Mercifull
Anyone offering potential winnings of more than 9 times the bid (because even if each flower had an equal chance of growing there are only 9 types) then it's more than likely to be a scam. This is because over a lengthy period the planter will give out more money than they get back. I think there might even be a bot script available now to scam people out of money. Yesterday there was a person at the grand exchange walking back and forth doing the usual spamming "green:wave:Flowergame 10x 1m gp min bid" over and over auto typing but he wouldnt answer any questions actually directed at him and when I traded with him he accepted the trade windo almost instantly and clicked accept as soon as I put 1m in the window. I cancelled and reported because I thought this was a clear attempt to scam and/or using macros too. Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Say you get a 1 in 7 chance of guessing the colour (this seems to the the figure most people are quoting it works out to for the main flower colours) and you are a planter. In order to afford to give out a whip every 7 bids (1in7) then you need to make the minimum bid 270k in order to break even (on average). Offering 50k bids for a possible whip the planter would need 38 losing bids for each prize payout, at 1 in 7 odds of the bidder getting it right this makes no financial sense. Anyone offering more than 9x the bid is either a scammer or a fool. A 50k bid shouldn't give a prize of more than 450k. Amethyst_Gem
All star ranks in the cc "sullivan" are guaranteed to be trustworthy. World 2, usually west of the cooking guild. Note that there are a couple of players who go there who may even be in the cc who are NOT trustworthy ([player name] is a notable scammer to watch out for who shows up a LOT). Non-star ranks and non-ranks are usually (but NOT always) trustworthy as anyone who is known to scam is kicked from the cc. This cc has existed for about a week now. People in it generally do either x5 or x6. Each person has slightly different rules though so be sure to check with the person who is hosting your games. Mercifull
You could gamble in Pokemon. A revamp of the Burthorpe games rooms is needed. If all stuff goes through escrow in there then there is no excuse if you get scammed by betting outside. Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Guest jrhairychest
@Racheya – I’ve read that you’re 18 and at Uni. The odds are that you probably don’t have kids or that type of responsibility towards them. You’re also very young which is why I take the ‘lets play poker I do it elsewhere’ with a pinch of salt. However, a company like Jagex has to maintain certain responsibilities, which may be legislative. If this company is seen to be allowing kids to be gambling using activities that do not border on fantasy context then there may be implications for Jagex, which includes safeguarding legislation for children as the company is UK based. So while you think you’re being clever trying to put smart arse comments up like that, you’re not because you’re not thinking of the wider implications. @Mercifull - That actually may work because it’s using the fantasy context. You mean using RS NPC character cards? I’ve ignored the Escrow bit for obvious reasons. @Ring_world – It’s stylisation instead of reality. That’s why kids can watch something like Lord of the Rings and see a goblin being beheaded. It has no real world context so it’s classed as fantasy violence. However, reverse the role and have a human being beheaded and you’re just ramped up the rating to a 15/18.
Mercifull
My simple vision of runescape cards (which could be used for a multitude of games) Escrow is basicly how staking works now. You both put up your bids and one of you will get the winnings. It's not possible to scam someone out of their reward if they win. Bladewing
we need to get rid of the thieving skill because it teaches kids that thieving is good kids cannot tell the difference between a video game and real life and will, with 100% certainty, emulate whatever they do in video games in real life. this is caused by one sole factor: the existence of features in the game that are not acceptable in real life.
