Michael
09-Feb-2011 - Prisoner of Glouphrie and Gnome Graphical Rework An adventure starts with an old letter found in a disorderly storeroom Who would have thought one letter could lead to a mountainous trek to Lletya in the company of a gnome adventurer' date=' via a path that no human or elf (and only one gnome) has ever trodden before? And thats only the start: youll be decrypting Yewnocks most ingenious, and most puzzling, calibration device to date, and youll get a unique and revealing insight into Arposandra life. All of this awaits those who choose to investigate the fate of...The Prisoner of Glouphrie! Level 86+ farmers will also be pleased to know that the new spirit tree patch mentioned in Behind the Scenes - February does also come with the ability to plant up to two of these trees. During the quest, youll meet members of King Bolrens family tree, and they, along with every other gnome in RuneScape, have had a visit from the Makeover Mage to give them a much-improved new look. Be sure to check out your favourite gnome NPCs at the Tree Gnome Village and Battlefield (in particular those riding on terrorbirds and battle tortoises), the Tree Gnome Stronghold, the glider pilots, and even members of 10th Squad on Ape Atoll. Profanity FilterWeve added a new feature to the old chat filter, now renamed as the profanity filter. Its default function is still to be turned on to filter out all the words (and URLs) on our blacklist, but weve added the option for you to turn the filter off. We recognise that RuneScape has a maturing player base and, as such, wish to give you the freedom to choose for yourselves, while also still keeping the filter for those players who do not wish to see swear words and the like. This is, of course, not a cue to be disrespectful of or towards your fellow players, as all RuneScape rules still apply. If you find swearing offensive, please do leave the profanity filter on. Equally, please do not try to circumvent the filter. Also, even turned off, we will still be filtering out URLs (though we have plans to add a whitelist of 'safe' sites), and any chat that contains your password will still be completely blocked. Game World ChangesWe have switched four worlds (worlds 21, 32, 40 and 85) from free-to-play to members-only, to deal with the increased demand for member worlds since the Wilderness was reinstated. World 85 is also a LootShare world. [/quote'] The following small fixes and adjustments have now been made to the game. If you spot any further bugs in-game' date=' please use the Bug Report feature ('Submit a Bug Report' under the 'Help' drop-down menu of the website). Graphical * Azro at the Varrock Museum no longer spins his specimen brush at extreme angles. * A player's cloak will no longer clip through a player's legs when crafting at a workbench. * Wolves have been given a turn-on-the-spot animation. * Cockroach wings no longer cause the cockroach's body to become invisible. * The abyssal parasite's defend animation no longer stretches unusually. * The Dungeoneering skillcape will now play the melee emote when wielding mauls. * The slayer master minimap icon has been reverted to the gold skull icon. * Opening a gate in Draynor no longer causes the gate to split in half. * The teleporting using fairy rings animation has been updated. * The map in the Runecrafting Guild has been updated to include Daemonheim. * Summer's hair during Summer's End no longer stretches. Audio * The jumping agility animation has had its sound improved. Quests and Tasks * Some additional user information has been added to progressing and completing Tasks. * Dream Mentor is now correctly filtered out of the quest list when a player has a combat level lower than 85. Activities and Distractions * It is no longer possible to try to stake a number of items greater than what can be held in a player's inventory. * The countdown at the beginning of a duel is now far more synchronised. Miscellaneous * Using a right-click option on the western Lunar Isle bank booth will now force the player to walk to that bank booth. * Wizard Cromperty will no longer wander outside of his house. * Party hats and Christmas crackers will now change in price by up to 5% per day, dependent on demand. Maximusa
Well profanity filter is great! Asin its turned off obviously. However they wernt really clear on how this effected existing rules besides same as usual. They state they still apply but all that really means is that we are all now allowed to see people braking rules and the actual words? Compared to a system before were it was filtered. I would like the rules to be addressed so those above 16+ are treated like adults who can talk maturely like adults however are not allowed to be disrespectful at the same time. Easy example is.. *someone dies* >they curse< Or "Hi mate, >F< alwful weather today! work was >s< =(" Compared to... *Some immature person* ">you M* F* NOOB. YOU GO *bleep* your mamma<" (obviously I have had to censor due to forums >.>) I mean.. I think the last example SHOULD be against the rules but the first two shouldnt be. Atm all that has changed is that we can see both people braking rules with the unfiltered words. Anyway the update is still nice for general purpose where it doesnt filter loads of things that shouldnt be filtered. I suppose thats the main point of it. Mercifull
They should have asked eople last week to fill out their date of birth. Then this week only allowed the profanity filter to be turned off by people ages 18+ similar to how under 13s have to use quick chat. Of course a lot of people would give a false age but its better than the free for all we have now with kids swearing all over the place. Then this week only allowed the profanity filter to be turned off by people ages 18+ similar to how under 13s have to use quick chat. Of course a lot of people would give a false age but its better than the free for all we have now with kids swearing all over the place. That wouldn't solve anything - if younger kids wanted to swear, they'd just evade the chat filter. As it is now, they can see their glorious cuss words in the actual chat. If you're not bothered, shrug and move on. If you are, keep the filter enabled, and you'll just see stars. Previously, they'd _have_ to resort to filter evasion, which meant that you'd see the (mangled) cuss words either way. Sure, there might be an increase in cussing right now, but once the novelty's worn off I'm sure it'll go back to what we're used to. Edit: of course, as you say, having a chat filter that actually works and doesn't have 10 false positives to each cuss word it filters would be ideal...but yeah, I don't see that suddenly happening after all these years :P
Mercifull
To me, part of being an adult is being able to talk without using profanity.Yes but quite often the over zelous filter catches many legitamate words. I like the idea of an on/off filter but there is no reason why the 's', 'f' and 'c' words shouldn't still be filtered. These have no genuine use in-game.
