Nuff said. #6 - JourneyDon't Stop Believing is absolutely played to much, but they have very many very good songs. #5 - My Chemical RomanceA little on the emo side for me, but I love them anyway. #4 - Michal JacksonWhat a legend. Little creepy in his later years but in the top 5 no matter what will come in the future in my book. #3 - The Beatles#1 In many peoples opinion, but #1 and #2 are more enjoyable for me to listen to. #2 - Lady GaGaSome people call her a freak, a man, an alien, countless things but you can't deny she has some of the most catchy music of the last decade and its only getting better. *Drumroll please* #1 - Green DayBeen listening to them since I was in fourth grade, and I love their music like no other. They're all good bands sure, but they are not even close to the same level. Journey and the Who are in a whole different league and category. I believe that you can't compare across generations because music is cyclical and progressive by nature. The reason "they don't make bands like that anymore" is because if we had the same bands playing the same styles over and over again, no one would listen to it. Embrace the change in music over time. That isn't to say that all new music is good (good being a subjective term), but at some point the hard-on for the 70's needs to go. It was a great era for music, but it is not the be-all end-all of modern music. But what I would consider "good" music has to have actually vocal and instrumental talent, good staying power, good production (this is a biggy for me for whatever reason), and good lyrics. "Your music taste sucks!" is not a legitimate phrase to use ever once you reach... pre-school age? Nobody cares what music you don't like. Now the OP is terrible, but for entirely different reasons. I thought the point of threads like these was to give people who hadn't listened to your "favourite bands" the incentive to actually go and do so? You might as well just have put a big "these bands have some good songs" in all caps and listed them. "So many good songs" is a catch-all with no definition. Using only that to describe a band's music gives me absolutely no information - it means nothing to me. Like I said, no one on the internet cares what music you like or don't like, so the point of these threads is to make them care. Instead of just typing "man there good songs are really good" to describe a band, it would be nice if people would put in a few seconds' worth of effort to actually [bleep]ing articulate their thoughts. People regard me as some kind of obscure hipster music deity here but ****ing hell you haven't even seen what's in my music folder. Lots of black metal aside there's stuff most of you would point and laugh at for me listening to because you're so "above" music that's simple yet entertaining.
