Bows
Hey guys, most of you probably don't even know who I am as I'm not very active in the world of RS clans. However, I would like to change that today. :) The purpose of this topic to to basically give me information on how RS clans differ from other gaming clans, what I can expect, what things I should know, and how clans work I suppose. If this is in the wrong place, feel free to move it. I'm mainly looking for a friendly, fun, and mature skilling clan as I'm not big on PvP combat. Maybe someone can recommend a few? Thanks in advance! - Bows
Nobody
RS clans aren't that much different from any other gaming clan (imo). Certain features tend to be common across most games, clans tend to have their own private forums, some form of audio (Teamspeak or Ventrilo being the most common), their own IRC channel and/or CC, and some sort of focus (skilling, PVP, PVM, mini game, etc.) They also tend to certain requirements and expectations of members, obviously they vary with each clan and depend on its focus. Most clans will require some level of activity on their forums/in-game (excluding community clans possibly). Clans work like any other organization, the specific structure varies depending on the clan but they're organized like any other group or organization you care to think of. Clans are like people, they each have their own unique personality, history, and motivations; you just have to find one that fits you. The Recruitment section is the best place to find clans that best suit you. You can also join #clans on SwiftIRC to meet some members of various clans, I'd also recommend joining a clan's IRC channel and hanging out there if you're interested in them. With love to one, friendship to many, and good will to all.
Uffan5
I don't know much about skilling clans, but most clans have certain requirements and probably have a website you need to register and apply on, as well as an audio system to interact with other members on. kuru72
If you're trying to find your first skilling clan, you're better off starting with RSB skilling clans then moving up the ladder along the way. I don't think there are any active skilling clans in these boards, but try looking into the "Recruitment" section if you're not too fond with RSB clans. Then again I don't think I'd be much of a help since I've never really payed any attention to skilling clans. The basic and common things about clans have already been said by Quickdrawjoe. The Observer
Getting started isn't very difficult. I'm positive many of the leaders and members you meet will be willing to help you along the way. Just apply and be ready to use voice software (even if you don't want to speak, you can listen in and it will be equally as useful) and be ready to learn a lot of the lingo attached with it. Now, I'm in a combat clan, so those are two of the big things that are involved with that. However, I was in a skilling clan before and I can tell you that they are much easier to adjust to than a combat clan, so you should have nothing to worry about.
