Sees_All1: Tip.It's #1 troll, and truly a master of the art. He sets the standard for trolling on these boards, and for that he has earned my respect. <3:

Or, did you want serious ones?

Best is a lot harder than worst. I honestly have no idea what the criteria would be. People that have truly, genuinely been worth aspiring to be? People whose contributions have changed the world for the better? The guy that always holds the door open for little old ladies? Do we want grand acts that changed the world or do we want the little things that show that there's good left in humanity? I really don't know.

Could it be that, after years of pessimism and cynicism that, when faced with the concept of good, I'm left speechless? Probably.

Will have to reflect on this.

Alright, I've decided to make a serious list:

1) Danny Carey--for being the drummer that inspired me to take my craft seriously, not because he's "the best ever"

2) My Cultural and Intellectual History prof--for inspiring me to take my studies seriously and to pursue more than an undergrad

3) Both parents, both for very different reasons

4) Carl Sagan

5) Vic Firth

I once met a man named Jesus at a Home Depot. Is this the Messiah returned at last?

And i once beat someone named Jesus in a chess game. Does that mean I'm smarter than the messiah?

People can only operate within the context they find themselves in. A 'pleb' from south London could do twice as much voluntary work for good causes than Princess Di did but we know all which will go down in encyclopaedias and which will have, at best, a brief mention in a local newpaper.

That's the trouble with seeing history through the eyes of 'Great People'.

That's why there's largely been a push from the early 90's on in historical writings towards cultural history--the history of the people, not so much analyzing via leaders and governments. Not that anyone here really cares haha.
