take will be very usefull later on (when new bosses come out) because it will allow for better understanding as to what its using

I think a Video Dev Blog is a fantastic way to get players to look into what Jagex is up to when they aren't about to/are/in the aftermath of releasing an update. I really like the idea and I hope to see them continue this. With the video, we also see that Jagex staff members aren't just robots as some people seem to think they are; they are in fact people just like us.
