23-Jun-2011 - Introducing: the Members Loyalty Programme!

http://services.rune...yalty-programme

Being a RuneScape member means more activities, more quests and more skills. From June the 28th it will also mean access to a fleet of unlockable and exclusive rewards with the introduction of the Members' Loyalty Programme.

The concept is simple. Being a member earns you Loyalty Points that can be traded for rewards, including an array of new clothes; brand new and exclusive emotes; and, perhaps most exciting of all, an arsenal of gameplay enhancing auras.

Some rewards are just too glorious to fit into your existing inventory and so Loyalty Programme members will also enjoy an additional equipment slot created for exclusive Loyalty Programme auras.

Only current members will receive enough Loyalty Points to immediately make the most of the new equipment slot. To take full advantage of this and all the other rewards available, subscribe today!

Does June the 28th just seem like a lifetime away? Check out Loyalty Programme rewards in this video preview:

Meh, how surprising that they didn't appear to mention / show the auras. The only thing any of us think will be interesting/possibly game changing. GO jagex!

Auras is the first thing they showed.. It appears to be an aura on the weapons. I was thinking aruas on our characters when I heard it though... :mellow:

I suppose it makes sense that everything they showed in the video seemed cosmetic, since that is what makes good video material. Still, I hope that some of the actual stat-affecting options are accessible at launch.

All DFS threads turn into efficiency flame wars >.>

>OP asks "why use DFS?"

>everyone says "there is no reason"

>someone says "stop bashing people who use DFS, efficiency troll ass clown"

>thread is now a flame fest

Stat-affecting loyalty rewards place too much emphasis on time, rather than work, put into the game. Think of how ridiculous it would be to have bunny ears give optimal strength bonus, or completionist capes only available to those with classic veteran access.

I would NOT like to see any stat-affecting loyalty rewards, but I'm sure that will happen anyways.

havent got time to look a tthe whole thing, but it looks good imo.

1 small question- do we get rewards for being members when the updtae goes live or only start getting them when updating membership after the update is live.

Pay us $5.95 now and we add the belt slot where you can hold 30 extra inventory spaces in your belt or wear a belt with +12 strength bonus! If you buy members with the membership card we will also give you a Katana (e), which has a special that heals and hits 25% extra. The special is mage based, as well. O ya and the Katana has the strength bonus of the chaotic maul.

By the looks of it, I really don't like this update. I've been a loyal member for 5 years, yet the people who have just become members (and all those bots) will be considered equal. I guess that's what you get for being loyal...

lol @ the ROFL emote

I wonder if we will get a "Facepalm" emote! :pray:

We already have it. It just needs improvement. :P I'd probably go more for the emotes myself. The outfits don't impress me very much. =X

Looks like a fun update! :) I am torn about the whole thing, but I can see why they're doing it in this manner. Those who only got members recently may find it unfair that those who had members long ago are getting extra rewards automatically, while they have to play another five or so years before they get those every rewards. Likewise I can see where the long-time members may feel that their previous years of loyalty are not being recognized at all. I'm sure Jagex is merely trying to be fair by starting everyone at zero, rather than some with something and others with nothing. If this was done at the start of the when members first came out, then we wouldn't be having this conflict. Although keep in mind too, those who have been members for years are still paying a premium rate ($5.00) compared to those who just started ($5.95), so at least there is some recognition there.

sounds fun, as long as the rewards stay cosmetic...

Seems jagex is using their loyalty rewards system to introduce culture items.

Samba = African

Saxton = British

Eastern = Orientals

Dervish = Middle Easterners

Notice the cannon is shooting green, brown and purple smoking cannonballs. If you catch it at the right second you can see a purple ghost-like figure shoot up out of the cannon. When I saw the green smoke I thought of poisoned cannonballs, but now I'm not sure.
