Shadow Silk Hood

What is the fastest (in general) way to obtain a hood? I have probably seen around 30 spiders in normal play but not one hood (as in not seen a hood and had a teammate take it, but no hood at all). I have also tried soloing F35 c6 mediums (leaving before boss), but have yet to see a single spider, let alone a hood drop. Should I be doing c1 smalls on a different floor?

(Assume that I will have bad luck in groups and that someone else will take a hood drop before I do if one does drop)

Choose a floor that night spiders appear on (preferably a higher floor), and solo it (medium). When you get to the boss, simply leave the floor without finishing, then repeat. Keep doing this till you get one. I have no idea how effective it actually is, but I've heard of people getting their hoods within a couple tries.

I was wondering this too, I was c6 med soloing f35 for at least 4 hours today and only saw one spider (No hood ofc). You think I'd have better luck just going in large groups to get more of them or just keep up with the soloing?

That's what I've been doing

I just did a c6 med on f30 yesterday. Got the spider and the hood less than 5 doors opened. Just keep trying. If it takes more than a whole day, you're just very unlucky.

Maybe you're just very lucky

I think that might be about average

I'm 67 dung and I've had my hands on six hoods total (usually give them away to a good team mate who i think deserves it). I've always done my last 10 floors c6 5:5 large. most of the hoods I've seen on floors 23-27 and usually every 10 or so spiders killed.

I've seen more hoods than this but I did not pick them up myself so I don't count them. also keep in mind I usually form my own teams and key for myself so I can stay at the head of the action and try to complete floors as fast as possible so I see most monsters before anyone else, this could be a tactic you can try if you want a hood.

I do F35+ c6 5:5 large, but before I did F25 c6 5:5 large. I key frequently, but haven't seen a hood yet (and I expect that a teammate would take it first if one did drop)

P.S. I'm 79 dg and rising :|

I've seen a spider in a c1 occult floor (43, to be exact), so maybe just do a whole bunch of those?

Lol why were you doing c1 f40+

I just got 87 dungeoneering and I had to quickly do f43 (which I already completed) to unlock f44. :)

To add to this, i had never seen a spider until i got to the occult floors of which i've done about 8 total (5:5 large) and i have seen 5 spiders, but no hood, not that my laggy comp would let me get it anyway unless i saw it alone. I'm thinking about doing occult floors on med and not finishing them.

I can confirm c6 med floors are good for hood - got my first one in under 2 hours :). However, I stupidly bound armor over it and am now trying to get it back - 1-2 hours in and haven't seen a single spider. It's pretty much all luck.

So c1s are viable for spider-hunting? Because night spiders tend to appear in bonus rooms

You cant do c1 meds so keep doing c6.

Yeah, but I was wondering if c1 smalls might have a better chance to spawn spiders because Zaaps was saying that he saw a spider on his first F43 c1, whereas I see approximately one spider every five floors I solo on med (F35)

Well I can't vouch or whether or not it's viable, but I will say that it's possible and warrants some looking into.

Although I'll also say I decided to kill that spider for the lulz, got myself poisoned, and got no drops from the spider. It may very well be that the drop tables change on c1, but 1 kill is not nearly enough to draw that conclusion.

I got my hood from a c1, although i don't think doing c1's is the best to get hoods(spiders are very rare).
