One advice to Jagex

Recommended Posts

Since we are aware that Jagex Mods read and sometimes participate in the RS Fan sites community, an example can be of JMod Timbo suggesting that the dispute which arose between RSD and RoT be settled on RSC or the post by Jmod on TWR forums when there was a huge roar about the Climbing Boot update.

My question is

What would be one advice or a suggestion you would like to give out to JMods which could help more runescapers to take up clanning ?

We know the number of people in clans dont even represent 5% of people playing runescape, what could be the update that can change the number game.

Discuss.

Forum hosting. Relaxation of advertisement rules for clans. Memberlists integrated into the high scores.

Some of my bigger annoyances. The thing I want the most, though, is the removal of Safe PvP outside of minigames (CWA is not a minigame.) but they'll never do that.

It's not so much what can Jagex do, it's what we could do too. We're the ones who set high requirements and expect a lot from our members. Even if Jagex did things for us, it wouldn't be the same and most likely not good enough although I'd love to see them try harder.

I'd personally love Jagex to implement a Wilderness map into the CWA portal, so clans who have small PVP experience like my own can get better without the risk of losing items and such which makes it more fun. Returning in a real PKRI is something that can already be practiced. By doing this also, some members in RSB clans may like the surroundings and look to PK in the real Wilderness, giving our Clan World more competition and more PK opportunities. Also the RSB clan members would realise how good we are in comparison to them in a PKRI.

Updating CWA just kills the potential for clans to try pvp. If you're bored with CWA it's time to move on and check out the wilderness. You shouldn't be worried about losing items because you're not experienced in pvp, if you're worried about sets then you should probably go do some money making events for your clan.

OT:

I would ask for a very elaborate plan which would take years to be fully done and working smoothly so they probably wouldn't do it.

CWA like portal say at members gate or GDZ, same pvp boundaries (+ new ones if they want). Once they do that they can delete CWA forcing clans to have fights here in which you lose everything you bring. The war would be point based, same rules for like CWRI to win all that good crap of rules transfered here as well but the features of points would entice many people, even clanless people. Points would be awarded for kills you get, and the winning clan would get a generous handful of points. At the end you will get a screen of the breakdown of your individual points and all that nice stuff.

Then you could trade the points in for rewards, could be new items, cash to buy more sets anything they want. One suggestion me and ralph came up with was like trade in half pizzas for a full pizza or something.

To continue on this suggestion it would be a on going ranking system. Clans would have a Runehead type ML on Runescape.com and you are only allowed to join one Warring Clan ML. Clans would arrange fights against each other for ranks and you could find the ranks of clans somewhere in the hiscores.

There'd still be pvp and bh worlds for current ways people war, just no CWA (I suppose it could work without it but please don't give CWA points/rewards or ranking options) anyways just the hype of having clans ranked by Runescape.com would bring people interested, people love to compete they want to go look at me I'm number one in 99 cooking, or check out my fog rating im so hardcore yo. Why not have people get pumped and have a "legit" clan rank to brag about.

Overall I would ask for some sort of PvP dangerous type of ranking to get people interested in clans. How the rankings work would probably be hard unless there is a safe 1v1 arena (CWRI Dangerous is lame returning is too easy and lack of good maps, but please dont add anymore maps to CWA :mad)

/end ramble of ideas also inb4 tl;dr

What makes you think if they implement a wilderness map in CWA (which I agree is a good idea) but keep the area safe that it will make them any more interested in going out and losing their items? If anything, it will just give people more of a reason to stick to CWA and not to branch out. And that certainly wouldn't be helping us (ie fansite communities) at all.

Voice communication hosting - Would cost Jagex relatively little to host voice communication (like we use TS3) on their servers as part of the RuneScape game. At first they could open it up for clans to try, and then broaden it out to the wider population if clans start favouring their version. They need to bear in mind that if they want to attract the runescape clanners back to runescape infrastructure, they need to start competing with the best (IPB, TS, Ventrilo).

They need to start upgrading their completely stone-age forums to accomodate changes in times. They don't even have a quote function let alone signatures, personal avatars (not those boring runescape characters), or the ability to post clickable links (if only to quickfind codes).

They could have signatures preview-required by a forum mod & only allowed to change their forum signatures once every 6 months. Same with avatars

They should have closed off areas of the RSOF for specific clans, with access granted to clan leaders to administrate specific forums & decide who to allow to view etc.

So many things that they should have a look at. Obviously they won't though, they're too busy catering for the 9 year olds who sneak onto their daddys computer to kill cows in lumbridge.

Make a 5% fee for selling stuff in the GE. Would be taken out of the cash you get. Help siphon money out of the game since billions are pumped into it every day with pvp drops. Would also take money away from merching. Sure they could just merch stuff harder but no matter what they are losing money when they buy something up and then sell it later. The GE is a service and should be treated as such.

I think a lot of the issues that come from the inflated economy in runescape effect clans a great deal. Pvp has been made to be far to easy to make money in now with potential. I believe with more money siphoned out less people will be able to buy ample amounts of runesets. People will less likely attempt to outlast due to lower amounts of money. This would not be an immediate effect but something that would occur far down the road. It would stifle merchanting a great deal which is also seen as one of the biggest money makers. By making it so the items that get merchanted go through the ge it should slowly stabilize the economy

I think it would help if you could post screenshots on the RS forums, that way clan's can actually show what they do rather than just have to type it... not sure if that would make much of a difference though

But i do like Kimberley and Dan's idea of a clan ML being on HS

I also think it'd help if you could Make two half pizza's into a whole one, like what you can with potions, would certainly save me some money

- Fix dangerous CWA, add a loot system and more maps. It'd be cleaner and be based on performance + enjoyable. Liked the idea above with points since Jagex'd possibly do it, but what's going on ATM has to be changed as it has potential

If your talking about Clans, that's my favorite one. If not regarding that:

- Remove the GE altogether, it's too easy to buy items & it's causing inflation. Would also want no Trade Limit, Jagex has too much control over prices

While the g/e may cause inflation (due to an increase in velocity of exchanges), the g/e is probably the best update that Jagex has ever don.. because for the most part, it is EFFICIENT. I would hate having to go back to the old days where I'd have to stand around on a random world and spam "something for sale -- 100k" or whatever.. took forever to find a buyer.

I'd love to have trade limits go away so I could get back my discontinued rares that I gave to a friend after I quit. :/

Seems like most of the people are asking for RS pre-2007. It'll never happen but in many ways it was better then.

I used to think that Jagex should make more of an effort to support clans, yet everything they've done has ended up turning on forum-based clans so far, as they've preferred to mostly provide features that help RSB clans.

At any rate, the memberlist idea is nice. I don't see many clans using a forum hosting feature(besides RSB ones).

More support for clans outside RSOF. I can understand their desire to protect the players but there is a thriving community outside RSOF and a lot of people have no idea, don't care, or are not sure how to become part of it safely and for mutual benefit all around. Also, an improvement of RSOF would be a great deal more helpful, considering how limited many of the things you can do on RSOF are.

I have to agree with bringing back the old wild, and removing the trade limits. Probably won't ever happen though.

Well, last I checked the Clan Chat required people to be added to your friends list. I think that should be changed, and multiple channels should be made available per clan. Also, the limit of persons with ranks should be removed, to allow much larger clans to take advantage of clan chat. It doesn't work too well for large clans and community's, when they can't tell between their own members, and guests of the clan chat.

A good amount of cash from Pvp drops are from statues aren't they? Regardless of merching and pvp drops you can still make 1m an hr many other ways. Which is plenty for rune sets if you do this along with farm runs + MTK.
