Strange rocks

The key is to maximise your chances/minute. It doesn't matter how high level the method is.

For example: big net fishing is the best way to get a fishing rock, because you get about 10 chances in as many seconds (estimate). On the other hand, shark fishing would be a rubbish method because you don't actually pick up a shark nearly as often.

I don't precisely know much of the exact methods, but that's the golden rule: most chances/minute.

Also don't forget to check if your method supports rocks. Some of them don't, e.g. butterfly barehanded catching.

Cheap methods are easier to do as you won't be worried about running out of supplies.

I'm not an efficienado.

What's the quickest way to get rocks from each skill? If there is a quickest way, that is.

Hi

From my experience the simple answer is: there is no quick way of getting the rocks !

However, again from my experience, there are some of the skills where it seemingly is easier to get the rocks than others.

The fastest rocks for me has aways been:

- Mining

- Fishing with a big net

The rest are totally random - e.i. sometimes I get them just as fast, but on rare occasions they simply refuse to show up !

anyway, that's what I can add to this subject - I hope you can use it for something.

a few off the top of my head: (key is to maximise the number of chance as above)

Herblore: Cleaning herbs (with rocks bag or a freee space in inventory)

Smithing: making any 1bar items (bolts/arrowheads/etc) or supersmelting gold with gloves

Crafting: 1-hide things tend to be horrific xp/gp, I tend to do either gold braclets or glassblowing

Farming: Farm all the patches you can really, if you do regular herb runs you'd get this easily over the week

Agility: Just do your best course, preferably one thats fairly fast to complete (one chance per lap for a rock)

Hunter: Chinchompas/Jadinkos/Falconry depending on your hunter level or desire for xp

Woodcutting: Something fast, like willows/teaks

Firemaking: Just line firemake, not sure if the new pyrelord method gives strange rocks or not

Cooking: Any old cooking will do

Fletching: Cutting bows gives rocks but not stringing them gives rocks iirc

Mining: a fairly fast one, anything that mines fast is good so iron/granite/conc coal

Fishing: Usually happens in a matter of seconds regardless of method

Construction: Obviously expensive to get these rocks, look for a balance of reasonable cost and fast items (like a 4-plank thing rather than 10) though oak doors get them fairly fast

Runecrafting: You get one chance per essense so these are fast, do a close altar for a lap such as ZMI/Air/Astral

Theif: If you still want court cases, knights of ardy are great for rocks and also court cases. Ifnot, master farmers.

Obviously you want to balance these on how much you value gaining more xp in the skill. If say you still wanted woodcutting xp, you'd go for something like

teaks or arctic pines rather than willows.

I have a correction to make for Cooking rocks. You can only get them from cooking fish. Anything else won't work.

Octarine has a good list, pretty much what I do. I'd recommend getting rocks while training, for example do a 1-hour (lava titan timer) trip to congold to get some 70k xp every time you get strange rocks - you'll be 90 mining by the time you finish the statue.

This.

Unlike Octarine said, I find construction rather hellish (took me over 4k oak planks to get my last two - and it's been around that week for the past two weeks)

For most tasks, you can just find the rocks by training normally.

Thieving is one of the exceptions (court cases are a good way to do it but so is thieving from master farmers)

-You barely fail and the seeds are pretty good to turn into MA (some of them end up being like 1 gp for like 18 credit or something).

-It's obviously not an idea way to get MA credit but if you really hate MA and you can't be bothered to do more then a few games every day, this method might work.

I have a few question about court cases

-Is completing them good for anything? (Completionist cape? or something?)

-If you thieve from the knight of ardounge - will you get any court case in particular or is it totally random?

You get random cases. The mime case is needed to get the faint emote, and sufficient court cases will get you a barrister's wig and court top or something, plus that all cases are a trimmed completionist cape requirement.

My best tip for hunter is to get a bonecrusher and do falconry. Half the items to drop compared to without bonecrusher, fast "catches" and at least last time i checked, no bots to squabble with for chins.

Some additions the the otherwise gresa list:

Farming: farm ALL patches. Allotments gives a lot of products, and every product you harvest gives a chance for a rock -> maximising opportunities.

Carfting: when I got the rocks for the statue, I crafted gold amulets because you actually profit, or can use them for string jewely. XP for getting the rocks is ususally crappy anyway, as stated before.

RC: I just used the abyss, got to the closest portal available and crafted the runes there.

Remember to alternate skills. I ususally combine 2 skills connected, for instance first smelt gold for smithing, then craft the bars for carfting. It gives the best chance for getting rocks. Getting 2 rocks of the same skill consecutively takes longer.

For a little bit of extra xp, remember to use urns (cooking, fishing, mining, and smithing if you actually smith and not smelt) at the cost of only 1 inventory space.

Not that allotments are bad or anything, but jesus - the exp the give are horrible (not to mention the time)

The beauty of farming is - if you do enough runs with juju's, you should be able to get your strange rocks every week (it takes me at most two days to get them)

Gold bracelets are slightly better exp - but that's a pretty great way to get some cheap crafting exp. To be even faster, bring some nats, and a bracelet mound - superheat/smelt your ores and craft them all in one go.

Sure, allotments are quite bad xp (watermelons being quite decent) but a week of herb farming should provide enough for both farm rocks as well as herblore rocks when cleaning the herbs. If you want to get them FAST, do the allotments as well. I used tomatoes because the seeds are cheap, and the trade off is bad xp vs quite bad xp. If you have the tmie (say 1 week), herb runs should be enough.

Um, there are no smithing urns. Just smelting. >_>

:wall::oops: :wall: you are right. :wall::oops: :wall:

But they don't work when you smelt gold, so use them if you smelt something else.

Tip for robbing the master farmers, if you don't want to bother with dropping seeds, just fill your inventory except for one space with bars or something and put the rock bag in the last spot.

Then just spam click the farmer until a rock pops, and laugh at the seeds littering the floor from other people.
