Recommended Posts

I just got a rapier (yes i know finally). Is it my new all time weapon or do i switch between it and whip depending on the slayer task?

There is no such thing as weakness in slayer (except waterfiends)

The rapier is only 4 less slash than the whip. It's superior str bonuses more than compensate for having less slash attack bonus resulting in higher damage per minute even against monsters where rapier slash is superior to rapier stab.

use whip with daganoths if you use cannon. The degrading of multi combat doesn't justify the speed gained.

Any task you will be under constant multi combat, use a whip.

Misconception. Chaotics do not degrade faster in multicombat.

OT: Use Rapier on everything except monsters that have more of a sensitivity to a certain atk style.

Really? Cause as I recall it was you who was the one cussing me at base. Also, re-read what you just said: one 15 second delay (which is an exaggeration to begin with) ruins floor times? You are beyond ridiculous.

Misconcetption you say? So I was just seeing things when my rapier lost over 16% of its charges after being at CT Dagganoths for a bit less than an hour?

Edit: Just noticed you don't even have 80 dungeoneering yet, and you're talking like you have a chaotic...

This. Chaotics do decay faster when you're using them in multi combat.

I'm pretty sure they decay per hit taken/dealt

Ive noticed the faster degradation in multicombat too when I was cannoning mutated bloodvelds..

OT: Just use rapier even in multicombat. The extra cost should be negligible if you can make 2mil+/hr at frosts anyway, which you should get (85 dg) since you're already 81..

Evidence: The weapon is degradable, and will last 10 hours of combat from a full charge, and will not lose its stats until it reaches 0% at which point its stats are removed.

^ the "time" is actually game ticks in combat...otherwise me walking around in guthans skilling woulda killed it, or walking around with my rapier showing my friends woulda degraded it.

editing on your edit: 1. k-base is unreliable. 2. "and will last 10 hours of combat"

The corp beast, is, well, just a corp beast. He doesnt even have any friends.

I know it is ticks in combat. I was posting that cuz that proves it won't degrade any faster in multicombat. Nowhere does it say it will.

And I'm posting to say that you're wrong, don't own one, never have used one, and are probably going off the KBase or Runewiki entry which is also wrong.

Not only are you wrong, but you are so stubborn when people tell you that you are wrong, that it makes you hard to deal with.

Please stop doing that.

And I know enough by owning one, having tested it, and having talked to Grimy Bunyip about it and had him test it (which he then confirmed what I said about it (This was quite a while ago too, probably 1-3 months after dungeoneering came out. Chaotics were very new and there was almost no data on them, and when I claimed that it lost so many charges in such a short amount of time people didn't believe it, so Grimy was kind enough to go to CT Dags and stand there with auto-retaliate turned off and just let them hit him. Sure enough, without even swinging his wepon, it degraded rapidly)). I don't care what the KB says, I own one, you don't. I've tested it, you haven't. It degrades faster in multi-combat when being constantly hit. It has been tested and proven. Please stop posting false information on Help & Advice, it's not cool to do.

Part of the reason why it degrades in multi over non-multi is simply because you are in combat for longer. I.e. or an hour of training: when you are cannoning dags, you are in combat fo 1 hour, but if you are fighting dust devils, you are probably in combat for 50min.I have never tested the multi combat theory and it would be nice if somebody who has tested rigourously post. However, I don't believe chaotics degrade based on the 'hits' taken because you could theorticly make chaotics last forever by training on men.

@fire, the rs database figures aren't terriblely 'accurate' (absoption of chaotic shields is another example). The 10 hour of combat is quite vague. The amount chaotics degrade could actually be 10 hours with a health bar over your head, or chaotic weapons could have a set amount of hits they can deal for 1% degration and jagex calculated the number of hits chaotics can do, the time between each hit and worked it out to be roughly 10 hours. I don't know if this is true or not but the data given by rs database is not something you should take as absolute.

Edit: I wrote the part in spoiler before I read My_Eggs reply.

Degradable items rely on game ticks. If you are fighting a monster in single combat with a chaotic, it will last for 10hours worth of game ticks, just like the KB says. However, if you are in combat with multiple monsters at once, your degradable weapon is having multiple game ticks being added to it every second. Your weapon will not last as long in multicombat as it would in single combat.

Try to avoid giving advice if you don't have much experience with the subject.

A note on using a rapier in multicombat: do it. Anyone with a rapier can make enough money per hour to use it everywhere and still be efficient, and this is even more true at high dungeoneering levels when you start using tokens to recharge chaotics.
