Seriously sat back and smiled when I saw the old RS home page, and the world/detail select. Brings back some great memories, also like seeing the stat screen progression. Kinda hard to believe how much it's evolved, and still people moan about this and that. Things were much simpler back then.

Really nice read, although i already knew 90-95% of that. To be honest, as this is a FACT sheet, the pkig and staking part seems a little too subjective, and as we can see form the posts about it, people claim some terrible welfare pkers to be worthy enough to be on the list(like death threat for example). Facts are facts, if they aren't a first ballot name like ghjjf for pking or cursed you/ha12d for staking, they should not be mentioned.

Thanks. Famous PKers can indeed be a matter of opinion, but stakers can be a little more solid by just looking at their banks.

Isn't that 'detail select' image from the first version of the homepage, by the way? The texture on the detail buttons seems to match to texture on the 'play game' button. Might be wrong, though.

I think TKS was also first to lots of "landmarks". (locked when he quit and possibly got hacked.)

It's not a great fact sheet just a pick and mix sort of one, its ok for people who havent played that long but theres lots missing, plus I wouldnt concider any of the dungeoneering players legendary.

 

Most of the great merchants and stakers sold RS Gold simply because they had too much.

6/6/6/ Massacre is better know as the Falador Massacre, plus the event technically did not occur on 6th June 2006, but the 7th. The event occured on an Australian Server, which was past midnight (so 7th June), plus Jagex is based in the UK, which was also at 7th June when it happened. Only one or two US timezones were still at the 6/6/6 date, but people refuse to accept this and still run around thinking its some sort of conspiracy that the devils numbers conflict with this event, which was not the case.

GWD BUGS (In order of discovery)

 

Zamorak Boss - K'ril Tsutsaroth

Discovered: First day

The first teams to enter the Zam boss's room were all quick to find out that the mage and range bodyguards did not attack players standing on the east wall

The yellow dot on the far right of the map (or to the west) is a stuck bodyguard

 

Bandos Boss - General Graardor

Discovered: At least second day

The original doors at GWD had the door attached to the BASE side, instead of the BOSS side, so that there was a small indent in the boss room. With general graardor, standing in the indent with graardor's bottom -left side two or three squares south of the indent would make his range attack null (would not hit at all - no damage splat), making it possible to solo him without threat of range damage. The movement update that made NPCs move completely to their destination had not been updated yet, so entering the room while the range and mage bodyguards were on the nw side of the room would get them caught, making it possible to solo graardor without taking any damage at all.

 

I do not know how well know this bug was initially, though I found the bug on the second day but played at night on german servers and I didn't see anyone use it until approximately 3ish weeks later, when everyone else found out about it. It was fixed soon afterwards without a system update. The pics I had were lost in a computer crash but I still have the video of the discovery somewhere, maybe ill put it up. Instead, heres a pic of my friend doing it:

 

Saradomin Boss - Commander Zilyana

There were two bugs involved:

1. Starlight's North wall bug

Discovered: First day

Standing on the north wall of the boss room prevented starlight from noticing you. Wasn't changed until the second bug was fixed.

2. Zilyana safespot

Discovered: Unknown

Zil's room was the only boss room to not have perfect corners - rather, they were jagged three tiers. Again, this was before the complete NPC movement update, so it was possible to get her stuck on the northern corners while you only took damage from bree or growler (usually bree). This wasn't so much a bug as much as it was just improper room design.

I found out about the safespot long after graardor's bug was fixed; some emails show around middle december 2007. I know some other groups of monster hunters knew shortly before we did (I was inspired by Soma2035 to find the safespot), but it is entirely possible that it was discovered far before that.

I know for a fact that energy was not suppose to be a replacement for fatigue. When beta was first released, there were still sleeping bags.

Run energy was bugged when it first came out. If you had a negative weight, your run energy would increase.

A couple of things you might want to add, the first ranked in the new skills. I know that the person for summoning is a tifer and he took a highscores picture. A couple of the larger bugs are when the top floor of the slayer tower briefly became the wilderness after an unrelated update and the barbarian assault glitch which allowed runes to be smuggled out. Here's a video of that by tainted ones, they used to specialise in glitches but they tended to get banned. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMYd68fxPTU There's also a few more glitches on that guys channel.

Yes, I believe it was a TIF Admin that was the first ranked in Summoning. "Bier" was the first to be ranked in Dungeoneering (source).

Yes, indeed he was a great player. I just don't know how to exactly list/credit them without mentioning all the other top 3-4 players. Such as Uloveme, Daverick, Lilyuffie88 , Green098, and some others I can't exactly remember right now :(. If anyone has any suggestions as to how to "mention" the rank 3-4s throughout RS2's history, please help :D.

Probably changed names, or requested Jagex to lock her account and take it off the hiscores. Blueruse13x had a tremendous impact on the economy of RS1 when she started smithing Rune. She pretty much controlled it and set her prices. Thus, she is in the RSC Fact Sheet instead.

There was one login screen before this i believe. It had the 4 elemental runes on screen and it was on a scroll.
