Gamecube General

The gamecube was Nintendo's 6th generation console, the sucessor to the N64 and the first Nintendo console to use optical disks instead of cartridges

the Gamecube housed many great games, such as

Resident evil 0,

REmake,

Wind Waker,

Twilight Princess,

Pikmin 1&2

Super Mario Sunshine

Mario Kart double Dash

Starfox Adventures

Sonic adventure 1(DX)&2(battle)

Rayman 3

TimeSplitters 2 and Future Perfect

Burnout 1 &2

Dispite Nintendo's efforts, the Gaemcube failed to sell more units then the N64 (33 Million N64s against 22 Million GameCubes)

however, the gamecube made more profit to nintendo then the pS2 did to Sony or the XBOX did to Microsoft

Discuss the GCN here!

My GameCube still works perfectly fine after almost 10 years, while my PS2FAT randomly doesnt read discs while either vertical or horizontal

controllers ( mostly the L and R triggers and the A button) are going downhill

adn the OPEN bottun is stuck a bit sometimes

I'm not sure if a console whose life cycle ended around 4 years ago deserves it's own thread.

Besides, what are we really supposed to be discussing here? I'm kinda confused unsure.gif

The nostalgia and the memories mostly.

I never played on a Gamecube, so I can't comment much on it. But I always thought the controller looked funny.

Dude, the GC controller is my favorite controller of all time. It's probably because i played my GC 24/7

I think this thread is 8 years too late...mind you the gamecube did bring 2 of the most interesting bond titles: goldeneye rogue agent (which arguably had the most interesting campaign storyline of any bond game, as well as having the most interesting 'weopen set' that featured both superpowers and ubercheap weopens), and 007nightfire (which had arguably the best multiplayer, due to the balance of weopens/good maps). Also kinda surprising that you left metroid prime off that list, seeing as it was the 3rd highest grossing game that nintendo put out (behind ocarina of time and super mario 64). Most of these games though are available/better on the wii, namely the prime trilogy and twilight princess.

So... Should I be ashamed that I unplugged mine when I bought a Wii? I still play a lot of GCN games, namely the Prime, Zelda, and Pokemon ones, as well as Fire Emblem on occasion.

No, because the Wii plays Gamecube games, with a Gamecube controller even.

Luigi's Mansion wasn't good enough to make it on the list?

His list was lacking in other regards as well. Someone mentioned Symphonia, there was Animal Crossing, there were the Mario ones (Luigi's and Sunshine, probably among others), and Smash Bros.

Yeah, I think he flawed the list huge, seeing as he literally left out every good game, and added a bunch of bad ones. New list:

Windwaker, twilight princess, goldeneye rogue agent, metroid prime 1 and 2, luigi's mansion, resident evil 4, marvel nemesis: rise of the imperfects, tony hawk pro skater 4, 007 nightfire, and pikmin 1 (pikmin 2 not added due to the less-enjoyable storyline)

I never owned a gamecube, i bought into the PS2 hype at that time and never looked back until the Wii came out. I do however still have my N64, such a great system from back in the day. I liked it much better than the PS1.

And Foursideking, please put this in your signature.

I think thats the code you intended for your signature but you broke it by using the wrong format. You have to use img tags and only bbcode. You're using <>

Atleast i think thats what you intended.

Has anybody ever acquired ALL of the figurines in the nintendo gallery for Wind Waker? Some are a real pain in the rear, and I'm attempting to currently, just don't have much time.

This feels exceptional on my under-carriage.

Still have our purple cube, and three controllers. The off-brand ones fail, but the black one is still great (although we got ours near the end of the console's lifespan, late 2003). Animal Crossing is by far the best, but I also love Super Smash Bros. I never got the chance to play Super Mario Sunshine and I think my childhood was ruined because of that. I never figured out Luigi's Mansion. We also have Pikmin 2, which is really entertaining.

Pikmin 2, good call.

Gamecube controllers were still being made as of a year ago, but they don't feature a Nintendo logo any more so it must be an independent manufacturer who gained the rights off Nintendo. I believe they still go new on eBay. Got two for SSBB last year and they work fine, if anyone needs more controllers.

I play GC games on the Wii from time to time. Rogue Leader/Strike, Tales of Symphonia, the Prime series. Wind Waker remains my second favourite Zelda game (behind Majora's Mask). Double Dash of course, but F-Zero trumps it because I once held a national record for one of the mission tracks. SSBM remains the favourite game in the Smash community. Colosseum gives me hope that something thicker than Battle Revolution is awaiting the Wii for Pokemon.

Ahh... when the big games weren't ubiquitously FPSs and no-one cared about online stats or K/D spreads. The most competitive it got was a Melee game between friends and Mario Kart time trials over a dedicated Internet fansite. Them be the days. :shades:

How dare you forget Super Smash Bros Melee?!

Also Tales of Symphonia. First JRPG game I played and it got me hooked

Oh I had some good time with that little box.

My GameCube is collecting dust next to the Ps3/Wii.

Everything still works perfectly.

I also have 6 controllers, since they gone off the market.

2 Wavebirds and 4 purple originals.

So many memories. <3

Well, metroid prime/prime2/windwaker were the top 3 games for the gamecube period. I still remember when they released those games 7 years ago, and I bought the 'bonus versions' of the games for the same price as the originals (bonus versions being around 40bucks more in price). Bonus versions of prime/prime2 came with posters of all the 'major bosses' of the respected games. Bonus version of windwaker that I picked up came with a 6inch figurine of toon-link, a poster featuring link/the pirates, a t-shirt featuring the triforce on the back, with the front having the windwaker logo. Oh, and it also came with a voucher to save 25bucks off a nintendo power subscribtion.
