Earth_Poet 0 Posted May 30, 2011 Thoughts on Episode 7 [hide=Spoilers]This series just keeps getting better. It diligently follows the book, so I know exactly what to expect, and it's still such a surprise when I see it. Please don't keep reading this if you haven't watched the episode! The scene with Ned and Cersei was brilliant. "When you play the game of thrones, you win or die." Cersei is such a smart woman, and Ned's honor finally betrays him. And once again kudos to the casting of Tyron Lannister! He immediately played such a towering figure, and the great Jamie Lannister looked so small standing next to him. Oh, and Khal Drogo's speech gave me chills. I do have one gripe. The sex scene with the prostitutes and Littlefinger, while it revealed Littlefinger's character (portrayed brilliantly by the actor), may have been a little over the top. HBO has created such a great series, they don't need to risk alienating a portion of their audience. Leave that kind of overcompensating for shows like Sparticus. HBO really doesn't have any good excuses for that scene either, especially since it wasn't in the book. Other than that, wonderful episode, and I can't wait till next week.[/hide]
EmperorJosh 0 Posted May 31, 2011 The series is great, keeps improving every episode. I read the books a long while ago and have been trying to read them along with the series again, I love the attention to detail. HBO shows never fail to impress. Can't wait to see what they do for the second and third books.
Napalm 0 Posted May 31, 2011 It's a shame the first season is gonna end so soon, and we have to wait a whole year for next one :| But well, the wait is probably going to be worth it.

nine naked men 549 Posted June 6, 2011 This episode was pretty much full of badasses outbadassing each other. [bleep]ing awesome. Also, the Greatjon laughs so strangely. He sounds like Grover. And Shagga isn't nearly as Shagga-ish as I had hoped. : ( sleep like dead men wake up like dead men

Earth_Poet 0 Posted June 7, 2011 This episode was pretty much full of badasses outbadassing each other. [bleep]ing awesome.Syrio. Syrio's fight was just as I had imagined it. They did a great job with him. I heard that George RR Martin wrote the script for this episode. If so, then that might explain the badassness. [hide="spoilers]I enjoyed the fight with Khal Drogo as well. It's been awhile since I've read the book, but was that accurate? I thought the Khal took an arrow in a fight (even though he won). I'm probably mistaken, but in any case it shouldn't matter. The outcome is the same.[/hide]

Of course, I don't remember what happened at that part of the book. He did get cut, but didn't he get another injury off-screen? meb 0 Posted June 7, 2011 Loved the zombie people. Wondering about the Wall on the north. Wishing it was more focused on fantasy. I guess the books are low-fantasy, but still...There is more fantasy in the later books: [hide]Mother[bleep]ing dragons and mother[bleep]ing zombies [/hide] Retired 2146 overall - 136 combat - 6 skillcapes Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks. Napalm 0 Posted June 7, 2011 Am I the only one who actually doesn't want fantasy in the story? I thought it did a good job on realism and focusing more on politics, relations and betrayals. When the zombie guy appeared... well, it felt out of place.

When the zombie guy appeared... well, it felt out of place.I'm interested to see how the human conflicts and supernatural conflicts blend later in the series. Would the nobles still be trying to screw each other into the ground when there are zombies (Or worse) killing all their people? There are some supernatural elements, but the story still stays centered around the characters. I really have to force myself from blurting out what happens later and ruining the story. Keep watching. You won't be disappointed. Just shocked.

When the zombie guy appeared... well, it felt out of place. I think that's one of the many great things about the story...so many people in a power struggle, playing their "game of thrones" while either ignorant or unbelieving of the real danger that will wipe them out if they don't eventually face it together. nine naked men 549 Posted June 17, 2011 They get a copy of the new book in advance? /jealous ;_; I hope they CGI the wolves next season... they'd look so much more dire-wolfish CGI'd. ._. And I'm glad to hear Martin's directing the Battle of Blackwater scene/episode, seeing that for real will be spectacular. o_o sleep like dead men wake up like dead men

nine naked men 549 Posted June 20, 2011 [spoiler=Spoilahs and junk.]Pretty awesome season finale. Really liked the CGI on the dragons, apparently the VFX studio thing that does them also did work on Avatar. O: The only thing I'd fault about the episode was the bit where Sam, Grenn and Pyp are gathering around Jon and speaking their oaths. Soooooo cheesy, haha. But then again I thought it was pretty cheesy in the books too. Can't wait for season 2. Brb cryogenically freezing self. EDIT - ALSO [bleep]ING JOFFREY MAN AUGH HE JUST EMITS WAVE AFTER WAVE OF SMUG BASTARDRY. He's so brilliantly unlikeable. Also, I went on /tv/ after I watched it and haha so many people were complaining that Daenerys' hair wasn't burned off in the fire. [spoiler=SPOILERCEPTION (for book people)]The only thing that lets me keep watching him without pulling my hair out in rage is knowing what happens to him. That is keeping me going. sleep like dead men wake up like dead men
