Hey, I have been training dungeoneering for some time now and I am currently at level 60, Pushing slowly to 80 for chaotic maul or rapier, Just need some advice on how to train my account.

 

Current stats/Goals

 

65/80 attack

54/70+ strength

1/20/30 defense

33/52 prayer

10/70 range

73/99 mage

 

Please don't recommend getting turmoils because I cant afford it as of now, looking at 20 def or 30 def build with chaotic maul, with around 70 strength I will still be able to hit 430's max. My combat level will be around 81-87 and I'll be fighting alot of zerks and tanks, so remaining 1 defense is pretty stupid.

Go with the rapier. Maul is nice, but it's overwhelming accuracy is near useless on lower defenses.

 

1 def with a rapier is amazing. Even against zerkers and tanks, most of the ones you'll be facing aren't really developed yet. With 80 attack and a rapier, you would rip though their defense like butter(Zerkers moreso then tanks). I would suggest getting at least 85 - 90 strength first though.

 

Another reason why i suggest 1 def is that it leaves your account open for development. 95 prayer gets cheaper and easier to get every day due to overpowered gambling(Dicing, staking, ect) and bots crashing the bone/ash market.

 

But if you decide to get higher defense, quest it! You'll regret it if you get 20 or 30 defense just by training it, and suddenly come into a wad of cash and want to get turmoil or something. For such a reason, you would have to leave out some quests if you want to stay a certain defense level and still get turmoil. Whilst if you quested your defense now, you can have all of it at 45 defense, or most of it at 40 defense.

 

And mildly unrelated advice, KEEP YOUR PRAYER UP WHILE PKING. I've seen countless pures who have 52 or lower prayer get their chaotics smited. Drink a dose of prayer potion as soon as you can without wasting any. And if you have to chose between shark-brewing and shark-restoring at low prayer and LP, choose the restore. Better to die and lose ~100k in gear then die and lose your chaotic.

Thanks for the advice, I'm still not sure on keeping 1 defense and I really like the maul, I'm looking at staying as low as possible with a chaotic so I'm only aiming on 70-80 strength for now, I dont want to get 40 defense because of the quests such as barrow gloves and vengeance I already have done these on numerous other accounts and I really cant be bothered doing them again. I only really wanted 20 def-30 defense because it opens more options of equipment I can use, And I have had many 1 def pures and kind of tired of it. Just experimenting with this account for now, If it works I'll be happy if its dose not I always have other accounts to fall back on.

Lower level PKing on a prossy pure(AKA Addy daddy, "true" turmoil pure, ect) could actually be interesting. However i would suggest at least getting the defense experience from defender of varrock and what lies below will save you a world of regret if you ever want to max out with turmoil(Which you should, eventually). So take out a day and get the requirements for the quest. Because lets face it, with 80 attack, 99 strength, 30 defense, and 52ish prayer you'll get torn to pieces by non-maxed turmoil pures(Whom would still have 95 prayer). Trust me, you will face them at that level. Because i myself was at that combat level without turmoil and couldn't get many fights against other pures without turmoil.

 

A "corrupt" pure(20 defense) is completely open to question, as i myself have never experimented with the idea of one. Advantages i know of are rune gloves, initiate, dagon'hai, and of course corrupt equipment if you can afford it. Quests that you should do for this build are nature's spirit for rune gloves and what lies below for dagon'hai.

30 def pking w/o turm is pretty worthless. not questing that def is even worse.
