Vezon Dash
Today I bought an Ipad (yay me), and I have seen serveral topics about playing Runescape on the Ipad. However, I can not recall whether this is against the JaGex rules to play on the Ipad. Does anyone know whether this is against the rules or not? Jimmyd17
I've not found anything to say it was illegal. And it's very possible. There's plenty of java enabled browsers around. I couldn't find the old topic, but there's some videos on youtube.
RSBDavid
You can run rs on your computer and use a VNC controller to use it on your iPad. [software Engineer] - [Ability Bar Suggestion] - [Gaming Enthusiast]
FIREWORKS
Why should it be illegal? Even the thought of that is completely ridiculous.
Vezon Dash
I didn't know if it would fall under 3rd party rules due to the special browsers and stuff.
Krampell
It doesn't give any unfair advantage over any other browser so I don't see why it should be against any rules.

I'm not sure, but couldn't using a touchpad give you an advantage over mouse users if you're experienced with using it? It just occured to me, no idea what's Jagex's stance on this. Blake
It seems to me that using it would make things a lot harder. The processor isn't as good, so it would be slower. Also, using things like Excel/spreadsheets and other things on ours are a lot harder than using it on a computer. No right clicks, etc.

But they aren't :P
ixfd64
I actually find touchpads to be much harder to use than mice. ARENAscape: Baratus [AS] max hit: 166 with Moon Battle Hammer ixfd64 [AS] max hit: 116 with (untitled spell #2)
Will H
I've always figured that the Ipad would be really great for Runescape, but unfortunately, Apple. *shrug* If you find a way to play it on the Ipad and still have good performance, you're doing the world a big favour, and it's perfectly legal. Please do it. ~ W ~
Nomrombom
I can play on my iTouch with VNC (it's basically just using your computer through your ipod/ipad) but it's super laggy and hard to play. Could be better on an iPad though. Would be really useful for doing easy stuff like alching or fishing. PM me for fitocracy invite
Matey
It's doable, and as far as I'm aware, within game rules. Is it worth it though? No. RuneScape wasn't designed to be run on a touch device. A lot of people moaned when the iPad was announced to be running iOS and not the Mac OS, but the simple fact of the matter is that for software to run well on a touch screen device (in terms of interfacing with it), it has to be designed to be run on it. RuneScape, like many games, was created with a mouse and keyboard in mind. You just don't get the precision needed from a touch screen device to play RuneScape well at all. It's possible they'll release a version with a suitable front end for devices like the iPad, or just lower spec devices in the future. See here for a snippet of info on RuneScape's 'ortho mode' they've been fiddling about with; the iPad is actually mentioned by Andrew. P.S. I have an iPad and it's a great device - there's really no need for people to bash you for buying one, especially when it contributes nothing to the thread. Meh, whatever. To hell with humanity; The more I see, the less I believe.

Piu
Cloudbrowse app does it fine. It's a browser that supports Java and Flash. No jailbreak required. It's hard to play on touch but not impossible. I use it on my iPod touch every now and then to check on my G.E offers. Takes awhile though. Might be good for ivies. essiw
It is possible to play runescape on your iPad, the only thing is that you need to have runescape running on your computer and you have to run an app on your computer and iPad so that you basically control your computer with your iPad.It has no advantage, it has a disadvantage. I tried it and it is horrible :P http://sign.tip.it/1/2/79/260/essiw.png Retired item crew I would like to be credited as essiw at the website update & corrections forum. Thanks! It wasn't good for playing but with an iPad it might be good with some practice. [404] Signature not found.
RSBDavid
Playing RS on an iPad is possible and perfectly fine, it is just not practical. Jagex needs to create an auction house app like Blizzard did for wow, so you can manage the Ge from your mobile devices. Pete Party
Just to get on the mouse vs touchpad discussion, A mouse allows you to move it an inch and having your cursor move a feet, touchpad required your hand to move 1 feet. Maybe if you use all your fingers you can be fast, but not faster.plus keyboard has shortcut keys :P Me and the wise old man go way back.... he was a foolish boy back then. My crystal armour idea. Maybe if you use all your fingers you can be fast, but not faster.plus keyboard has shortcut keys :P You've obviously missed the entire topic of this post, or have never seen an iPad/iPod. Neither have a touchpad and no mention of of one has been made, both devices use a tocuh screen and the cursor jumps to where the screen is touched. For both mice and touchpads however, you barely have to move the mouse or your finger if you have them configured the touchpad to be very sensitive or have a good quality, high DPI mouse. On my laptop moving my finger within a 1 inch square is all I have to do to cover the entire screen, my mouse only needs to be moved a quarter inch in any direction (5600 DPI). You make it sound like running through a few level 87 monsters is hard which it really shouldn't be at your level.
