bored321
I read on the high-level forum it's full of adaware so I'm not going to bother. Quote from AMorganis I recently decided to test the new RuneScape Gamebar. I'm using Safari on OS X 10.6.4. For one, it repeatedly crashed the browser. Totally unusable. I did some digging and it appears that Jagex is using a toolbar-builder website known as Ourtoolbar.com. Why Jagex - with all of its coders - couldn't create their own browser plug-in is beyond me. This site pays Jagex for every toolbar downloaded and installed. The catch? Ourtoolbar.com is a spyware application that logs personally identifiable information. Jagex should stop its endorsement of this toolbar immediately and design one themselves, from the ground up, without supporting a company that utilizes adware. Thats not strictly correct Spyware it maybe however (and just to correct the site, Conduit.com makes the toolbar), the data it collects is not personally identifiable no more than google or Microsoft already collect from their users browser history. You can however disable the data collection under toolbar settings. It certainly does not contain adware and they do get paid most of it from the searches on ourtoolbar landing page. Google's toolbar collects data too btw. Thanks Gradeskip93 for my awesome sig!

I really liked this tool bar, but I guess I’ll probably uninstall it now. Could someone make one that isn’t full of trash? Or I’m pretty handy, direct me toward a resource that might help me make one? I was actually thinking about instead of having it as a tool bar, just make a webpage I could load that would fetch the info in the set up I wanted, that I could store locally and would fetch the info from Jagex. Well, I’ll look into it more latter. Thanks for the heads up.I dont think we need to panic about these privacy hoax. It is a spyware maybe, but it does not have adware, malware or trojan behaviours. The word "spyware" is a bit vague. In theory your internet browser is a spyware as it logs your internet behaviour (cookies) and let a third party (website owner). This is not that kind of spyware that logs your password and send you popups from nowhere. Yes, they do have your personal information in it. Thats your runescape account information that jagex give them, so that the ge and dnd watch can work. Maybe they also logs what search or other website you have gone, but thats what everyone who write toolbars are doing. Google wrote their own tool bar and they are sending personal data back to their server by default, thats how their search engine works anyway. http://www.conduit.com/privacy/WebsitePrivacy.aspx "Any information we collect is collected for the primary purpose of enabling us to provide and enhance the Services offered to our users. We do not sell or rent PII to third parties." their words. I personally think this is jagex's new strategy to deploy ads, but i dont think there is a need to avoid using this tool bar. Unless of cause, the toolbar start to cause annoyance and become what we called "malware". Examine ChenGMT (level: 138)

Kaida23
Personally, I'm loving it. Not having to log in to make sure my items are buying/selling or to see if they're done, combined with a GE update tracker equals one happy merchant. Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P. So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually... 999134
All toolbars are pure evil, try uninstalling yahoo toolbar or any other [developmentally delayed]ed toolbars you get because you forgot to uncheck a box while installing something.+ I don't want people to think I play runescape. Check it out, huge amount of effort has gone into this massive mod![hide=old sig][/hide]

@Dan3HitU
Might have to add it to the Java client that Jagex released rather than using a tool-bar. Or perhaps someone could make a Sidebar widget? [-- DYNAMIC SIGNATURES FOR RUNESCAPE 3 & OLDSCHOOL 2007 RUNESCAPE --]

It's the only browser that i-crap users can use and it does pass the acid3 test anyway. Examine ChenGMT (level: 138)
Jasquith
Hey all- hope this is in the right place. Apologies if not. Is there already (or can we cobble together) a comprehensive list of which distractions and diversions are highlighted through the runescape toolbar? I have Miscellania, Tears of Guthix and the Phoenix popping up on mine, but I know for a fact that there are more. Does anyone know what the prerequisites are for each? Is it just the completion of quests etc.? ThanksJasquith

bored321
How can I get the toolbar to track a different account? I no longer play on the one to which it's connected. Un-authorise it, its in the drop down menu (rs logo) in the official bar. Then login with your other account. Thanks Gradeskip93 for my awesome sig! Thanks very much Will,Jasquith No problem. Oh, I forgot to mention, if you've waited the 7 days minus 1 hour to play Tears of Guthix but haven't gained 100K xp or a Quest Point in that time, it will tell you that and also list how much xp you need to gain to go over that 100K xp line. It's unlikely for that to happen, but you did say comprehensive. ~ W ~
