Death Rune Crash

As many of you may well know, death runes have recently crashed. Hard. In a little over a week, they have dropped by roughly 100 each, and are still continuing to drop. What do you think the reasons for this are? I was personally expecting them to go up with the return of the old wilderness, so I was especially shocked by this.

Perhaps it was a hot item for 76kers? Just some runes because they were going to mage people to death... perfectly normal... riiight? But with all that going byebye, they just don't need them anymore, so drop.

After inspecting the GE chart, it got me surprised to, good for mage slayers though. Perhaps out of fear for the returning wildy, low(er) lvl rc'ers are double timing it at abyss, crafting death runes till they can start rc'ing astrals and nats. If they pick the intermediate blood runes to train on too, we might see a drop there as well.

Maybe because people realized that the boss Jagex released is YET ANOTHER boss where mage is useless, so they sold all of their deaths for more useful gear.

Neither of those make any sense. People didn't stock up on a sufficient amount of death runes over the few weeks we knew about nex before her release to account for a 100+ gp drop. Nor did 76kers use death runes lol..Seems like the former person just wants to blame 76kers for another thing which they didn't mess up.

Either supply increased, or demand decreased. Going by occams razor,(with my current knowledge that is) I'd say the former is most likely true, someone(s) sold a very large amount, saturating the market.

Sorry guys. It was me.

Not really, but this is a very puzzling discussion.

It looks as if it began falling on Dec 30th. The wildy referendum was affecting the market well before that. The new boss had not been released. There was not a steep rise before in any of the months previous, so it is quite baffling to see it happen now.

I agree with stonewall337 that the supply must have increased to a saturation point in the market, but the real question would be: who?

Who has enough death runes to saturate the entire RS market and cause a steep fall in prices?

When double nature runes are worse profit & worse xp than deaths any sane person goes to deaths..

So when natures crashed death rcing suddenly became a lot more popular. It took a bit of time for the death runes to spread out in the economy, but now you'll see the effects.

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Perhaps Zokot decided to sell all his banked deaths and thus singlehandedly brought around the crash? ;) <3:

Reacting impulsively and saying what's on your mind feels oh so good.. for a little, until you realize you just started WWIII.

I don't think this has to do with any RC'er or specific person crashing the market. It seems to me that the 'raw material' market is tanking. I was looking up plank prices, all of them started a nose dive right at Jan 7. I looked at ores, same thing, Jan 7.

Looking at the home page for updates, all there was on the 7th was the clan logo contest and the 10th anniversary cake. Even going back to the 6th, all it was is a gallery. So I have no idea why thinks started crashing on the 7th, but it can't be a coincidence that they all fell on the same day? Can it?
