I was down in Brimhaven dungeon, cannoning fire giants for slayer. Had full guthans, whip, defender, black mask, cannon, etc. Power decides to just RANDOMLY go out, and when I log back in, sitting in lumbridge with Guthans top, bottom, and whip.

[bleep] slayer.

[bleep] the power grid.

[bleep] slayer.

[bleep] cannons.

[bleep] runescape.

I know I know, ring of life. Shouldnt have to worry about being disconnected anywhere I'm in combat. And you would think the cannon would stop firing after you loose connection.

The hell with this game. Canceling my membership and putting this as the reason.

So power cut out, you lost a few pixels.

Therefore this is reason to throw a strop and quit the game?

Must remember that throwing a strop and quitting is the method for dealing with minor inconveniences these days.

If I remembered that I culda quit uni months ago cause the bus was 2 minutes late!

If you need reasons to quit, then you probably aren't ready to quit or you feel you have too. The only thing you lost that can't be easily replace is the defender and I believe (if you can) you should have at least 3 in the bank. I remember way back in '07 when I went to iron drags with all my stuff on my old main. But I forgot my antifire shield (lol) and lost 200k worth of stuff which was all of my cash at the time. This was just after the GE came out. I soldiered on until '08 when I wanted a range pure, and Spiral Fire (at the time radon114) was born.

Bottom line: If you need other people to tell you to quit then you obviously don't want to quit. Runescape won't kill you like smoking will, there's really no push to quit.

This shows you have very little understand of how the brain's psychology chooses to work.

If someone lost their entire fortune, literally everything they had, because it was all in dollar bills and got burned up; then chose to kill themselves, many people would understand.

So quitting a game after losing prized treasures is hardly strange, and in fact, is quite commonplace.

Doesnt make it any less stupid though.

Worthless coloured pixels in a game of some form that has no real values lose is meaningless comapred top actually losing real money that clothes you and feeds you and keeps a roof over your head

Ahh, it's ok OP. Just ragequit over it for a week and you'll be back before you know it

Hey, at least you kept your whip right? But that defender might be a pain if you don't have another one in your bank.

Yeah, if you ragequit for a week, and then come back, the place will be empty and getting another d defender will be a breeze. Then it will feel like you lost your d defender, and just went right back and got another one.

That much is fairly easy to make back. If it was like a a divine/500M, i'd understand.

Can divines actually be lost (apart from skulling in pvp)?

As for OP, I feel for ya. But during these moments it's just best to trudge on. All of the items you lost (except defender which you should have a spare) are easy to replace if you got the cash, so at least every cloud has a silver lining.

Yea, but quitting a game isnt as bad as killing yourself, so its all in proportion.

O.O

There was a cold spot in my chicken pot pie Hot Pocket, my only course of action is to shoot my dog, poop on my neighbor's lawn, and smash the toilet with a hammer, then post about it online.

[bleep] hot pockets

[bleep] temperature

[bleep] crystalization turning water into ice.

[bleep] freezers

I'm never buying a hot pocket again and putting this as my reason.

I mean, otherwise I'll look like a reactionary child, right?

You'll be back in a few weeks, once you're no longer grounded because mommy heard you throwing a fit over a video game.

So you lost a defender+black mask+guthan helm+spear? That's really not all too bad. You can always get a replacement cannon from that dwarf for free.

If you carry enough of them :P. Or ancient statuettes. Or onyx rings (i). Arcane, spectral and elysian share the alchemy values, as well.

Meh. My first bad death was because I set up a cannon next to an ogre shaman. Didn't even know they were attackable at the time. Lost guthan + fire cape (cape was very rare back then) and stuff, and guthan was 30m at the time.

If you already wanted to quit then just do it.

If you're just frustrated remember that it really won't take all that long to make it back. If your internet is inconsistent, use ring of wealth in the future.

I still don't understand how one could die with 80 defence and guthans, even with a disconnect...

Fire giants can hit 110, and he was unfortunate enough to get hit with a combo of high hits.

How much money per hour could he make?

Lets say 1mil an hour, lets say minimum wage in his country/state is $8 an hour.

If he lost 100mil thats equal to $800 loss.

To those guys who lost 2bil+ (major party hat owners that lost them somehow) I can see why some people end up killing themselves. Not that real money (nor pixel money is a good reason to) but I can see how much a loss like that hurts.

That's like saying you lose $40-80 every time you go to sleep :shame:

Can't put a price on pixels unless you're actually willing to sell them to someone for real $

People have lost their car, their belongings, their house, even family or loved ones, and never thought of commiting suicide, and you can "see why some people end up killing themselves" over losing money in a computer game? Life isn't something you can put a price on, certainly not in gp. It scares me to see how people value life. Suicide is never an option, no matter how much you lose.
