01-Dec-2010 – Do No Evil

Think of the Ape Atoll monkeys and what comes to mind? The food-fixated King Awowogei? The three wise monkeys and their pranks? Being slapped around by ninja monkeys? Whatever you remember of the Atoll, it’s likely to feature in our new master quest, Do No Evil!

That’s not to say that you’ll be monkeying around in the same way as before; technically, Do No Evil is a desert quest that just happens to involve apes. So, what will result when you throw a monkey wrench into the serious and sombre workings of the desert? Finding out is only half the fun, as you monkey see, monkey do your best to help set up a simian colony among the sandy dunes.

Push through the good times (and the bad) and you’ll earn a chunk of experience, access to a unique location and a new transport link. You’ll also learn more about the lesser gods (particularly the monkey-headed goddess Apmeken), tie up some of the desert storyline’s loose ends, and gain some insight into what is yet to come.

My last workday of the week, and now they bring out the update I've been waiting for the whole week. Bleh! Well, at least I had time to finish Epic Mickey before this. And I'll get to play the new quest after 11 hours anyway. 8)

Here are my thoughts going into this update..

Before - Monkey graphical update, Monkey graphical update, Monkey graphical update, Monkey graphical update..

It does seem odd that there wasnt a monkey graphical update though. The new monkey in Varrock is updated like summoning pets, why not the others?

[hide]Anyone got past the bit with the choc ice? I've switched to ancients but I can't use the glider back to Gnome Stronghold from Al Kharid so I'm not sure what to do.[/hide]

[hide]You have to walk/run from the Desert all the way to the Gnome Stronghold, then go to the first floor of the Grand Tree, go speak to Daero, speak to the next gnome, then the gnome on the Island, you'll then unlock a checkpoint so you don't have to do it all over again, just getting from a to b on Ape Atoll itself[/hide]

You have fun with that.

Just got a new item from the quest so far *spoiler*

[hide]Ater a certain point your Accumulator get's upgrade to Ava's Alerter with an added +1 to range offense and +1 to mage defence :D[/hide]

No.

Man this quest is the most annoying quest to come out in recent memory. They forgot all they've learned about not requiring a metric ton of random items, not requiring a ton of running around without providing teleports, AND they made us run across the entire map for no real narrative reason.

This is horrible.
