21-Sept-10 Gunnar's Ground

21-Sep-2010 - Gunnar's Ground

Why doesn't the barbarian village have a proper name? Why are these savage warriors living deep inside civilised lands? Why is there a dwarf slumped against the wall of their village' date=' looking miserable? Take a trip west of Varrock to find out!

This new quest, for both free-players and members alike, delves into the history of the barbarian village. Gunnar's Ground focuses heavily on the story and the characters in it, but there's still time for RuneScape's first poetry puzzle. Free-to-play mages will find the new rewards especially interesting. Although this is a novice quest, additional rewards are available to high-level crafters.

Gunnar's Ground replaces Romeo & Juliet in the quest list. We think of it as a spiritual reworking of this classic quest to tie it more deeply into RuneScape's own background and stories. You'll recognise some of the story elements, but we've kept things fresh and interesting. To understand more about the reasons behind Romeo & Juliet's removal, read the Wherefore Art Thou Romeo? blog.

Players who have completed Romeo & Juliet won't receive any more Quest Points from Gunnar's Ground, but will still be able to play this new quest for the rewards. Players who had not completed Romeo & Juliet will receive five Quest Points from Gunnar's Ground.

Anyway. High level crafters, this is quite interesting. And Free to play magicians. I guess I'll go to barbarian village then.

Sorry about that. I have no excuses, but we just didn't think they were appropriate anymore. We have had similar feedback on "Why did you change that picture on the wall in teh pub it was my fave picture OMG". "Bring back wildy ditch it was my mum" or, indeed, "That female banker in the GE was HAWT why delete!! OMG!!"

Heehee, the Dev blog for this is quite funny.

Quest seems intresting, mainly since it's a quest I'll actually be able to do on release.

Then it's back to TF2 for me. <_<

So... Will rewards for the new quest make it worth doing for the ones that have completed Romeo&Juliet? Can't say I love quests, and you don't get questpoints for it if you completed Romeo&Juliet, so :P

Well, I'll have to see how the quest itself goes. At first, I didn't want them to eliminate an old quest, but now that I've read the blog I understand and mostly agree with them. I just wonder what precedent this sets for removal of future quests.

If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.

But I agree, update sucks.

C'mon! The update hasn't even happened yet and you know it sucks? At least do the quest and give it a chance. Not everything can be "OMG a new grand master quest with a new weapon that lets me hit 999999!".

Well, I wish everything could be a new grand master quest with a new weapon that lets me hit 999999.

From the time I reach 99 Defense and HP to the end of August I'm going to try and get a bunch of 99s.
