champion
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HoT7H8j1Wc I had dismissed The Devil Wears Prada a long time ago, but I gave a listen to the Zombie EP and it's actually pretty good. Nothing special in terms of instrumentation or anything, but I like the use of movie sound clips and other effects like car alarms and stuff. Pleasantly surprised. I agree, I'm not huge on TDWP, but that album blew my mind with the concept and presentation. Quote Quote Anyone who likes tacos is incapable of logic. Anyone who likes logic is incapable of tacos. Atom Smash40
Someone said In Flames. TheDefiniteArticle
The better metalcore tends to have less metal than hardcore aggression in their sound (although I'll second BTBAM), often accompanied with some mathy influence. I'll recommend Converge very highly, especially the albums Jane Doe and No Heroes. Botch are good, although they're a bit of a brain-blitzer sometimes. There's also the crossover thrash which was originally called metalcore before the likes of KsE came along and stole the name, like Cryptic Slaughter, D.R.I., M.O.D. and S.O.D. All are highly recommended, although I'm sure it's not what you're looking for. Trap Them could be called metalcore, and are excellent - they combine death metal, hardcore and grindcore with hardcore being the predominant element in their sound. Earth Crisis are okay. Apart from that, I'll advise you stay the hell away from most of the genre.

TheDefiniteArticle
Botch is mathcore, which is ultimately derived from metalcore, and heavily. It's like how one wouldn't be too far off to recommend someone Scream Bloody Gore if they asked for brutal thrash.

CommonEra
I recommend Dir En Grey (deathcore/metalcore; good Japanese band, although you may want to skip their music videos xD), the Black Dahlia Murder (their Ritual album is great), and Between the Buried and Me. CommonEra
I honestly don't know how to properly categorize TBDM, because you can hear the death/melodic metal in them, the vocals are really metal/death-core, though, to what I know. Either way, good band to listen to. :P
champion
Although it's a genre filled with a ton of [cabbage] and bands that sound far too similar too each other, I like quite a bit of metalcore. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0js0lBOV16o
CommonEra
Suicide Silence is good too, but I guess you can consider them death metal too (for some of their songs).
champion
I never liked Suicide Silence. Too many blast beats. All their songs just seem really repetitive and similar.
