Your Biggest Ingame Regret?

Throughout our scape lives, we've often went to a fork in the road with how to do things and most players usually went on the better path, whether or not they intended it. Unfortunately, there is that bad investment, slip of the tongue that caused a chain reaction of misunderstandings, or use of time that essentially would set us back in either the short or long term.

 

Basically, what was your biggest regret, in terms of decisions, in your Runescape life? I'm slightly curious if anyone shares the same kind of experience or has one unique to them.

 

Personally, my biggest regret was last year. I decided to spend 60m on advancing from 96 to 99 prayer, even though I was 138 combat already (125+13). Needless to say, I almost never wear the Prayer cape, the price of dragon bones has halved since then, and there wasn't much difference in benefit. I know nothing can be done (aside from make the money back), but I feel I could've invested my money more wisely. My second biggest regret was to stop dungeoneering since I cannot catch up easily with 148 being hard to form *decent* teams.

 

Anyways, what did you think was your worst mishap with the fork in the road?

Oh boy, where to start.

 

Well, the obvious one is probably buying and selling a santa hat. Bought the santa at 500k when people were just starting to realise that it's going to be worth something one day (I bought it because it was pretty, and i was young, i had no intention on 'merching') and then sold it a few months later for 2m thinking i was some sort of financial wizard... Another few months later, it was worth 4m. The current price is 192m.

 

I regret being f2p for so damn long. I only turned members in 2007, after playing since 03, and discovered that it was many 100 times better for pretty much anything.

 

I regret ever not using potions or prayers when training until about 2009. I had some notion in my head that spending 2,000gp on a super strength potion was going to blow my bank, even though the increase in kills not only made the difference plus more, it also resulted in much higher xp.

 

I regret making so many damn accounts and investing so much time into them. I literally have over 20 accounts, at least 6 of which have been members at one point (Often at the same time) and a lot of them aren't even special. (E.G. I have two 60 attack pures, one with 92 strength, one with 80 strength. I have no idea why i made the second one.)

 

I regret not doing bandos trios when i was 110-120 combat, it would have been five times as much profit as whatever else i was doing back then, letting me afford expensive stuff, making me rich today. But no, 'oh i'll get one hit there unless i'm 138 combat' >.<

 

I regret ever having 'honour' while pk'ing. This one came to me recently. There have been so many damn times when the opponent pulls out a korasi or claws and i'm 10hp. Instead of hitting the teletab, i eat a food and hope i get the 1/10 chance of not being killed. I could have saved quite a few whips over the years had i realised this sooner.

 

 

Theres more, but i think the one person in the world that will read this has had enough by now. (Although i suppose this is a good lesson for the newbies, don't learn from your mistakes, learn from other people's.)

I had a Santa hat for a few weeks. Bought at 30m, sold around the same price. Couple months later, people figured out junk trading, and today that hat could have funded a fair few 99s :cry:

At one point i was gonna sell my 13m bank to buy a santa but i didn't think it was worth it, really should've thought that one through.

Rock Climbing boots would be my biggest regret. I would've been so rich if I had sold a few thousand pairs. I'll tell you a short story.

 

So it was early June 2010, I think. My friend asked me if I wanted to go on a Godwars trip the Zamorak General's lair, right. I'm like "Sure, that sounds cool." So I geared up for the trip, only to find out that I didn't have the requirements to wear climbing boots because I didn't finish the Death Plateau quest. My friends went on without me lol. >.> That would've been my first trip to Godwars, and with a team, too. I started Death Plateau and finished in maybe an hour or two, talking to my other friend whilst completing it. I knew I needed climbing boots for my eventual Godwars trip (friend said we'd be hosting one the Saturday after) and so I went to Tenzig up in the mountains to buy some boots.

 

They were only 12gp each, so I thought I should take several pairs, 'cause why not. I briefly thought to myself that I should purchase around 1000 pairs of boots, 'cause they were so cheap and I like having large quantities of cheap things, but I decided against it. Instead, I bought myself only ten pairs of boots. I was satisfied with my purchase, and never thought to purchase additional pairs after that. Three weeks later, climbing boots update. All existing climbing boots renamed to rock climbing boots, and their value explodes. I sell my ten pairs of boots for a lousy 450K and manage to refund the 500K I spent on an expensive Angel of Death gravestone. Satisfied? Not anymore. >.>

 

If only I had bought 1000 pairs of those boots. I would've had several tens of millions to spend... :(

 

Oh, and my friends canceled the Godwars trip that week after too <_<

Not updating my internet explorer. Somehow not doing that let a hacker into my info and let him steal my account? That's the best I could understand what happened. Lost a lot of rares. Most of the other stuff wasn't worth much. Then a friend let me borrow her red phat, cuz she said it looked weird to see me without mine on, and I got hacked again. RAGE

Selling 5 blue masks, buying a saradomin godsword and dragonfire shield then not logging in for 9 months, when I came back, I was significantly poorer than I was and could've been.

1.) Taking my blue p-hat to Troll Plateau a few months after it came out. I lagged out near the thrower trolls and died. I was kind of mad then (yeah, stupid me), but I've even more mad now that I see how much they've skyrocketed.

 

2.) Refusing to trade a dragon square for a red p-hat and a red mask :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

 

3.) Selling a yellow p-hat for about 6M.

 

Edit: I also sold two santa's for 150K each.

Lol, as with most everyone else here, my regrets have to do with rares.

The biggest of which was having ~4m in cash when Santa Hats were 100-200k each...

Probably moreso and more recently, selling my yellow when it was around 100m to afford extremes... :mellow:

Sold countless rares. I currently have none.

 

For example, I boughtmy yellow when they were ~150m. They dropped to 90-100m. I sold it because I really needed cash. That was the lowest price they ever reached (interval from maybe a year before I bought it until the present).

 

I traded a purple partyhat for a whip. (Yes, they were the same price at one point, ~12m)

 

I've also had mask sets, tons of santas, had piles of disks and pumpkins when they were only a few hundred k each... but got bored and sold them off.

 

So yeah, not as rich as I should be.
