The Observer
Next novel I'm supposed to be reading for school is called The Kite Runner. It's about boys growing up in Afghanistan during the Taliban regime. Sounds interesting actually.

sees_all1
Reading Freakonomics now. The book is starting to bug me because I disagree with the point its making on abortion and violent crime, but I can't argue back with the author. In his argument he also contradicts what he says in other areas of the book. I'll probably finish it sometime this week, but I feel like I'm wasting time and money. 99 dungeoneering achieved, thanks to everyone that celebrated with me! ♪♪ Don't interrupt me as I struggle to complete this thoughtHave some respect for someone more forgetful than yourself ♪♪♪♪ And I'm not doneAnd I won't be till my head falls off ♪♪
EmperorJosh
Currently reading: Game of Thrones - George R. R. MartinProdigal Mage - Karen MirrenThe Lair of Bones - David Farland I usually pick up one book and finish it quickly but I've been slowly switching between these three for a few weeks now. Kimberly
I got like half way through A Game of Thrones. While it was good, I don't like how it doesn't get the reader invested in characters. Since it deals with so many people at once, I don't feel like there's a character or two that I can really get attached to, and I like having that element in a book. If you got half way through the first novel, I can understand why you're having a hard time feeling an attachment to any other character. I personally found the groundwork the novel laid out to be engaging enough to get me through the first book and into the second, where things really start to get interesting. If you can, I'd really suggest you try to finish the first book at least before you write off the written series :P

Obtaurian
The Wheel of Time series. I'm on book ten. I've always been an 'epic fantasy' junkie (LOTR, The Golden Compass, Harry Potter, The Transall Saga), and this is by and far the best series of that genre I've ever read, if not the best book series I've ever read period. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.

Distracted
Confederacy of Dunces. Really nice book, the way the characters are introduced. I usually read it with a smile, the big blend of different characters combined with the absurdity of some of the situations, without those situations becoming unrealistic, makes it a real pleasure to read. Next on my to-read list is Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

Jeffwilson99
I liked Van Helsing. Part of the book can be boring, but I find that to be the case with a few older novels that I've had to read this year, like The Curious Case of Dr Jeykell and Mr Hyde, Frankenstein, etc.
Sy_Accursed
I love Bram Stoker's Dracula. One of my all time favourite novels; I think to many people write it off as their mind is polluted by modern vampires or modern dracula stories and even modern retellings of van helsing and can't put all that away in a little box and thus find dracula boring as it doesn't have all the same flare to it. But it is like the ORIGINAL story, it's just awesome.
