14-Sept-2011 Ritual of the Mahjarrat

I am not saying that I am awesome or even that I am disappointed but the fights at the end of the quest were ridiculously easy.

I went in for a test run because I had been hearing about how difficult it was (and even saw several graves at the start). During my test run I had 1 prayer potion, an extreme set (didn't use), 10 unicorn scrolls (used 2), and the rest sharks (used 2). I was wearing full prossy, a glory for teleport, an enhanced Excalibur, and barrows gloves, dragon boots. With this step up I raped every step of the way. I imagine that if I were dumb enough to get hit by the 'special' of Luciens it may have been harder but even then the 2 sharks I used were because of that.

I never banked, I never got hit and never used a guide (as there isn't one yet... may write one :P) . I am not even maxed... so to me the bosses were underwhelming.

Otherwise it was an amazing quest and I cannot wait to see what the 'future' holds.

[spoiler=Spoiler]So about Bob the cat...

After the quest I talked to him (even though the notes said that it needed to be done in not cat form) and it was pretty much a waste of time.

Bolts/Arrows stats please?

Oh and I noticed this on rs wiki

Upon the release of this quest there was a glitch where you could use this spell to attack anyone, anywhere. They would have a gravestone outside of wilderness, but if it was in wilderness you would still see their items as a drop. Inside the wilderness it was the same, you could attack anybody regardless of combat level, and multiple players could attack one player even within non-multi zone.

New barrows armor is insane

It has magic damage boost and crazy prayer bonus making it a force to reckon with (also makes it a godly barrows setup):-o

Ya it made for a hella funny, and equally [bleep]ed up video. Was this posters first post, I wonder if he made the video / did the glitch and created an account to post on here to show it. Lol.

all i can say is lol jameflex fail. This should really be in rs media or have its own topic now that bugs/glitches is merged with GD.

If you noticed, the last guy a fury and... d square? O_o

any word on what works for bane bolts other then dragon?

i've tried ashes, wip and minion for abby bolts but nothing works. I'm gonna be ticked if i need to go hunt for another head. the spells also says that "you need to cast the spell on the item or location that you wish to tune the ore to" so i'm gonna try random casting in rc abbys and fairy ring abbys see if anything happens.

edit- thats a no on abby charms and the rc abbys.

no to fairy ring abbys either.

edit2- Nope you definatly need an abby head or mounted head for bolts. tried slayer tower and everything els i could think of related to abby demons. Even tried using abysall familiars and scrolls.

Hope they fix it to at least include abby whip and minion.

Me behave? Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home from a party after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with seven men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies who always had the munchies. The fault is not mine! if you had this childhood and loved it put this in your signature!

You can use a trophy from a friends house if you do not have one mounted.

Wow this is really stupid, jagex says "massive" xp rewards. Yet they fail to realize it's not that much. Can't they remember the past - where they didn't hype up everything?

Lol you want an 1m xp reward? I think those big xp rewards are big enough.

You have 11m xp, I have over 275m. For you, 1m xp is a lot. For me, not so much. Its all in perspective.

I'll wait for a guide. Homework then a game of LoL before class. Sounds epic though!

Yeah but the quest doesn't require you to have 200m+ xp does it? So it is a lot for the quest reqs.

Totally illogical attempt at an argument. Quest rewards are not tied directly to what is needed for the quest. And half a million xp is around 2-3 hours of skilling, if that.

There is no discussion whatsoever about roberts necklace, does anyone know what to do with it? - Or even the slightest idea?

Weird you receive so many "destroyable items", which serve no use in the quest at all.

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

+1 to that, you can give bob his collar back though.

Also, what is up with the focus near the end of the quest? That seemed to have no relevance to anything, though I did write it in my notes for future reference.

Lol, you are now saying that it doesn't matter if it is a GM quest or not for the rewards. So a novice quest could get 500k xp. Also try to get 500k runecrafting xp in 3 hours, maybe it would work with effigies but only if you are maxed.

Stonewalls point in baby steps:

1m xp may not be alot to you as you have 275m total xp; but the quest DOES NOT require you to be anywhere near that high level wise.

The reward IS massive if you are just on the requirement levels or a little over; you can't judge it against your current place.

Its the same way when a new low end quest comes out you can't expect it to be give you millions of xp just cause you happen to have 200m+ total xp; the rewards are appropriate to the content level.

What I did was pray mage (keep it at that) protect and piety (not necessary, just wanted to speed it up), and had dragon plate and skirt on, and used zammy spear. Crush seemed to be doing regular damage to them, they are ice demons after all... just avoid the skulls and continue hitting. No need to hide anywhere, as long as you can see the skulls coming (I switched demon when skull was coming, very easy).

Hmm, after the quest...

[spoiler=Odd] first I 'kill' Arrav, but hey, why is his heart still in the jar in the rocks <_<

[hide]Because he never takes it back literally; just by bringing him close enough to it you break Zemergouls spell over him allowing him to follow his own free will and thus aid you in the battle; equally as the spell has been severed he deteriorates (essentially being a zombie and all) until he crumbles into dust and is finally free from being trapped half-alive.[/hide]

By far the best quest I've done, I kinda feel bad for Jhallan but I kind of expected him to be the next appart from lucien dying in one way or another. I'm still unclear about what was Azzanadra's plan with the beacons, was it merely some sort of attack or he actually tried to bring back Zaros? Guess we won't know for a while since that part was interrumpted by the dragonkin, was waiting more from lucien against them but guess he had it coming, kind of ironic how he died by the same weapon that made other a god lol.

I'm sure that it was the beacons actually that continually boosted our power to 195 (if you're maxed melees) throughout the time you are on the plateau... Unless of course that is the stone of Jas power; but I wouldn't think that, based on the way it worked in WGS. And yeahs it's probably just some sort of attack.

Not sure if anyone's answered this yet -- still catching up on the thread:

When talking to Azzanadra earlier in the quest, he asks you to take the beacons and place them around the ritual site in order that he can channel the power of Zaros -- that's why, when Azzanandra attacks Lucien near the end with "the power of Zaros", Lucien takes those "big hits" ...

[hide]Yeah Zaros beacons didn't aid us it was simply:

Zaros presence empowers his followers.

Zamorak and all other gods can be felt all over the world (cept armadyl since he sodded off) giving followers strength everywhere.

Zaros fade out banishment thing severed him from the world.

At the temple where Azzandra made the portal he feels Zaros presence again and thus is empowered, but the portal is weak so the effects only reach the temple.

Azzandra made the beacons to absorb power in the temple and radiate it back out wherever they were placed; thus giving him Zaros' power to use agaisnt Lucien as seen in the cutscene.

Our boosted stats can't be attributed to this as we don't get boosted stats in the temple, so it doesn't logically follow that the beacons give us power. A far more logical route is that we once again touched the stone of jas and thus got a booster. This is further backed up by the fact if you die, tele out or use brews etc your stats do not raise again when you return to the area. Returning to the area (even if you tele out of Khazard fight) skips 1 thing: you touching the stone. Therefore stone gave us booster.[/hide]

All in all it was a great quest. Nowhere near as long as I thought it would be, and the story is a little, well, "sketchy" in parts not that THAT is a bad thing. There's a LOT of loose ends flailing around in all directions which opens several doors for more story-lines and more character development, which I personally, found to be great news. Obviously, there's a lot more to be heard from all the "people" in this quest, and I intend to follow up and talk to a few of them

The "Epic Battle" wasn't all that difficult not for me anyways. In fact, I had more problems in the earlier part of the quest making my way across Mos than in any other part of the quest. Again, that's not a criticism. I think the main difference for me was the absolute lack of noticeable "lag" for this battle. Not sure why but, even on high detail and resizable screen, my circa 2007 computer ran through the battle without a single lag unlike during the Branches of Darkmeyer final battle.
