300K people rallying for smaller government and less morons in office? Yup. I like it.

its ironic because the rally is led by the very kind of person who qualifies as a moron. Also, smaller government is not necessarily good.

 

In nearly all conceivable cases small government allowing private industry to fulfill the public's needs is more economically efficient then a large government. For proof, just look at what has happened to Europe.

I would love to think that this would be possible in the future. But it would be impossible to do in this country without 1/3 of the people complaining.

Aye. America is technically considered a Christian nation. It was, to a degree, founded as such. The freedom of religion, that was based off of the Maryland Tolerance Act of ... 1647? Sometime around then. But it only applied to everyone but Atheists and Jews. Now take note that it was merely tolerance.

 

Of course, times are changing rapidly, in all sorts of ways. Except our bodies, but that's another subject for me.

Well yes. That would be a logical decision.

I hope you realize the phrase "In God we trust", God is used more as a symbolic figure for the right and just? Would you want it to say "In corruption and immorality we gain"? It's the same across several American "God" or other religious phrases.

 

It's the same as this country was founded as a Christian nation. In the long run it would turn into a more of a morally-right country than a "Jesus Christ and the saints" nation.

That black lady who gave a speech at their rally said that she was on a "mission from God". She kept referring to that when the reporters were talking to her last night.

 

Therefore, Glenn Beck is God?

 

I bet you didn't know that "That black lady" is Dr. Alveda King, MLK's niece.

 

 

 

I'm guessing most of you haven't listened to Glenn Beck for more than 30 seconds at a time (more than a sound bite). I'll fill you in a little. Glenn Beck is not a reporter, he's an entertainer. If you wanted news, you wouldn't watch his show or listen to his radio program. You'll also notice (if you listen to him) that he has a doomsayer tendency, and that he's willing to go out on a limb. As far as the information that he brings up in his television show (and his blackboard), he does his research very well. Even with all the stuff that he brings up, he's only had to correct his show a handful of times.

 

I also don't see how GB asking everyone to pray a bit makes him or his listeners dangerous (We all know how Christian prayer incites violence).

In other words, there seem to be more elitist Christians showing hate towards other religions and wanting to take away rights in the US. They aren't letting people believe what they want to believe.

It's not about not letting people believe what they want, it's that people confuse religion as race. An atheist Arab is a Muslim here, even though that makes no sense. In other words, we think all Arabs are Islamic, all Indians are Hindu, etc, causing us to have a racist (though we think its religion) bias.

I think that taking away freedom of religion would be wrong. I don't want to take away religions, I think people should believe in what they want to believe. I will debate about religion with religious people if they want to, but usually it never leads to anything, I don't want to force people into non-believing. But, I do hope that eventually the world would become more atheistic. I want this to occur naturally over many years as we keep learning more about the world around us and teach it to others. I don't have problems with religious people, but I do have problems with religious/or non religious people who think their views are superior to others.

It'd be ideal if everybody on earth was of the same religion, but I think that this is the wrong way to go about trying to make it happen. (It will never happen, so any way is the wrong way about trying to make it happen.)

I think that taking away freedom of religion would be wrong. I don't want to take away religions, I think people should believe in what they want to believe. I want the world to be what the world wants to be. I'm Christian, and so I believe the world is going to be ultimately ending up as non Christian.

So you wouldn't have a problem with me believing in a god that tells me to blow up buildings and kill babies and eat them?
