Pyrelord Firemaking

My friend seems to have found an alternative firemaking method that I think may be faster than anything we have right now.

Here is the explanation he gave me

"Essentially, use your log on the pyrelord when it is either north or south of you, and then use another on a tinderbox exactly 3 ticks after. This method maxes out at about 575k exp/hour using magic logs. Fastest alternative method I've seen maxes out at about 490k exp/hour at max efficiency."

Now here is a link to the video he put together to demonstrate

Any thoughts?

From the video, it looks like the guy's rate of firemaking has slowed down to match the pyrelord's, however because the pyrelord is burning logs too, he doesn't need to bend over for the lighting animation at all.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

I actually tried this about a year and a half ago and it didn't work >_<

But it didn't occur to me to wait 3 game ticks. I figured it simultaneous would work, it'd work like superheating ores or w/e else.

Is there a reason for the 3 game tick wait? Is that just when the fire is complete?

Indeed it is.

So your character will move off the logs underneath on the exact same tick when the Pyrelord lights the fire and moves simultaneously.

I did a short 12 min test with this and made lots of mistakes and pyrelord didnt want to stand north/south but I still got 1480 logs per hour which is almost max of backwards ge. However its more xp per log so I was getting more xp per hour even with mistakes.

Taking 575k/hr, doubled that's 1150k, about 2.6 hours to empty the horn, if you take 4 hours to fill, the question is whether you can make money for the additional mage logs in 1.4 hours. You need about 4k logs?

No, horn and pyrelord do not seem to stack. But obviously horn still works for the log you are lighting yourself so it would increase xp but not double it.

Well its always going to be slower xp rate it just depends if you value your time lower enough.

I'm confused as to what your on about - maybe I'm just tired.

the time needed to fil the horn means that your overall xp per hour is lower than if you didnt use the horn, much like sc tools. But it is cheaper to use the horn so if you count time saved making money the xp rate could be lower.

Or if you're like me and think playing BA is more fun then lighting thousands of logs on fire. I don't give a crap if it will take longer, I use the horn because BA >>>> regular FM for me in terms on fun.

I'll try this method out next time I fill up my horn. Thanks.

It's a lot easier then that for an idiot to sound smart on the internet.

That's exactly what you're doing right now... just saying.

After using this method for a bit, I realise the main drawbacks of this.

Other players.

Running all over your familiar.

And parking their stupid tortoises right over it too.

Most annoying thing in the world.

You could do it in conjunction with the house portal method then. No players around to get in the way.
