Modern Moneymaking Techniques

Hey Tip.it!

It's been far, far too long since I've roamed the land of Asgarnia....

I last logged into Runescape about 2 years ago, and it's been a long time coming, but I'm finally ready to plunge back into the game. When I logged on, it got me wondering... what are some of the new money-making strategies? Looking at my measly 300K in the bank, and all the new quests (I almost had that quest cape too!) I'm at a bit of a loss on what to do first.

So here's what I'm wondering. What's worked for you guys in the last year? Are there any strategies you'd like to share with your fellow forum goers? Thanks for reading!

Below are my current stats, just in-case you have a specific suggestion for me:

I'd slay green dragons and collect the bones/hides its even more profitable than before.

Do herb runs of snapdragons and Im not sure if you've already completed it but do the manage thy kingdom quests and do that.

Thats all I can really think of at the moment, I'm sure someone eles will add more.

Thank you Muddy,

Yes I have completed the manage thy kingdom quests, but I don't believe I have enough money to begin investing and make a profit. What do you mean by herb runs of snapdragons?

And I'm sorry to get all specific on you, but I think fairly mathematically... so how many green dragons do you think a level 92 could kill an hour? How profitable would that be? Thanks!

Oh, and here is my profile "high scores" on Runescape.com itself:

If it helps!

As a sidethought, I noticed the price of logs (specifically yew & magic) are doing quite well still. I'm okay with doing some woodcutting to get some quick cash if that's the most efficient method available.

Generally skilling fails for money and combat is where it's at.

I can't give any sort of concrete numbers for your level, but I would agree that killing dragons may be a good way to start. There are some new dragon spawns in the chaos tunnels if you weren't aware of those.

Another decent idea is to train slayer or something where you will make small profits from the monsters, but get combat stats up which leads to higher future potential.

Once you have enough money (750k is the minimum you need to have in the kingdom at all times in order to spend 75k per day) you should do kingdom. Make sure you've done both quests for 15 workers. Not worth it right now though since you can't put in enough.

Thank you, that sounds like solid advice.

How much money does Kingdoms rake in? I've done both the quests or I wouldn't ask, but now you've got me intrigued... :P

This would be a rough gusse but maybe 150k per day? It's well worth it anyway as it only requires maybe 20mins per week.

Farming snapdragons is well running around farming the 4 herb patches ( 5 if you've done the quest.) and selling the herbs for profit. The value of the herbs far exceeds the value of the seeds and once you've planted them go back in 45 mins or whatever it is and repeat.

Sorry I'm not sure how much you can earn per hour from green dragons although I beilve you should be able to get 500k p/h pretty easily.

In the general guides section there is a guide by Laura on "dailies" shops you can buy stock from and sell on the GE for profit, following her guide completely will rake in around 1-1.4 mil a day. Combine that with any other money maker and in a day you have enough to start MTK. RSwiki has a chart that updates based on the GE To let you know what the most profitable things to put your workers on are.

After you build up your cash for a week off of that get involved into herb runs for sure, you should have enough for the seed investment. Don't do snaps though unless you have scroll of life or like higher risk. Herbs like toadflax or kwuarm etc will net you about 100-150 k profit a run and you will make even if only 2 patches live. Always however plant ranarr/snaps/torstol in your My Arm's patch as it can never die.

Later you can get into flipping but start with this.

This looks very promising, thanks!

I've got a few goals now too, it seems this new summoning skill is quite useful. Thanks for the tips & links guys. From what I'm seeing here, it looks like my best way to go would be to follow this guide for about 1250K then go onto kingdom management for more profit.

slayer to get your combat stats up

get 85 dg

frost dragon until maxed combat

dks/tds/bandos til your bank explodes

This will be my long-term goal

Try dungeoneering for a bit. If you find you like the skill, you can train it while farming for money, along with your dailies. Once you get to frost dragons, you'll have a few million ready to buy gear for them, and if you don't like the skill you can always get the scroll of life (requires 10k tokens, or about level 50). The scroll increases your farming profits by a bunch.

Are you trying to be funny, or trying to give bad advice, or do you think it's good advice?

Either way, fishing sucks.
