anyone else watched this show? i've only downloaded the first (of three) so far. i've never even heard of this series til like.... i don't even rememeber

from what i've seen, it isn't that perfect. there's enough holes if you look for it, but the acting/production is consistent that makes it enjoyable for a fan. each ep is 90 mins long

I saw it advertised on the telly but haven't seen it yet, I may choose to watch it online.

I remember sherlock said "trust me, I'm sherlock" or something along those lines in the advertisements, I think it sounds pretty similar to Dr Who.

They were great. I've always loved the Sherlock Holmes premise, I've read a lot of the books and stuff too so I was always going to watch this new series. It could have easily been a flop but it was well written and well acted. I thought the second episode was the weakest, but the first and last were terrific.

finished the last two. this is like crack for me

you haven't seen dexter or 24 then?

seen em. but this is more along the lines of CSI

but imo dexter > sherlock > 24

there's a couple of things i'm looking forward to in the series which i hope they tackle

- sherlock's only female attraction

- his addiction to cocaine (they already referenced to this)

- mastery in making disguises

Honestly my favorite tv show ever. Just based on the first 3 episodes. Sherlock really really REALLY reminds me of doctor who, which is also one of my favorite tv shows ever.

Can't wait to see more.

Steven Moffat who writes and produces Doctor Who also co-created Sherlock so that's probably why :P

Can't wait to see it tonight, shame it's only 3 episodes again though.

I got around to walking the first three episodes sometime during last spring. Download the first episode of this season since it doesn't appear to air anywhere in the US until a later time. Will either watch it tonight or tomorrow.

All I can say about Episode 3 is I CAN'T HOLD ALL THESE FEELINGS. I absolutely LOVE Sherlock. The show is so beautifully made, the writing is perfect and the acting is incredible by everyone.

It also helps that Sherlock & John have a gorgeous relationship <3 They don't have to be actually gay... they can still love each other.

It's horrible that there's only 6 episodes but to be fair, they're each whole films really and they're so well crafted, it can't be helped that it takes so long :(

The second episode was mediocre as hell, probably the worst of the series, but it was followed up by far-and-away the best episode. I cannot think of a thing that rubbed me the wrong way about it. The season structure so far seems to go pretty great to mediocre to [bleep] yeah awesome, which is fine by me.

[spoiler=S2 finale spoilers]Just how Sherlock isn't dead, I would be surprised if Moriarty is actually dead too. I don't know why, but I can't really see them getting rid of him. Plus I don't really want them too, because goddamn he's brilliant.

I'm guessing Sherlock jumped into the rubbish truck while Molly threw a different body that looked like Holmes (something to do with how Moriarty made the kidnapped girl terrified of Holmes, a good mask or something, I dunno) from a different part of the roof. Watson doesn't notice because he was dazed from being knocked down by the cyclist, Molly switches Holmes' blood in the autopsy or something, problem solved. Alternate (read: dumb) theory: they talked about cloning in the previous episode.

Not much else to say other than Benedict Cumberbatch being the most British name I've ever heard in my life.

I don't know if I enjoyed it as much as the first series but it was still very much enjoyable. I look forward to the third series.

The last episode is based off of "The Final Problem" in which Moriarty dies but instead of falling off of a waterfall to his death with Sherlock, he shoots himself on top of a hospital. So yeah, don't expect him to come back. I like your theory of how Sherlock survived though, I personally hadn't put much thought into other then knowing Molly's involved in some way.

Seen a few theories flying around about what happened in the finale, I think this is probably most likely.

[hide]Sherlock asks for Molly's help, presumably for after he 'dies'. The child in the interview room screams when she sees Sherlock despite him having never met her. Sherlock gets John to stand in a very specific spot. Sherlock has to get Moriarty to kill himself, then he can use Moriarty's body and the mask Moriarty used to scare the child to trick people into thinking he's dead. He throws Moriarty off the building with the mask, and uses his homeless network to make up the crowd and the cyclist, the latter drugging John with the drug from the Baskerville episode as he is knocked down, therefore John expects to see Sherlock (and subsequently does). Molly does the post mortem and lies that it is Sherlock. The only problem I can think of with this though is the hitmen that were watching through the snipers, surely they would notice a switcheroo? There was a rubbish truck driving past and some people have said Sherlock may have jumped into that instead. All very exciting anyhow.[/hide]

EDIT: Just read Langzor's post, I pretty much just said what he did.

Ah, really? I remember Moriarty talking about the Final Problem a couple times throughout the episode, too, that's pretty cool. I haven't read many of the actual books, I'm guessing there are a lot more subtle nods that I've missed in other episodes, too.

[spoiler=Even more spoilers]I've been browsing some other places talking about the finale, and they've brought up some pretty cool theories too. The two I've liked (though they seem kind of implausible, but most things regarding this show are) the most have been that the cyclist and at least some of the passerbys were members of Holmes' homeless network, who controlled Watson and stopped him from getting too close a look at the body. The second involving the name of the episode: The Reichenbach Fall. Reichenbach is Rich Brook, so Rich Brook falls, i.e, they used Moriarty's body and the disguise instead of Holmes. This does bring up some other issues, but I like how it means that Moriarty's last ploy to beat Holmes ended up saving him.

I don't know why, but making up/looking through what other people thought happened is fun as hell, and I don't normally get into it with other shows.

Moriarty is amazing. My favourite character by far.

[hide]The scene with the crown and such was the best thing ever. It'll be a shame to see him go.[/hide]

SPOILERS OF 3RD EPISODE

[hide=Spoilers of third episode]I'm still kinda WTF'ing over the final episode. I obviously knew that sherlock would be fine from the very beginning, but HOW?! We saw him jump off a building, bleed heavily and then get his pulse taken. How is he alive?! If they cancel the show and i never find out in series 3 i swear i'm torturing the answer out of the writer.[/hide]

k fixed the title. i understand the use of spoiler tags, but this is a tv show which aired about a week ago.

If they cancel the show and i never find out in series 3 i swear i'm torturing the answer out of the writer.

the 3rd season was already requested at the same time as the 2nd. plus it seems like the main people want to make more episodes. i'm not worried.

Yeah i know it's pretty much a cert, but theres always a chance, especially with the guy that plays watson doing the hobbit soon.

(Thanks for the hide tags, Tripsis, I didn't know this forum had those! :))

The three-episode season works pretty well, apparently, letting the actors organise other work around it while still being able to film new episodes. I think Series 2 was actually pushed back a couple of weeks to film The Hobbit, or something like that, any way.

Martin Freeman, the guy who plays Watson, has said that the filming schedule works well for him and he can see himself doing more series after the next, which is pretty cool. I'm sure I'd be able to find the actual quote if I looked harder, but effort.
