Ring Of Wealth Notices

I've been noticing lately that when using my ring of wealth i've been getting a lot of random ass notices at the bottom, i thought these were supposed to show when someone rare/off rare table shows up but now im realising that its even popping up on just bone/hide drops (Been killing loads of Blues for Clues).

It randomly is showing when i'm just getting 100% drops so is this a glitch or what?

I havn't had it show up for anything ACTUALLY RARE like clues/half keys. It just randomly shows it on regular plain old stuff.

it only says about it shining when it helps the drop

not when you get a rare drop

Pretty much this. You will find as well when killing certain Slayer Monsters such as Abyssal Demons and Dark Beasts that it shines on every kill (I think it's because they have a unique drop? Not entirely sure though) but almost all the time it wont actually be a drop. Also I believe that a "no drop" is classed as a rare drop, in which case your ring will shine but you will get the normal 100% drop and nothing more.

So hows it helping me when im getting nothing but a drop I get no matter what? It's not like its helping me get Dragonbones and Hides.

Well, it does theoretically make rare drops more common and also gives you a chance to get some RoW-only drops like the controversial "100 noted torstols" drop and similar. I think the ring is somewhat overrated, personally, but if you're lucky, it can radically fatten your bank.

Many people say there are. Can you even show me one example where someone got one of these huge noted drops which the monster had never dropped before the update and where no RoW was used? Until then, you can't convince me =/

the ROW does the exact same thing it did before monday (other then adding it's effect to clues, barrows, monster specific drops etc.)

The only thing that has changed with drops is more drops were added to the rare drop table.

Wearing a ROW will theoretically make these drops more common, but it is not a requirement to get the drops.

I don't even own a RoW and since the update I've gotten 500 noted big bones from dark beasts, and 12 dragon daggers total so far from about 8 slayer tasks. 2 came from a black demon task, 3 from an iron dragon task, 2 from dark beasts, 4 from a steel dragon task, and I don't remeber where the last one came from.

99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving.

Jagex'd out of my untrimmed hp cape on 6/14/2011.

I've gotten none of these drops and I've been slaying. Just my luck I guesss.

So does this mean the RoW is still quite pointless?

I'd say so - I used it for about 6 or 7 tasks and I did not really notice any improvement.(every time it gave me a message it was basically just a emerald or sapphire - or a clue)

I was really hoping for it to improve charm drops, seeing as they borked some charm drop with the update.

For most things, but it still have some new uses now that you should have the RoW for.

#1) Clues. Since the ring helps with getting better items from clues, it would be silly not to use it. No other ring(or item) would give you any better benefit, so if you are finishing a clue scroll you should wear one.

#2) Item farming. If you are killing monsters for GP (Eg. Bizzles, Metal Dragons, Nechs..) it would likely be in your best interest to wear a RoW. If all you are concerned about is making money, that extra bonus the ring gives for expensive drops will likely pay off in the long run.

If you are concerned about XP, task speed, or anything besides exclusive GP, you would be better off not using the ring UNLESS you are using ranged.

If you are using ranged, its a good idea to look in detail at the monster you are killing. If the monster you are killing has low defense, and you already hit a 95%+ accuracy on the NPC, the ring of wealth may be a consideration.

This is because a players range bonus can be raised to a very high level. There is a very little difference between 180 ranged accuracy and 172. Magic is much more difficult to get a higher boost on, so typically the loss in -6 magic attack is a greater loss than -6 ranged attack.

At the end, it all boils down to personal preference.

Actually a berserker ring (i) adds quite a few kills/hr to for example abyssal demons. 5+ more abyssals is around 1% of a whip, 5 ashes, a crimson or two, plus random other drops. The row is (thankfully) still weak.

to me this sounds like it wasnt a ROW update, but just a improvement in drop tables, or more of a slayer update then a ROW update.

It sounds like the ROW does the same thing it did before, jagex just added more drops to monsters, irregardless of ROW.
