Drop rate can vary as much as it wants from each monster since dragon pickaxe is listed as very rare. The trick - at least for me - was to use berserk as much as possible and not care about the souls at all. Would've been five but I lost connection during the last one :( My connection has been a bit unstable for the last few days, so I haven't gone to GWD since I got the champion's scroll.
