Balmung

So this weapon is supposed to be powerful against Dagannoths, but is it just me or is the weapon equal or worse than Abyssal whip? What's the point of this quest item if it's equal or worse than Abyssal whip? All i see from the weapon is high hits, high hits that Abyssal whip could probably win over when it comes to damage per second just like Godsword.

What do you think?

The point is for the elite diary, I guess...

But yeah, stuff like the anchor and kelris are really weak for what they are supposed to be worth.

What do you expect?

A 250k balmung or w/e or a 20k keris beating out a 3.5m whip?

Well seeing as it's a quest reward and it's an awfully specific case, yes, I do. Maybe not enough to outpace Chaotic Rapier, but certainly should be enough to outpace the whip, which has no requirements other than the attack req.

You actually expected a quest reward to live up to the hype? I've been disappointed by quest rewards - especially "uber weapons" - that I don't even bother using them outside the quest (or any required post-quest activity) anymore. In fact, the only reason I do quests anymore is to unlock areas, exp rewards or to unlock another quest; the item rewards are just rubbish most of the time.

If you don't like it, you can always alch it for 135k (to the best of my knowledge, definitely is over 100k). I find the Balmung fun to use though (every dagannoth task since getting it), hitting 500s without prayer is always very satisfying (99 strength, super strength... that's it really).

Heh, only really useful quest reward items I can think of off the top of my head are greegrees (for agility), salve ammy, and SW cape.

[hide=A funny conversation]Me:Have u wondered how my brassard, which leaves my chest bare, give about the same def as ur pile of rocks?

Friend:Hahaha

Friend:Maybe you are just good at blocking with your shoulder?

Me:Ahahahahaha[/hide]Rare drops: 4 D legs, 1 D skirt

Barrows items: 2 Verac's helms, 1 Dhorak's Greataxe, 1 Dhorak's platelegs, 2 Karil's leathertops, 1 Karil's crossbow, 1 Guthan's chainskirt

RFD - barrows gloves

WGS - TDs

surely there are more

Strictly items, though, so TDS don't count since you don't need it to use claws or dragon platebodies (although that's a useless item as well).

There are plenty of fantastic quest rewards, excluding those mentioned above, a few I can think of are:

-Slug Menace: Prossy Armor

-Ghosts Ahoy: Ectophial

-Within the Light: Crystal tele to Temple of Light, invaluable for Runite Miners

-All Fired Up: Adze

-Dwarf Cannon: Cannon

-Ele. workshop 2: Mind shield, wyverns

-FTP2: Magic Seceutars

-FTP3: No weeds in patches, Magic Watering Can too

-Family Crest: 3 gauntlets

-Summer's Quests: Jennica's Ring

-Imp Catcher: amulet of accuracy (kidding, of course)

You know what would be cool? An enhanced Balmung and a Keris Scimitar that are actually useful for what they're intended for. But, then again, maybe we're unimpressed because we're maxed.

Good idea is good.

A 250k balmung or w/e or a 20k keris beating out a 3.5m whip?

Then again, both Balmung and Keris require a quest and is a reward from a quest, and is supposed to be specially "strong" against specific races.

Well of course, the Balmung is 3 speed to the Whip/Rapier's 6 speed. Not to mention two handed, so no Divine/DFS. Only good for "max hit" screenshots.

I'm maxed and I quite enjoy balmung at dagganoth kings. It seems to be far more accurate than a few other options but perhaps that just me.... In either case its a welcome break from the mass of godswords/whips i see people carrying around. What happened to the aesthetic value of a good axe or sword? It looks pretty sick if nothing else.

Quest weapons....Fun Balmung is good for alching in my eyes I like touse it to speed up dag tasks think about it this way

Your under the lighthouse for your slayer task a guy is using a cannon, just use it to do more damage and move on to the next

Or someone is traing just own it.

Its a weapon for bullying.

You get 135k from alching it and you can get a second balmung for free. 3rd will cost 220k.

Cool, I didn't know about that. I never use my balmung, so a free 270k is nice.
