Are You Loyal To Your Clan Or What's Inside It?

c/p from a while ago, might aswell post it here if it brings some discussion ^_^

I've been thinking, the clan your in now - are you there because of your friends or are you there for the sake of the clan itself. For those clans that have been around for a long time, they all must've surely witnessed a number of changing generations that have represented the clan. You'd have the first generation of people, compared to the newest generation which would be a completely different set of people (apart from a few loyalists of course).

So I wonder, what if your best friend(s) one day left the clan your in, you would undoubtedly feel slightly more lonely and maybe even separated because they aren't in the same clan as you. Now, for this reason, would you leave the clan aswell, so you could be with your friends? In this case, your loyalty would be to your friends... or would you stay in the clan your in and hold your emotions, simply because you feel like your home is there and you feel loyal towards it?

There are two types of people;

Number 1. Those that join clans for fun and friends only. By this i mean, if the clan their in all of a sudden goes into a slump, starts losing wars, or simply becomes boring... These people no matter how long they have served this clan would want to leave, and join another clan. Their logic = Clanning should only be fun

Number 2. These people are the one's that stick by a clan, with the thought that - w/e imperfections it might have, even if it's in a slump, even if their friends are leaving... They will stay, simply because they want to help improve those problems. For them, their clan is their home, and they really can't imagine being in another clan. Also, their able to resist any temptation or lures from other clans.

Number 1, enjoy clanning alot more then number 2. Number 1 will be in a clan for enjoyment, if their not enjoying their time there, they will think something logical to themselves "why am i in this clan when there are plenty out there that are better?". And thus they would leave and join another clan that's doing really good and is fun.

Number 2, have to go through the bad and boring times, the slumps, the war losing, the civil arguments and such... which all clans have faced and try to pull through it. For this reason, i think that number 2's are very rare.

As leaders, every clan would want only number 2's, simply because their very loyal and they wouldn't leave when times get tough. But in realistic options, you will get the number 1 type of people, as there are alot of these people - allowing your clan to grow and progress faster, yet you know that if you hit a problem, some of these are going to leave making things harder for your clan.

So yeah, would you agree/disagree with that? Do you think your a number 1 or a number 2? What does your clan mean to you, in comparison to the friends within it? And how important do factors such as fun, community etc. affect your stay. And even though i say, most people out there are probably number 1's, it's not reliable as i've never been in another clan apart from my own. But i'm sure some of you can share your experience better then me.

No, my clan has troubles atm, but I will stay until the end.

2. What factor is it that makes you stay in your current clan?

First of all I want to help out, I have a lot of freinds in there, and also as a rank it is my duty to do my best to bring the clan forward, and leaving definately wouldnt help.

3. In your honest opinion, would you say your a "Number 1" or a "Number 2", and why?

Number 2, if I need fun, I go out IRL or join warring teams, I prefer dedication and honour over clan hopping just to have "fun".

1. Would you leave your clan if you felt that important aspects of your clanning experience such as "friends, having fun, community" became deteriorated?

WG isn't what it was three years ago. I'm still here. And hell, I've experienced some of our greatest historical moments - two incredible wars (The Great War & The Battle of Turning Tides), I've been to our most epic real life meeting yet, and I've seen and helped bring the clan back on it's feet. So I will always have the "having fun" element. As for friends - the true ones 1- don't break away from the clan as they value it as much as myself, and 2- would stay in contact anyway. I have friends who have left WG for other clans like Divine Forces and Corruption, but it's their choice of clan, not mine. And community... I can't see our community aspect deteriorating.

2. What factor is it that makes you stay in your current clan?

Novelty. In the 5 years I've been in the clan world and the thirty or so clans I've been in - make that fifty or so if you count clans I wasn't a member of but had events and experience with (Yes I was a clan hopper, I know :P) - I have never found a clan that comes close to WG. Most clans are simply community, atmosphere, events. And that's it. There's so much to WG, I could write a book on it, but I'll spare you guys that and just give you THIS :P

3. In your honest opinion, would you say your a "Number 1" or a "Number 2", and why?

A Number 2. You emphasised the word "home" there. I don't need to say much more than that. WG is my home. We might not be the strongest or most influential (reference joke), but we're family.

1. Would you leave your clan if you felt that important aspects of your clanning experience such as "friends, having fun, community" became deteriorated?

Maybe. Depends how severe they are. My clan is my home and slumps and things like that don't mean anything to me, but if you're clan is your family and they all leave, then what are you left with? I'm not loyal to the name of my clan, I'm loyal to the people inside it.

2. What factor is it that makes you stay in your current clan?

Amateurnoob.

3. In your honest opinion, would you say your a "Number 1" or a "Number 2", and why?

Number 2 probably, I've stuck it out through almost all my clans until they died, minus Downfall since my plot to close them is obviously not working. But I won't lie, if all my friends leave my clan, then there really isn't anything worth staying for- I clan for and with my friends, the name of the clan means little to me.

I have lived my life to the best of my ability, but I have not been able to escape fate, anger, or pain.

Bring me the answers, and the road that leads to truth, reveal to me once and for all, how all of this will end.

Shadows cannot exist without the light. But without the shadows, the light has no meaning.

1. Would you leave your clan if you felt that important aspects of your clanning experience such as "friends, having fun, community" became deteriorated? No and yes, if the clan has drastically changed and keep making the same mistakes, or not listening to the majority of the members I'll probably leave.

2. What factor is it that makes you stay in your current clan?

Friends. I also like helping smaller clans/ enjoy being in them.

3. In your honest opinion, would you say your a "Number 1" or a "Number 2", and why?

Somewhere in the middle. I've only quit one clan (Two if you count a rushed application into MoD; Left before one week in due to their community) So other than those two clans I generally stick it out through the slumps and until we close.

Not immediately, and it would depend on to the extend to which it was happening.

2. What factor is it that makes you stay in your current clan?

Great potential, fun, and the competitive spirit to want to get better.

3. In your honest opinion, would you say your a "Number 1" or a "Number 2", and why?

Number 2, clanning wouldn't be fun unless you had your ups and downs, but it's what you can contribute to overcome obstacles and rough times that make it worthwhile.

1. Would you leave your clan if you felt that important aspects of your clanning experience such as "friends, having fun, community" became deteriorated?

If I was in a clan full of idiots who I disliked I would leave. Fortunately that has never happened and I have actually never left a clan (all 3 of my previous clans have closed :wall: ) I don't think you should leave a clan unless there is a real reason for it.

2. What factor is it that makes you stay in your current clan?

Not currently in a clan, but I guess the biggest pull factor is friends within the clan, and once you have been in a clan for a while you tend to develop a pride for your clan which also 'makes' you stay.

3. In your honest opinion, would you say your a "Number 1" or a "Number 2", and why?

Number 2, the term 'rats fleeing from a sinking ship' is not something I ever want to be associated with :shades:

I think I'd leave my clan if it came to a point where we were getting a bad reputation, flaming constantly, crashing, DDOSing and being disrespectful to an extreme level. I don't immerse myself in the community as much as I probably should but I think those are the only conditions I've leave under.

2. What factor is it that makes you stay in your current clan?

Constant wars, I love to war and all my clans and teams I'm in give me just that - so thats why I'm in them.

3. In your honest opinion, would you say your a "Number 1" or a "Number 2", and why?

Number 2 without a doubt. I have never left a clan at my own accord - all the ones I've ever joined have closed.

1. Would you leave your clan if you felt that important aspects of your clanning experience such as "friends, having fun, community" became deteriorated? Been here when some of my closest rs friends have left. Decided to stick with it and now have never looked back. That decision solidified it more me.

2. What factor is it that makes you stay in your current clan? The promise, the family, the people; I mean our motto is "For Trust, For Power, Forever"

3. In your honest opinion, would you say your a "Number 1" or a "Number 2", and why? I joined because of friends and have stayed because of the bigger picture.

1. Would you leave your clan if you felt that important aspects of your clanning experience such as "friends, having fun, community" became deteriorated?

Depends if its a big problem within it, if not then i will most probably stand up with my clan the most i can and see how it goes as time passes.

2. What factor is it that makes you stay in your current clan?

Community and friends, without them i wouldn't even bother being in a clan. I just feel like in a family and is twice as fun being with them in a same clan rather than joining other clan with better experience but with no friends on it or community whatsoever.

3. In your honest opinion, would you say your a "Number 1" or a "Number 2", and why?

Number 2 because of the simple reason that i do feel in a family in my current clan and i wouldn't change them for nothing tho theres a couple of them i dislike but in the end of the day its a clan which means family, network and it wouldn't work if the clan doesn't work together

1. Would you leave your clan if you felt that important aspects of your clanning experience such as "friends, having fun, community" became deteriorated?

Nope, they have already. When you're in a slump there's always that temptation to leave, and I've fallen victim to it before. But there's just something about my first clan that makes me stay till the end. It's probably that I'm a nostalgic fool, but it's also probably because I see that one member trying hard and I know we can succeed.

2. What factor is it that makes you stay in your current clan?

The people, the effort I've put in, and the friends who hang around in the cc.

3. In your honest opinion, would you say your a "Number 1" or a "Number 2", and why?

In my honest opinion I am a Number 2. Even though I've left, that was truly just to shop around; nothing compares to the hominess I get in my clan. Even though we're in the biggest slump ever that we might not pull out of, that doesn't mean I need to quit; stay till the end and I'll feel good about the fact I didn't quit. :) I have no doubt we can turn this clan around, especially with some awesome leadership. And I definetely wanna be there to see it :)

Probably not, I have been in this clan for my whole clanning life and I am not sure if anything will change that. Well if we were to go Nh and start ddosing, crashing, and all that stuff then I would probably leave.

2. What factor is it that makes you stay in your current clan?

The people.

3. In your honest opinion, would you say your a "Number 1" or a "Number 2", and why? Number 2, I have been in my clan through lots, I have seen lots of friends leave, been in a couple slumps and I just don't think I would leave it for anything.

You can still enjoy clanning while being Number 2, just because you have the decency to be loyal doesnt mean you cant have fun. Df has had its up and downs since i joined almost 2 years ago, But non theless i'll have to say the times where it was rough were the best. Seeing everyone pitch in to get us out of the rough spot. taking that one step forward at a time. that's still a sense of achievement whether its taking that step at rank 8 or 3 it's progress. Losing can be bad depending on how your clan takes it but DF never takes a loss badly because we know we'll be out their again tommorow giving it another shot. That's how we are and i believe that's how we always will be. With 130 or 100 members.

As far as me personally, i hope ive done enough to consider myself number 2. I used to be a Number 1 untill i joined DF

1. Would you leave your clan if you felt that important aspects of your clanning experience such as "friends, having fun, community" became deteriorated?

I have wondered this myself actually, BK has changed a lot and at one point or another most of the people around me have either retired or left, I myself have retired a couple of times and in all honesty once or twice I was tempted to call it quits due to decisions that were made and other things but it seems that I am too stubborn to give up and I can't really see myself leaving BK.

2. What factor is it that makes you stay in your current clan?

I have been in BK for roughly 50 months now, I have never been in another clan and I have never really been interested in being in another clan, when I joined BK it was the perfect combination of everything for me, there was a strong rivalry, there were lots of fun events, we were powerful in the wilderness but not interested in doing things we as a clan didn't enjoy and the community was incredible. Things have changed slightly but I am pleased with where the clan is now and ideally I would like to get back closer to what we used to have but I still believe that BK is the best clan in the game.

3. In your honest opinion, would you say your a "Number 1" or a "Number 2", and why?

I hope this question isn't meant to be a double entendre...

But number 2, I have stayed through several very large slumps and I have stayed in BK despite the person who recruited me leaving and most of the friends that I made when I first joined either retiring or quitting. I am pretty sure that I am in it for the clan.

Do you want to love me?

^Although you may see it that way, being a number 1 isn't that bad. Number 2 might have more heart but they still have to go through alot of struggles, whilst Number 1 in their own respects are there to just have fun and enjoy the best part of everything. Although in the end it's just a game, the main difference between the two may be that Number 1 is based on conditional factors and Number 2 may be based on unconditional one's.

No, I'm in RE to war and war I do. Unless we stop getting wars I'll be in RE.

2. What factor is it that makes you stay in your current clan?

Well, hard to explain really... We're going through a hard time and so if you just jumped ship now you'd probably get flamed by those who stayed. If you stay and help on then you'll get yourself a good name and end up at the top.

The warring experience means nothing to me. I've stuck with Downfall for this long because of the community and the family feel. We've been close to losing that. I will this clan my everything so long as it remains a clan for the people and not a select few.

2. What factor is it that makes you stay in your current clan?

Definitely the community.

3. In your honest opinion, would you say your a "Number 1" or a "Number 2", and why?

Number 1 with a little 2. Obviously we play this game for enjoyment. If you're not happy, why stay in a clan? That being said, I have never been more happy any where else so this is where I shall stay.

1. Would you leave your clan if you felt that important aspects of your clanning experience such as "friends, having fun, community" became deteriorated? I would only leave on three conditions; I'm banned, the clan closes, or we allow real life attacks.

2. What factor is it that makes you stay in your current clan? Loyalty, stubbornness, I would have trouble finding a community that could better fit my needs.

3. In your honest opinion, would you say your a "Number 1" or a "Number 2", and why? Number 2, I'm the only person to have been banned to still be active in the clan. I also have the highest number of suspensions and warn levels, yet I'm still there. #
