Bandos Items

Hi,

 

I was wondering, with the new level 80 armor incoming, would it be a good idea to sell my bandos chestplate in case it crashes, or since it only mentioned life boosting and high defense, will it not matter as bandos' strength outweighs higher defense?

i would hold on to it. and wave out the crash. Most people have high expectations for new things and they just end up being dissappointed

 

but if your gonna sell it now is the time beacuse its already crashing

Bandos is nearly useless at 99 defence anyway. I sold mine a week ago after I realised I didn't wear it anymore. Veracs and proselyte are more usefull for slayer / general gear mixing for bosses.

 

Your money would be better spend on prayer/herb.

I won't generalise like that, but yeah... Bandos is only good in some specific situations.

I've always believed bandos was inferior to barrows. Whenever someone suggests slayer gear, I always say get Torag's instead of Bandos. :P

You should have suggested Verac's then. Prayer bonus > Defence bonus. You should be using piety/turmoil anyway.

I usually said Torag's because I only recently found out about Verac's Skirt and Pros Plate.

And since you don't have extremes, I'd suggest training herblore until you can get them. New boss will inevitably raise the cost of prayer and herblore.

Ah the thing is that when (and if) free trade comes back, I will have access to exts + turm, so then should I still sell bandos or will I use it after that?

Im pretty sure you will sell when you use it often, compare it to other armour pieces, and be disgusted @ bandos for ever even dropping it for another player to sell to you.

I highly doubt a paltry +6 str bonus of bandos would make any significant difference...

Fortunately your belief in the importance of strength bonus is not a prerequisite for it to be true. Prayer bonus is nice, but really the cost of prayer potions is negligible at almost any prayer bonus. Also prayer bonus has diminishing returns and anything over 25 is generally considered a waste. Bandos plus a soul wars cape a fury brings you up to 19 prayer bonus which is more than enough if you are really concerned that much about saving money on ppots.

 

Str bonus has no diminishing returns and on any monster where accuracy isn't an issue is valued over anything else.

Bandos is better for slayer than any barrows set AFTER you have turmoil and extreme. After you have those, once you save the money, you should start getting gear (like bandos)

Anyways, what do you plan to fight the new boss in?

I use my Bandos + Soul wars cape for all tasks except spirit mages (since those are the only task I use protection prayers on), that's more then enough prayer bonus to do an average task in only a few prayer pots.

 

As for the OP's question. You simply need to answer one thing....

Do you use your Bandos frequently?

If the answer is yes...don't sell it, and ignore any GE/Street prices

If not, then consider selling it for things you'll actually use.

I don't have turmoil or extremes, so I only know of my armour.

If my understanding is correct, then the new Armour will offer only a larger defensive bonus and the Str Bonus (if there is any) wont match up to Bandos. So Bandos Armour is likely to stay the price it is now.

All Jagex have said about the new armour is that:

 

- It will have 'life point-boosting' abilities.

- It will have the best defensive statistics to date.

- It will significantly change the way high-levels think about combat in the future.

If the new gear has no strength bonus, I think Bandos will remain superior for slayer and perhaps dks if it also has no prayer bonus (less mage penalty than most plates & the ranged defence is probably the least likely to be improved on).

Bandos will still be the best in it's niche: slaying/some monsterhunting (dk's and bandos gwd mainly). For safe and dangerous pvp, there are other armours (barrows mainly).
