Your dream job?

Ape

Recommended Posts

So, being on work placement for a week I have decided to ask TIF to see what they believe the dream job is.

Personally, I am going to University next year to study Computer Sciences and Maths - with this I aspire to be a software designer/developer and possibly delve into Maths a little more. This is my realistic goal, whereas my dream job would be to play basketball for the NBA (I play for Wales (UK) internationally at the moment) and was hoping to move to the US to play when I was younger, but the scholarship wasn't amazing. Another dream job of mine would be to be a professional rally driver, or gamer.

What are your thoughts? Any aspirations, goals, etc?

New sig to come!

I'm gonna start studing architecture next year. I don't want to have to work, really, but I feel that when I have to, architecture will be the thing I enjoy the most, given that I'm good with numbers but at the same time you can pour your creativity on it.

I haven't aimed too high, though my ideal career would be in the creative industry, working as an art director.

I'm currently working in the Web design department working on my own designs. As much as I love it, I find that today (been here for a week constantly designing for the same company) I've hit a brick wall in terms of creativity. I've tried a few different designs but none of them have really set it off. I can imagine if this was my actual job, I'd become very frustrated. I've whipped up something like 3 designs in 3 and a half days so I guess that's quite productive. =\

Web designs aren't really my area of interest - I could never see myself working for a web agency seeing as writing code just doesn't click with me.

Real job: Programming/systems analysis. I do that at the moment and quite like it.

Dream job: Professional hockey player. I'm terrible at hockey though.

What do people find appealing about systems analysis? I've never got my head around that. I don't mind to dig at your hobby but it strikes me as a little boring.

Think of it as building something, like carpentry or construction, except virtually rather than physically.

Getting paid to write and argue. And to be able to do it outside, at midnight, with amazingly realistic robotic strippers.

(And no, I'm not trolling: that was the best that I could come up with.)

My dream job would be one where I get paid for doing absolutely nothing. Constantly.

But I'll settle for being a teacher. English, Math, Drama, Computer stuff, any of those I think I'd be suited for. Also being a librarian would be good, since I love books and stuff, and libraries seem to be moving towards the whole technological centre thing, and I really like computers too. Working at a school as a librarian while being a substitute teacher would pretty much be my legitimate dream job.

Police officer, will be graduating next year with a Criminal Justice degree and then going for the city police or RCMP. Dream job would be scuba diving or filming cool documentaries about animals or ancient places. Just generally exploring new places

The absolute best dream job would to be my own television show producer and director. The producer part so I have complete control over it. I could do some movies as well.

A fairly good realistic job would be a film editor. Working with footage, arranging them in certain orders, and maybe putting some special effects.

Video game industry here I come  I'd love to do JUST promotional art for video games. I say "just promotional" because that artwork is complete, refined and you really pour your heart and soul into it. In contrast, concept art is a bunch of quick sketches.

Currently a wildlife biologist field assistant for tribal fish and wildlife department. But I do a lot of falconry related work in my spare time for education and airports. Have to help chase away geese, ducks, and pigeons away from the airports to help prevent bird strikes.

Guess I already have my dream job, get to work with animals, and outdoors a good majority of the time.

Getting paid to make music (play the drums) would be a kickass job but realistically something like a translator or getting paid to travel about (travel journalist maybe?) would be a pretty good goal.

Spending time at Uni doing what I thought I wanted to do when I left school (environmental science type thing) made me realise I don't like it as much as I thought and languages are more up my street which is what I'm now aiming for.

I want to own a pet store. Either that or own a music venue/bar. Because that would just be cool.

We'll see though, thats 100% subject to change.

Hahaha, in a landlocked city where the waters are frozen a good chunk of the year kills that. Good idea though

Working alone. Away from society. That will be my dream job.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Proenneke

On May 21, 1968, Proenneke arrived at his new place of retirement at Twin Lakes. Before arriving at the lakes, he made arrangements to use a cabin on the upper lake of Twin Lakes owned by a retired Navy captain, Spike Carrithers, and his wife Hope from Kodiak, (in whose care he had left his camper). This cabin was well situated on the lake and close to the site which Proenneke chose for the construction of his own cabin. Proenneke's bush pilot friend, Babe Alsworth, returned occasionally to bring food and orders that Proenneke placed through him to Sears.

Proenneke remained at Twin Lakes for the next 16 months, when he left to go home for a spell to visit relatives and secure more supplies. He returned to the lakes in the following spring and remained there for most of the next 30 years, coming to the lower 48 only occasionally to be with his family.

He brought a video camera with him

Wish I had the skill set for that sort of thing
