ROW and New noted drops

Recommended Posts

when the new noted drops came out, I read most people saying that ROW is still worthless and to still use Zerkir rings. I have followed that advice so far and have not gotten any of these noted drops. is this still true, or should I use ROW for monsters that have those noted drops?

The noted drops are not row specific. A better option is to ring switch right before you get the kill so the row effect kicks in but you don't lose having the str bonus for faster kills. Row by itself is still not worth it.

RoW just makes those noted drops a lot more common than without. If you really care to, you can use the method described by tieszen above to get both fast kills and good drops, at the cost of an inventory space.

Or you can just forgo the +4 strength bonus and use the ROW anyway. Tbh I'd rather increase my chance for a 17m drop hugely than increase my max hit by ~6.

Right, reducing your killing speed by a significant amount is worth the extremely slim chance at getting a drop that the row hasn't demonstrably been shown to increase the chances of getting...

Good luck with that.

Jagex said it increases chances. I am inclined to believe them, seeing as they did make the game and all.

And how is it significant? Max hit + ~6? You don't even hit your max very often, so it doesn't make a huge difference. Sure it's better in the long run, but I prefer to have a better chance of those drops.

Because Jagex is so notorious for being right about their own game...

*looks at dg shields KB descriptions, and KB stated %chance of saving an ingredient with a scroll of cleansing*

These are two of many examples of Jagex's failure to be correct. Max hit is increased by 14 from a berserker ring so your 6 is a little off, as well as your assumption that its benefit is only seen on max hit rather than your average hit. On top of the fact that you can effectively use both with little effort. If you want to nerf your own damage output in exchance for a hypothetical chance at a nice drop than fine, but don't tell people to subject themselves to the same nerf when they could have the best of both worlds.

That's a description. Not a new, serious, important game mechanic.

I never said it was better to use a ROW. In fact I did say it was better in the long run to use a Zerker. I just offered the option and my opinion. Crime?

You are being a bit harsh Tieszen, but I do agree, RoW is only worth it on some tasks, not all.

Really? Cause as I recall it was you who was the one cussing me at base. Also, re-read what you just said: one 15 second delay (which is an exaggeration to begin with) ruins floor times? You are beyond ridiculous.

Ring of wealth might be worth it if you are doing something with a very high cannon/familar kph for money, something like, chaos dwarf battlefield? maybe frosts but much of their gp is from 100% drops of course.

I've gotten a few noted drops since the ROW update came about, My latest one (Yesterday) was a noted swordfish drop.

I have no idea if that was the ROW doing it's job or what, But I'm keeping mine on me.

Just another note, most all monsters do drop these items, cause they're on the rare drop list.

Zerker not only increases your max hit by ~14, but it also increases your AVERAGE hit.

It is all prefrence. Some people can't arroed 4m to buy a zerker, so in that case a wealth would be a much better option

First off, you were wrong because Zerker Ring = +6 Hit, not +18. Secondly, most people can afford Zerker, but ROW is better if they are looking to spend 2 minutes more finishing their task in hopes of making a quick 20M.

No one said 18, I said 14. Argue with the calculator that supplied that number, not me.

Even before the update, I have always used the ring of wealth.

Yesterday I got a Rune arrow drop from the Rare Drop Table, which was a bonus. Its also been getting me some great seeds on my tasks, such as snaps and dwarf weeds.

Its a matter of opinion, and also depends on if you wish to kill faster or to make more money. Its also proven that it really isnt worth taking on some tasks, which again is a matter of opinion.

But I will champion this ring forever :D Because its cheap, and it wont matter if I die and lose it, because I can just buy another without losing too much money.

A berserker ring is +12 to max hit most of the time, more with void. An imbued ring is +24. That's 6 and 12 to average hit respectively. But since average hit = 1/2 (1+max hit), a % max hit increase = % average hit increase. No need to use average hit increases unless you're talking soak/damage cap etc.

Incidentally a ferocious ring would be equal to ~+13 strength bonus if you look at max hit, but it's really equal to ~+27 due to the average hit.

Since the update I gained 2 slayer levels 1 with out row and the other with row. The level I did not use row I did not get any noted rare drops. The level I did use row I got 3 drops. So I'm going to use row at me level I kill most things quickly as it is the added str don't help much.

Would you just let people do what they want? We're not all looking for maximum efficiency.

I think the funny part is I would bet that half of the efficiency police are so efficient that they macro/bot, which is against the rules. If efficiency is the most important thing, they should we have our character's gaining experience 24 hours a day.....

You are silly for confusing in-game efficiency with irl efficiency. Xp/time played is relevant, not xp/day.
