England Riots

It's kicking off near me in Manchester. Miss Selfridges is being burnt down, the UGG boots shop has had it's doors smashed and there's quite a few hooded "people" on Picadilly gardens and on Market street.

The only real reason I can think of that this would happen is that youths are just thinking "Well, everywhere else got a riot, why shouldn't we?"

Nothing around here yet. Which is enough proof if you still need it that there is no political considerations in this at all - one would think the constituency of the home secretary would be the #1 target were there to be political motivation involved...

(though the rioters probably don't even know what a constituency or a home secretary is)

Foot Asylum, Swarovski and lush have all had heir windows smashed. Barclays and HSBC all have armed guards inside so don't think the rioters fancy it.

Is Manchester the furthest north the rioting has spread, do we know?

I also saw a bit this morning on some of the organised street gangs in London bragging about what they've been up to (burning patrol cars/looting/robbery etc) which in turn prompted rival gangs to "up their game" by burning more police vehicles and looting more shops. I'd imagine this might be part of the reason why gangs of youths further north started rioting, not to be outdone. It sounds [bleep]ing stupid but it's the exact same here with teams of neds and scumbags going [bleep]-for-tat, fighting and stabbing people over "territory". If your rival does something, you do the same but in a more impressive fashion.

Heck, I'll try to find the article. It puts it a lot more eloquently.

It isn't in the castle, It isn't in the mist, It's a calling of the waters, As they break to show, The new Black Death, With reactors aglow, Do you think your security, Can keep you in purity, You will not shake us off above or below

Liverpool had last night, I think that's just slightly further north. It'll be Cumbria and Kendal next :ohnoes:

Rolex, Mcdonalds and Tesco metro are also now victims. It's all in/around Market Street and St Annes Square in Manchester.

I heard Leeds had it a bit last night too and that's further north of either.

Chilling in Ealing, it was the most scariest thing; knowing that our Nando's may not be there the next morning. Allow Greggs.

But yeah, rioters smashed all the windows of my favourite Restaurant:

It's odd with McDonalds, they're breaking into the places they work.

Remember kids, video games make people violent, weed kills you, and when you get pregnant, you die.

Why are people just breaking stuff at random...? I read the OP, but I don't recall seeing a reason as to what the rioters expect to get by breaking windows of small businesses.

Oh please, it's a tiny column from a newspaper (well, an image of a 'newspaper' anyway) that I don't even recognise. No one's seriously blamed video games for this.

Trust OT to draw a tangent about video games or religion.

Anyone saying these riots are going on as a protest or as a way of fighting against the government are talking RUBBISH.

These riots are nothing more than thug youths out rioting for fun and profit. Smashing windows and stealing TVs. The FIRST riot which came after a peaceful protest over the death of a man shot by police stemmed from having a real purpose but right now there's nothing but mindless vandalism going on. I really hope the police throw the book at everyone arrested, this is no way to behave.

Quoted for absolute truth. There may be roots in the working class people (who make up the majority of rioters, it would seem) having little money, but that's just the way life is.

It's all good, I've seen that there are riots, but I haven't seen why. Anyone care to tell me?

Because people want free stuff.

The problem at the moment is that mass public opinion actually seems to oppose the riots. If they grow much larger, I could see them reaching a tipping point where riots against the riots start.

It can and is happening. I've seen reports of 60-70 people going round and beating up the rioters. It can't be good, but it's the police's lack of action unfortunately.

See this video

There is a beacon of hope - there is now a NDL - Nando's defence league. Sucks that they got the one near me :/ Also I'm out of the country, so kinda hoping they leave my house the hell alone.

RIP TET

These people rioting are thuggish, moronic and disgusting. Those who are tying to make a political thing out of it are wasting their time; it's like trying to look for unicorns in a bomb shelter (not gonna happen). These cretins are not protesting, they are looting, burning and attacking civilians. Firemen trying to save civilians from a burning building have been attacked. These people have no principles, no remorse. They don't care who they harm so long as they're satiating their lust for anarchy and their selfish desire for possessions and chaos.

If they were angry at unemployment, they'd stop burning down and looting small businesses. If they were angry at their socio-economic position, they wouldn't be engaging in criminality - I've not heard of many people able to support their family and improve their lot from prison. These animals are the worst of society, not because of their societal status, but because of how they conduct themselves.

Cameron's being far, far too soft. A strong Prime Minister would have no regrets in bringing out the tear gas, rubber bullets and water cannons needed to deter these halfwits from their criminal behaviour. I wish I could say there was a reason, let alone excuse, for their actions. But there isn't one, and as such, they must be punished severely.

Annoyingly the scum are all of my generation, (eg 19 - 25 region) so once again my generation will get tarred with the same brush and be looked at as a "problem"

Have people not seen what TRUE BRITISH sprit is all about?

Just because a few non real british people have been looting and rioting, does not mean Britain is a bad place.

True sprit is those who in the thousands was waiting for the all clear from forensics to clean the streets, just search online for Riot cleaners, there is an army in london, an amy of cleaners to get our city, our country back up and running.

Its a small % of those who are classed as the lower class people - Yes its mostly blacks - but there are people lower than them and they have not rioted. The Chinese, and other south east Asian people...

London is the only real "world city" it has nation areas all over, an USA corner - where people from america live, some 20,000 people, many china towns, many turks areas etc. However its areas where "blacks" are which is getting rioted, why? As I read somewhere, they are so young, most don't drive, so its an area thing, they are looting on their doorsteps.

If you are planning to riot in london, or any other city in the UK, let me tell you this, you will get court, I promise you that why? CCTV, Britain is the CCTV capital of the world they can follow you and track you home. How do you think they knew there the 7/7 bombers lived? Its only a matter of time, Also if you looted something electrical, how stupid did you have to be? EVERYTHING has a serial number from TV's to laptops the second they are turned on, they can track you. They know if you have a TV in your house with no licence. All TV's are wireless in an effect and are traceable. They have already traced a hand full and arrested people from this.

There was an store in london that got burned down, stood for 150 years, they got the man for it by tracking CCTV cameras.

I say don't be idiots, if you have been involved come clean now, your punishments wont be too harsh compared to the man hours spend tracking you down. They have tracked some 100 people today alone, if you know someone who has looted, you can be arrested and charged, your best bet is to tell the police.

If your like, thats all good, but I can't get a job, you can get a job if your well enough.

Here is what you do.

Put your CV's to every company employing, there are only 20 people going for each job at the moment, better than the 80 it was before. After 20+ jobs interviews with no job, you say give me a chance, I will show you how much I will work for a chance, I will work for nothing, - Yes nothing, the company then has nothing to loose, you don't pull your weight, no job - you want that job, you pull your weight and more prove your weight in gold, then you will get that job you need to pay bills, get a better place etc.

I am not racist, I am Country proud, but these rioters are making us look bad.

He has the nerve to compare these riots to the plights in the middle east riots? What an idiot. She should have just told him to bugger off at that point.
