Box Staking

So I've become interested in maxed box staking. I'm wondering if there is a strategy that actually provides a sustainable source of income in the long term.

I'm assuming that each attack style is equal (Accurate, Aggressive or Defensive). Please correct me if I'm wrong, as this is crucial.

Because of this, I'm assuming that the chance of winning each fight is 50%.

Currently I've been using the martingale system, where you double up your stake for each consecutive loss. I've had reasonable success, which is typical for this system. However, in the long term the chance of losing everything is 100%. See the wiki article for an explanation of why: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martingale_(betting_system).

High profile stakers must have some other tricks up their sleeve that tip the odds in their favour. What could that be?

So is there any betting strategy that works long term?

Actually, the attack styles aren't equal. Each attack styles offers an invisible +3 bonus to the respective style. The only time this is really noticeable is on brand new accounts but it would affect staking somehow.

Squab unleashes Megiddo! Completed all quests and hard diaries. 75+ Skiller. (At one point.) 2000+ total. 99 Magic.

Buying spins make you a bad person...don't do it. It's like buying nukes for North Korea.

Well if it bothers you that the game is more fun now, then you can go cry in a corner. :shame:

your article was the equivalent of a circumcized porcupine

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

Well I don't necessarily think the martingale system is bad but you have to set a LIMIT. Like if you start staking at 500k, then go to 1M then 2M, then stop at 4M or 8M depending on how much money you have. If you have already lost 4 or 5 in a row then cut your losses. Do NOT stake 32M just to make 500k.

Interesting, so when I'm in accurate mode my attack is invisibly 102/99 and so on? I wonder which holds the greatest advantage in the long run- maybe it's a rock paper scissors scenario. All we can do is speculate unless anyone knows the algorithm that calculates the chance of a hit, and the amount of damage.

EDIT: I just had someone sneakily enable the shield spot as I wasn't paying complete attention. Is deception the secret?

No, deception is not the secret. While it can give you an advantage, people won't want to stake you if you rule-switch. To prevent rule switchers, spam click the "previous options" button until your opponent has accepted.

As for attack styles, use accurate when you are attacking, use defensive when your opponent is attacking (You switch to accurate before you hit, then switch to defensive before your opopnent hits. After your opponent's damage has landed, switch back to accurate, once you hit switch back to defensive, etc.)

You really want to start off small and develop a technique that ensures you always walk away with money. I follow Wicked's 1m>3m>7m>15m>31m>65m process.

It's mainly about experience and knowing when to start staking small again because you don't want to loose a large stake and not have any money left to win it back.

Hi if you're reading this you are amazing and I love you.

Staking is, just like war, a less-than-zero profit game. Pking almost always is except that you get bone drops.

You expend time and resources to create nothing, unlike you would in bosshunting or farming or such. Even merchanting creates something (a fluid market, which means it's easier to buy and sell).

Of course if you're staking anyone who is only slightly less than maxed, you have a higher than 50% chance to win if you are maxed. This means your expected profit is highest if you stake your entire bank.

This is garbage. Stake big, stake small it doesn't matter. Picking flax is better income than staking (unless you have a gimmick)

You made 525M in three days of picking flax? Cause that's what I made staking.

I think you mean picking flax would be more reliable income because it isn't based on luck. I wouldn't call it better though, because there's always the possibility of getting lucky while staking like I did.

I'd say pkings even worse, it drains supplies that no one gets. Like the food, the potions, the runes, range ammo.

At least boxing doesn't really take any food or potions. :P

There is just as much chance that you would have lost that much. You didn't lose 525m but someone else did.

A money pouch would be cool. So would a remote price checker. But honestly I'm thinking an insta-Jcoins-market. LOW ON PRAYER AND DONT LIKE XP WASTE?! BUY AN ULTRA PRAYER RESTORE POTION INSTANTLY FOR JUST 75 CENTS! STAY AT BANDOS ALL DAY/AS LONG YOU HAVE MONEY!

The only way to guarantee profit would be to force the probability in your favor. No system of changing the bet is going to change the odds of the game, which are the mechanics that control the profitability of it.

As one said, taking part in 50/50 stakes(which is what the majority of the population reccomends) is not a good way to make money. It's a good way to gamble, as you're given a fair chance.

My recommendation, if you wish to gamble, is to set aside a basic amount of cash, and increase your earnings linearly (not exponentially) when you win. This way, you are paid off on a string of goodluck, as opposed to getting dominated by a string of bad luck.

You simply cannot win in the long term unless you are somehow tipping the odds in your favour.

In maxed account boxing, you can't do that.

Your expected profit is 0, however, this really only applies with an infinite number of trials. Typically, you'll get cleaned. Since getting cleaned means you're out of cash, you can't keep staking to make it back.

There's really not much reason to do it if you're expecting to use it as a source of income. Acknowledge that you are simply gambling, and I'd recommend leaving if you ever win big

As for the doubling your stake each time system: You have a good chance of making a small profit.

You have a small chance of getting totally cleaned and losing everything to the point where you don't have enough cash to double anymore.
