Firecape Setup Update

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I was recently looking at the fire cave section of the website located HERE, and noticed one problem

This problem comes in the inventory and equipment recommended for completing the mini-game and receiving the notorious Fire cape.

The problem:

-Weapon outdated

-Ring changed

-Inventory changes

The Fix:

-Change Rune Crossbow to Chaotic Crossbow

-Change Ring of Slaying to Archers' Ring

-Change Pots in first inventory to:

--2 Range potions

--6 Saradomin Brews

--18 Super Restore

-Change Pots in Second inventory to:

--1 Range potion

--6 Saradomin Brews

--18 Super Restore

Reason?

Chaotic Crossbow is similar to the Rune Crossbow but it is 30% more accurate.

Archers Ring provides a better Range bonus.

Saradomin Brews are excellent for healing Constitution(HP)

Super Restores have the same effect as prayer potions but heal stats lowered from Saradomin Brews as well.

Cheers,

Misfortune.

Also something to add to this so I do not create a whole new topic would be to add an animation of the Jad's attacks. This will better inform players what they are up against and how to protect themselves from each individual attack.

Those are not rings of slaying, they are dragonstone rings (i) :P.

You don't need that many brews & restores either, the range pots are for repotting after brewing. Also the chaotic crossbow pretty much sucks, you would use Karil's crossbow or a handcannon if you wanted to all-range the caves. With kxbow, crystal and handcannon you can use a soul wars cape & easily eagle eye/rigour the lot as well.

Anyhow melee is much better.

Holy Crap - 6 hits, and Jad's dead. I've only ever gotten to like the 60th or so wave, and I've heard that getting to Jad is the easiest part. =(

Going to be making a few changes to the guide based on this submission and general new ways to do the fight caves.

I'll tweak a few things with the current range setups, but they seem fine to me for these reasons:

  • Doing the caves with range is a lower level alternative - unlikely to have a CCBOW
  • Defence of fight cave monsters is fairly low so range bonus is less important
  • Higher levels are likely to have a CR before a CCBOW anyway and would use the melee method.

In summary the current range setups seem fine, however I'l add a flowchat of items with them to clear up some confusion and incorporate things such as the CCBOW, however the inventory is fine for its purpose.

and this bring me onto the more fun part, the melee fightcaves method.

Obvious reasons to do it this way are obvious, and I'll add a little list of reqs for it along with setups and inventories. If anyone wishes to post their setups for it here then the help is most welcome, I did the caves myself this way but It'd be nice to see the slight differences in setup just for comparison etc.

It'l be loosely based on CR/Claws/Ovl/Bandos and then a lower Whip/Barrows/extremes/Claws setup, both work fine is just a time thing of course. Post away if anyone has any ideas etc.

EDIT: Lots of changes have been made and hopefully I've covered everything discussed here. Locking this now :)
