What do you think of that Jagex can't fight off the bots? At this world, w42, 97% of the people were botting. On world 160, the quickchat world, 100% of the people were botting.

There's bots in most places if you look. The pileup of green dragon macroers by the new wilderness wall amuses me to no end and i take great delight in reporting each of them.

 

In fact a J Mod came along and banned them on the spot on one occasion. High level accounts too! :mrgreen:

Why the hell cant we ask for Mods assistance? In maplestory you could ask for assistance, if enough ppl on the minimap did, they came and banned ppls

I think Jagex is starting to look into this issue as they reported a while ago that there were bots abusing the Soul Wars mini-game. Currently they are commonly found at Aubrey's in Varrock, at the Red Chinchompa hunting spots, at the Green Dragons in Wilderness and the Chaos Tunnels, and perhaps at Living Rock Caverns.

 

I just hope the ban hammer comes along and gets rid of many of them. However, banning accounts shouldn't be the only thing. They should ban IP Addresses so that they won't just go and make another account only to macro later on.

epic picture!! I agree, it's well out of hand, these bots aren't like in the old days where you could find them with the standard avatar wcing yews at lumbridge. They're bigger and badder and need to be taken down a notch.

I lol'd when I saw that picture. Me and my clan set up a cannon in from of aubury's. Like 7 bots were stuck there.

 

But guys, let it go. We are never gonna get rid of all the bots. Killing bots is like making a cure for the common cold. it just changes too fast.

As much as I would like to detest the amount of "work" that you have to do on runescape just to be able to play it to a full extent, after you're finally done, having some nerd sit there and get your levels in a week because some repeating program runs 24 hours on his computer is just... well... :wall: To that end I absolutely abhor bots.

Thats freaking awesome.... I'm seriously considering taking a visit just to view the spectacle. It'll be interesting to see how much Jagex takes advantage of this opportunity.

ROFLMAO :rolleyes: An excellent observation if I do say so, best post I've seen in a long time. That said, you're unfortunately right; bots will constantly evolve and there'll always be one ahead of the macro/bot filters.

now exiting my messed up vew of reality, people have rules, thuss in pure logic, it is inevitible that rules will be broken. botting will not stop for as long as mmo's do not stop, rs is no exspection (infact, probably rs WILL be the exspection but to the other end. this is quite an easy game to bot reletively). to try and gain an advantage is totaly normal and understandible, sometimes that means steping outside the lines.

if only jagex could get more people working for them, a 300 people team whos entrire job is to catch bots would be a blessing from guthix himslef! but even that probably only will dent bot population.

After a long abscense i returned to runescape's fishing guild. Of where i was chatting with my boyfriend and i answered 'Nice' in response to something he said and promptly a botter answered with 'ty'. It made me LOL.

 

Botting has never bothered me, really. It helped stabalize prices a little bit in my opinion, but I'd never do it myself.

Just go to the fishing guild and watch how many people move in synchronization from one pier to the other when their fishing spot moves.

 

Too bad the bots aren't smart enough to recognize there was a spot right next to them. :|

1) The point of a rant topic is just that, he wishes to complain (and in most of our opinions rightfully so) about the absolutely rediculous amount of bots that there are. I hope that clarifies that. As for botting in it of itself do you not feel that it devalues the game or your personal experience?

What? I know why he made the topic. I am saying these are made right and left, and seeing as I've been around here longer, I do believe that I am more aware of their presence then you are. And I'm not posting my opinion on botting, I'm merely stating do not say that you're opinion is fact. And so what? What about all the price merchants? Password scammers? I'm not "raging" (if it could be called that) at the fact that the topic is made; but it seems all people do is whine and report. Whine and report. Now, you'd think that whining would raise awareness, and reporting would send succinct punishment. But unfortunately, all whining does is make others rage, and all reporting does is "IRONICALLY" get the innocent one banned. How do I know this? Check out the other botting topics, some made as early as December, and yet, there are topics like this still springing up. There's no point to it, I see the rants forum as a place to get rid of rants in a sense. Rant about something, but then look for a way to over come it. These topics do not serve that purpose.

Not ironic at all, I must say. I will live and let live, unless the liberty to live and let live is threatened, then I will kill or be killed. I find it funny that now it's acceptable to make statistics with no way of backing them up with proof. When I was muted due to a Jagex error, I played on the QC world so people would stop bugging me.

That does not prove they are bots. All that is proving is that they are not moving. What if a player is rcing, click on the portal and then goes afk? I do that sometimes, if I'm in the middle of my house lets say, I will click on a portal and go afk. Also, bots can open doors. Which is exactly my point, bot's are so much more advanced than is the popular opinion. While I have no doubt that the majority of them are bots, don't make it so concrete. Thats why I report bots very rarely, if someone is not talking to me while hunting, not only do I welcome the silence, I also just assume they're not talkative or muted. If they are botting, and get to 200m hunt xp, well good for them. It's their choice to make, if they are wanting to risk such a grevious punishment, one I can't risk, then I think they deserve the reward. Besides I'll always know, that once I get off my lazy bum and get 99 hunt (I've been 93 for like... a month L), it'll mean more to me than it will to them. And that's just how life is, it's not fair, and while trying to make it fair is a good thing to do, don't waste your entire time trying to make it perfectly fair by reporting everyone out there. Eventually you *will* get some people banned.

I find the "Bot Hunters" to be much more annoying than bots. I've resorted to turning off all chat (except Friends) while playing RS to ignore you morons. Just because I don't answer every friggin' 15 seconds to "[insert skill] level?" doesn't mean I am a bot...i refuse to respond to stupidity.

 

Spam opening/closing the doors catches legit players just as much as bots - the diff is it makes me angry at the players not the bots - at least they don't spout stupidity while they do what they do.

 

@ the player who LOL'd at the "ty" response - how the hell do you know they weren't making a convo meant to be a private chat, but instead said it in open chat by accident? It's pretty vapid of you to think that everyone at the fishing guild is hanging on every word you say! I've gone and made comments in open chat before that were part of a private chat by mistake, and it would appear to be a random comment since the beginning wasn't out for the world to see. Who knows - I was probably reported by one of the legion of P-Mod wannabes.

 

Again - HOW DO YOU KNOW? It's your opinion, but you can't back it with any concrete proof, can you?. Jagex sometimes has a hard time distinguishing bots from real players because a lot of us go silent while playing - have you heard some of the discussion points at the Fishing Guild? You would play in solitude too after some of the topics I have heard there and in other 'common' training spots. I decided to turn chat off to keep my IQ from being lowered.

 

You do realize that false reporting is abuse of the system, and prevents Jagex from investigating actual bot reports, right? It's too bad Jagex doesn't make false reporting as serious of a crime as offensive language - wouldn't that be a hoot!

 

As I stated in another one of "These Topics", either adapt or wallow in self pity. Instead of complaining about it CONSTANTLY, try to come up with alternate ways of dealing with the issue instead of increasing the number of threads.

 

I think the Tip.it Forum Mods should place a moratorium on these topics - beating a dead horse won't make it get up on its feet.

As for people who bot hunt, door closers and the like aren't bot hunting, they're being general d-bags so thats irrelevant. to use my example before, if I dropped two vials on something people were right-clicking to activate anyways it wouldn't make much of a difference to human players as they would know to move their mouse up the extra inch or so while bots aren't programed to do that. Its rather benign and very effiective.

 

As for why we beat a dead horse? Hmm I'll use an analogy... on the prime time news they always talk about the recent thefts and other crimes that have occurred. Its old news, they've done it for 50-60+ years now a "dead horse" yet they still do it why? because it pisses people the hell off! He's ranting in a rants forum and you denounce him for it! Its not like we force you to read these topics! If you're sick of them, why are you wasting your time clicking on the link and reading the whole thread? Yea, real players totally stop moving, yep, all 16 of them decide to do take a break at the same time and then say there for 10 minutes.
