As some of you may know, Dungeoneering hit its first year milestone earlier this April. To celebrate were planning a special Dungeoneering week from the 2nd May! Well have a load of dungeon goodness going your way, and were starting with a special Dungeoneering-themed competition!

Were looking for talented guide makers to send us the most epic guide to Dungeoneering that the world of RuneScape has ever seen! Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to create a guide thats no more than two pages of A4 paper (your default word processor document size) in length, and which gives detailed instructions on forming a group and how to level successfully up to at least level 33. To be in for a real chance of winning you will need to ensure the guide is easy to understand and includes some helpful pictures and diagrams!

The best entry will win some signed concept art and well also be giving away some prizes for the runners-up. We may even show off your epic guides during Dungeoneering Week itself!

To learn more, check out the Dungeoneering Guide Comp forum thread.

Good luck!

Anyone else think jagex are just trying to get well written guides for free?

I submitted a guide, it's on page two of the thread. Hang on, I'll copy it.

Two pages is too short to write a comprehensive guide to dungeoneering, then again to get 33 dungeoneering you don't actually need to do any dungeons.

So yeah, a pro's guide to dungeoneering:

Do the Tears of Guthix quest. Play the minigame. Repeat every week until the desired level is achieved.

If dungeoneering is not your lowest skill, do Penguin Hide&Seek instead, spending the points on dungeoneering.

It's recommended to get your lowest stat (bar dungeoneering) up to above your desired dungeoneering level.

Penguin points scale differently than Tears, so you should do Tears before Penguins to maximize xp.

^Of course I got to submit that in large letters or it won't fill the page.

I can have a trophy now, thanks :D.

I didn't do any dungeon before level 33. Got to that level with tears of guthix before I did begin the skill. (same as for construction, still haven't build anything except a workbench for a quest)

Anyone else think jagex are just trying to get well written guides for free?

They're just trying to bolster their help areas in time for the Club 99 and Mentor update. And...all guides are free. That upcoming release is largely community driven. So they're trying to give themselves the strength to compete with proper fansites.

Though of course, they're putting the cart before the horse because the fundamentals of their systems are still horribly, horribly wrong.

We finally realised how stupid this skill is at the lower levels. Help.

Need to add on to it:

If you're a currently a free player with a combat level of 90 or above, don't.

99 dungeoneering achieved, thanks to everyone that celebrated with me!

Its funny because its true.

You just dont train skills that low unless its for personal reasons. Anything else is just better to use free xp.

So the guide is pretty much.. how best to use free xp lol.

Then anything after level 40.. or higher even, then you need more than 2 pages.

A4 is the prevalent British paper size (210 × 297 mm (8.3 × 11.7 inches)), but it should be noted that this is larger than the letter size paper favored in the US & much of Latin America (8½ by 11 inches (215.9 mm × 279.4 mm)). Plan accordingly.

Dungeoneering Guide by 0xpx0

Preface: This guide is aimed at reaching 33 dungeoneering within the shortest amount of time on an otherwise maxed account and no pre-obtaied experience items.

The guide:

Starting out at Lumbridge home teleport. Climb down to Lumbridge basement and enter Lumbridge swamp caves. Run to Juna and do Tears of Guthix D&D. You need to score atleast 199 tears to be successful. Assuming you managed 200 tears, you will gain 1880 dungeoneering xp, getting you to level 13 dungeoneering. (estimated time 4 minutes)

Next, teleport to Edgeville and enter Edgeville dungeon. Run to the north side of the dungeon, enter wilderness and enter the chaos druid resource dungeon for 1100 dungeoneering xp, you have now reached 2980 dungeoneering xp and level 16 dungeoneering. (estimated time 2 minutes)

After that teleport to Falador and run far east to the drawen mine entrance, and enter the dwarwen mine. Run west and enter dwarwen mine resource dungeon. This will grant you 1500 dungeoneering xp for a total of 4480 xp and level 20. (estimated time 2 minutes)

Teleport to the Grand Exchange and run southwest. Use your muddy key to enter Edgeville dungeon hill giants. Run further south-west and enter hill giants resource dungeon. This will grant you 1600 dungeoneering xp for a total of 6080 dungeoneering xp and level 22 dungeoneering. (estimated time 2 minutes)

After that complete the Penguin Hide and Seek D&D. With good knowledge of penguin locations(using a specialised clan chat or group for it) and available teleport items this shouldnt take you long. Once you have gained 16 penguin points, use elite Ardougne cape to teleport to south of Ardougne and run north to Larry. Cash all your points in for dungeoneering to gain 8800 xp. You should now be at 14880 dungeoneering xp and level 31 dungeoneering. (estimated time 12 minutes)

Next, use use your glory to teleport to Karamja. Run east and enter Karamja volcanoe. Take a loop around the lava and run south-east to enter the lesser demon resource dungeon. This will grant you 2100 dungeoneering xp, pushing your total to 16980 and level 32 dungeoneering. (estimated time 2 minutes)

For the finishing touch, use your ring of kinship to teleport to Daemonheim. Run to the south-east point of the peninsula and enter the maple/willow tree resource dungeon. This will grant you 2400 dungeoneering xp, pushing the total up to 19380 and level 33 dungeoneering. (estimated time 2 minutes)

Congratulations, you are now the master of smart leveling dungeoneering and have reached your goal of 33 dungeoneering in an estimated time of 26 minutes. In all honesty, I would advise everyone to not do actual dungeons before reaching level 50 dungeoneering, thus continuing with resource dungeons/tears/penguins until that level. At level 50 dungeoneering it is actually realistic that you would start dungeoneering with other people and learning the ropes of how to become a great dungeoneer. I would go deeper into the subject but the knowledge that someone should have for efficient dungeoneering goes well beyond 2 A4 pages, and a comprehensive guide about it is yet to be written, although some groups are working on it.

I won't win, but atleast my guide will be useful. Managed exactly one A4 page

First to 99 Farming on 27. September, 2005.

First to 3766 Port Score on 20. March, 2014.

First to 4664 Port Score on 2. March, 2015.

Honestly, tears/penguins till 50 at least. Explore the resource dungeons as they become available.

Squab unleashes Megiddo! Completed all quests and hard diaries. 75+ Skiller. (At one point.) 2000+ total. 99 Magic.

Two pages? More like two sentences.

Don't level in F2P. Use lamps, tears, and penguin points to level 33.

This should win.

Dungeoneering at lower levels is unexplainably difficult. Heck, after getting through those nightmare levels to get some decent xp, I think I went 70-91 Dungeoneering just from dragonkin lamps/penguin points/other lamps etc. because I can't be bothered training the skill properly. It works fine for me, no need for a guide really.

I got to level 60 on the day of the release. Any levels pre-30 was absolute hell from memory.

You were rank 1 on the first day then yeah?

What a really awkward subject for a guide. It's basically Tears o' Guthix, Penguins, any xp-granting 'lamps', and visiting resource dungeons whenever they become available. I call it the 'lamp method'. It's a really really hard skill to get into the conventional way in Daemonheim, because of the unique way xp is given in the skill. You end up getting about 20 xp a dungeon, it's silly.

You can't make a guide out of this. It's a paragraph that you put at the top of a guide.

You know, how about we just define the 'lamp method', because it can be applied to any skill at low to medium levels, and can be used to save money on costlier skills like Summoning, Construction and Prayer. That way, future guides can just put in a link to the article where appropriate.

I love how you can get all the way to 33 in one go if you get a decent Tears o' Guthix score then open dungeons and do Penguins in the right order though. That should win.

EDIT: Wait, guys, it says 'at least level 33'. I think the idea was to actually go a bit further than that.
