I haven't seen a screenshot showing Altmer so I'll keep adding as I find them, and new information of course:

-Joinable Factions: Rebels with branching path quests (Stormcloaks) and Riverwood Tavern Warrior Clan.

-Pickpocket skill provides greater RP opportunities and much more realistic thievery for thieves.

-Myriad options for face-paint.

-Even minor NPCs have much more complexity and depth compared with Oblivion.

-Character Generation remembers your settings when switching between races

-You can persuade various random NPCs to accompany you and they feel like fleshed out, interesting companions.

-There are six different stages to crafting items. The first two are: Refining crude ore and Assembling materials.

-More realistic alchemy labs.

-In addition to alchemy ingredients there are also reagents.

-Some spells can be learned by reading spell tomes, while others can be bought from merchants.

-Hand to Hand attacks have a much improved gravity and physicality.

-There are more ways to complete quests.

-Lockpicking mini-game is improved.

-There are bards in the game.

-You can choose not to spend perk points each level, and hold onto them instead.

-During Character Generation you can add laugh lines to your character.

-There are dozens of sliders for character creation.

-Aurora Borealis is confirmed.

-You can have animal companions.

-Bosmer "Animal Allies" Racial Ability confirmed.

-NPCs can throw rocks if they are on a bridge above you

-Glow Worms confirmed.

-Killable Bees and insects confirmed (you can harvest bees from beehives).

-Fast Travel costs money.

-Perks do not stop at level 50.

-There are more types of poison.

-Bosmer are immune to most types of poison.

- Mud crabs are in the game.

- You can have as many or as few quest markers active as you like.

- Magicka, health and stamina slowly regenerate over time.

- You no longer need to sleep to level up.

Isn't the whole point of a large open world kinda defeated when you can teleport around at your will? This is probably a good thing. Does it actually cost money as in working the same way with a cost, or will we have to use transportation services like in Morrowind? That's the real question, and hopefully it's the latter.

I liked the way they did it in Fallout where as soon as you discover the place you can fast travel to it. Of course with TES the world is so much bigger than in any Fallout game.

That's how it worked in Oblivion too.

I prefer to be able to quick-travel to cities and villages...as of some sort of transportation system. On that, there should be a lot more country-side villages too. It was disappointing to see the "cosmopolitan" Cyrodiil was virtually empty.

I honestly don't mind having it cost money to fast travel.

Like Yahtzee said in his Oblivion review, being able to fast travel to any location at will defeats the whole purpose of a huge game world.

I wonder if the system will work like Daggerfall, where you have to pay gold to inns when you fast travel.

Well you don't have to fast travel every time. The option is there to walk if you want to. Don't just not take it and then [bleep] about fast traveling ruining the game. If you don't like fast traveling then dont fast travel. I guess it's a little late to complain about the complainers now. It's fine, there will be a mod for that.

I liked the exploration of Morrowind without fast travel, and I liked the fast travel system of Oblivion for looting purposes. When I didn't want to use it I didn't, there is no reason for it to be considered ruining the game.

Plus, if you are playing these games on a PC like you should be, then you can change whatever you want with mods anyways.

This

Exploration is very fun, but sometimes you just want to get from point A to B

I just looked for a mod for Oblivion for that, sadly no one has made any yet...

Bethesda needs to add planes mounted dragons.

And not just as a mod either... That, or some new mounts.

Looks like I'll be playing this on 360 :/

god damn expensive pc gaming...

Shame, you wont have access to any mods and the top end graphics only availiable on a PC.

Remember in Morrowind we had Mark and Recall spells so that you could get from one place to another in some scenarios. I did find that I explored less in Oblivion but I think that was more to do with the lack of stuff in like someone else said 'cosmopolitan' Cyrodil. Exploring in Morrowind was fun but it got old I remember when I was a noob to the game I would set Speed to incredibly high and the same with acrobatics point myself in the right direction and jump - there was a certain art to setting your levels appropriately so as to not end up far out to sea which was infuriating. Alternatively you could set speed ridiculously high to the point where you could run fast enough to take off and fly. Also wasn't there a non-cheating way to do this? I seem to remember some altmer landing in front of you with some kind of superjump scroll in his pocket but not ability to land softly. All this stuff made travelling in Morrowind quite a lot funner.

You could enchant your armor in oblivion to walk/run faster than a horse can move, it made traveling much faster.
