Sitting with friends, over skype, I sat there yawning for 10 solid minutes straight. Seriously.

My jaw hurts. I feel tired .I CAN'T STOP YAWNING.

Here are some photos and videos to stimulate you:

After reading the title I suppressed all urges to yawn. Though it is pretty easy since I just woke up.

Same here, I could feel the urge coming.

I'm pretty proficient at suppressing yawns (a valuable skill, I know), but the video did make me fight it.

I know yawning's got something to do with getting extra oxygen to the brain in times of inactivity, such as when you're tired or bored, but why are they contagious?

Actually, I remember reading that that's not the cause of yawning and that people just aren't sure yet. I'm not sure about this though. But yeah, it's something strange.

I've never actually felt the urge to yawn when someone else yawns/references yawning. One time a person in a group of friends yawned, the other... about threeish people yawned too and I just sat there feeling kinda awkward and out of place, haha.

Yawning like a [bleep] after reading this thread.

It's funny this comes up as we had a conversation about yawning at work today and I've yawned all afternoon.

This thread is terrible for my habit. I usually skim along to see any new posts in threads; if I see one I read the title for a few milliseconds then click. My body clicks before my mind says "Oh crap it's this thread again- YAWWAWWN"

I fought the urge through post pics and the video, and through about 1/2 the posts. Then I let my guard down and immediately yawned.

Edit: Oh, woah, I didn't mean to quote that post after I actually did yawn. Woops.

My skin is finally getting soft
I'll scrub until the damn thing comes off

I've had this discussion with several people before. I yawn a lot though, it's a reaction I have when I'm standing waiting for someone and I see them approaching, or mid-word when I'm on the phone - I think I do it during times of slight, unavoidable awkwardness.

/FG/First thread post to when I joined the family.
