Ok so i just started the zmi rc and have a few questions

1) My bank items are 258/438 what are really cheap junk items that i can fill it with

2) Is using essence pouches good idea for this?

3) Is it just faster emptying inventory then taking out 20 runes and 27 ess than filling pouches and the 20 runes

4) should i just keep the runes i make in my inventory and just worry about the essence?

Gnome shops, canafis shops and range guild shops net you about 100 cheap junk itesms to be starting with

yes use ALL pouches you can; some say drop small once u got giant but some studies have shown bank time saved by ditched small doesnt make up for the better xp using it

I don't quite follow what ur asking on third. Bank invent with full bank = pouches stay out (and fire runes if u decided to do os) withdraw ess and fill pouches from bank screen run it.

No,no,no you bank the runes unless you wanna make like 10 ess per run

Afros(from the party room), 1-4 doses of potions, bronze, iron, steel weapons and armours.

2) Is using essence pouches good idea for this?

yes

3) Is it just faster emptying inventory then taking out 20 runes and 27 ess than filling pouches and the 20 runes

A bit unsure what you mean here. I use all four pouches and a familar. Keep whatever rune you use for payment in your inventory

4) should i just keep the runes i make in my inventory and just worry about the essence?

No. You should have a placeholder for each rune(except the one your using as payment), click deposit all and then withdraw ess to add to your pouches. You'll almost always make enough runes to teleport back.

Try watching a video on efficient Zmi runecrafting, it's pretty helpful.

Always have 4 pouches + air runes to pay with (air runes are crafted a lot less at higher runecrafting levels and you need them to repair your pouches with NPC Contact) in your inventory. Have an earth rune-supplying staff equipped. Wear low-weight (0 kg or less) magic defence gear with your best Ardougne cloak. You will almost always craft enough law and astral runes to teleport to Ourania.

In your bank you should have at least one of each rune besides air runes, of which there should be none. It should also be full. You should bank at Eniola

When banking, click deposit-all, withdraw 22 essence, fill giant + large pouch, withdraw another 22, fill medium + small, withdraw 10 more (it'll give you a message you don't have enough space). You can also use withdraw-all instead of 22 of course.

Good things to fill up your bank with: strange rocks (can be collapsed into a strange rock bag, fills anywhere from 1 to 31 spaces), your POH bookcase (30ish books depending on quest you've done), your costume room (can be another 30 spaces, more if you have many skillcapes stored), you can keep all your potions in 1, 2, 3 and 4 doses (makes depositing potions after slayer easier too, all pots go to one place).

air runes issue is avoided if you use the repair pouch spell which is faster and lasts longer and even at higher levels you're pretty much 100% gonna get the runes for it.

It's not worth getting the pouch repair spell just for 99 runecrafting though, only for getting the spells for their own sake/comp cape.

It really really is worth getting it just for 99 rc.

It makes pouches last ~4 times as long and is a lot quicker to cast which makes 99 rc substantial faster as it adds up over time.

It takes 7 hours or so (bit more) to get the spell, which is about 3-4% of the time to 99 runecrafting by ZMI (no effigies, pengs, randoms, tears, Troll Invasion or xp boosts in any form). That spell saves you from casting NPC contact, say 20 seconds once every 10 runs? Meaning you need to do some 12600 runs to break even (7 hours of getting the spell * 3600 seconds in an hour / 2 seconds saved per run). That's about 99 runecrafting starting at 75. And that's just break-even. If you were to use, say, troll invasion + penguin points + random event lamps on runecrafting, that would get you some 250k runecrafting xp every month, and you would have to go that much xp beyond 99 to break even.

Do you not use a familiar? I generally fill giant and large, then small, med, and lurker, then rebank. It's also slightly easier to fill small and med this way, as you can close bank and left click them.

I usually fill bank with poh books.

Lol, Enaid is 100% right - but all in all, livid farm is just good to unlock.

It's nice if you do it asap - so you can use the spells sooner rather then later.

It's a little bit of a bore - but you get some decent farm exp (along with tons of other random exp)

Also, it said something in the August notes that they would come out with RC robes from GOP that would increase RC exp.

It might be worth doing livid and hoping that this comes out before you start RC-ing.

It's just a tedious affair and I would absolutely try to make it bareable in any way possibe. (Also stock yourself up on tons of tv shows/movies to watch)

Ok so i just started the zmi rc and have a few questions

1) My bank items are 258/438 what are really cheap junk items that i can fill it with

Quest items from desert treasure, afros, you can decant potions into 1,2,3, and 4 doses, bronze items, treasure trail items

2) Is using essence pouches good idea for this?

You can fill pouches within a bank, so it is a good idea to fill pouches

3) Is it just faster emptying inventory then taking out 20 runes and 27 ess than filling pouches and the 20 runes

filling your bank can make banking easier by using the deposite all button, then you can prompty fill your ess pouches and fill your inventory for better xp/hr

4) should i just keep the runes i make in my inventory and just worry about the essence?

banking the runes would be a much better idea so you can achieve greater xp/hr rates

familar blows, the extra bank cycle adds soo much time to the run it comes out worse overall.

They used to be ok when you had to un-bank to fill pouches anyway but now its all done in the bank familiars just slow this method down big time.

I highly recommend not simply throwing junk into your bank. Invest in collapseable items as well, since they are MUCH more valuble.

For example, take the Full Slayer Helmet. Instantly, you can break it down into 7 distinct items, increasing your bank item count by 6. However, if you were to need extra space temporarily, you could compress the items back into 1. Then, at your leisure, you could bring the count back up. The Cramulet is also useful, as is the Strange Rock Bag (for Shattered Heart, although this requires you not to turn in the rocks for XP), Bolt Bag, Gem Bag (from dungeoneering), and to a lesser extent, Grand Exchange Set Boxes (since you must be at the GE to collapse/compress them, they are less convienent). Imo, at minimum invest in the Cramulet/FSH if your quests allow. That's something like 9 or 10 bank spaces you can remove temporarily whenever you want.

This is great if you decide to take a break from RC and need the space.

They aren't worth using. They result in worse xp/hr

All the numbers I seen produced post-bank update have shown a clear margin of familiarless being faster xp

Well that depends on how much time you use filling and emptying it. Another 7 essence per run means you can take 60 instead of 53. If 53 essence takes you 53 seconds to craft/bank, you can lose up to 7 seconds on the familiar for it to be worth it. I believe it's possible to fill up your familiar faster than that, and I do think you can even lose slightly more time as a run is slower than 53 seconds.

Like I said all numbers I've seen shown it to be slower xp/hr to use a familiar now, cause it adds to much extra interface time in exiting bank open familiar fill familiar open bank pay again with draw ess and then withdrawing at the other end.

I never am good for bookmarking studies but this guide has some rough numbers that show familiar resulting in less xp:

That guide uses xp rates some 20% below the rates at higher levels, as well as using 10 minute tests to show that you get a whopping 11 xp less in those 10 minutes, as well as using a very low agility level as baseline (which may explain the low rates) because you can see how a terrorbird adds 5% to your xp rates. In short, not conclusive at all.

ya i got my bank filled with all the suggestions from you guys so thanks.

I just got from 51 rc to 57 rc using the zmi altar, but i had to keep repairing my large rune ess pouch every level or so.

Is doing the lunar spell book quest worth it for the contact npc spell?? my magic level is only 66 almost 67

i dont mind teleporting to the abyss, and repairing, just not sure how much i will be doing it once i get 75 rc for the giant pouch.

Also what happens if i use a damaged pouch: like my large pouch became damage and held only 7 ess because i was so close to level i still used it and did not repair. Will it keep going down by 2?? or just go poof

Teleporting to the abyss

NO.

NEVER DO THAT.

If you'r not gonna unlock pouch repair spell you use npc contact to talk to the dark mage,
