Double Nomad Challenge!

Cheefoo

Recommended Posts

Hey I'm going to try the two-Nomads-in-a-row challenge, and I was wondering if I could have some pointers when it comes to gear to bring. Here are my stats:

99 attack

98 strength

93 defence

98 constitution

99 magic

85 ranged

85 prayer

91 summoning

88 herblore

I have a chaotic rapier as well as Karil's armor, a fire cape, amulet of fury and some other stuff... Any ideas on what I should bring, or if I could do it at all with my stats (no overloads or ss/turmoil)? Any hints would be much appreciated, but keep in mind I can't afford really expensive gear like Torva, Pernix etc.

P.S. Is it possible I could only beat the first Nomad in the special challenge and it would still unlock goliath gloves?

P.P.S. Oh, and I don't have dragon claws... but I'd gladly accept donations (or just a borrow)!

Void, max strength gear, rapier + defender, bgs for specs. You must beat both Nomads for it to count.

You should pray protect from melee on Nomad's berserker stage only.

Since you do not have good fighting familiars, go with war tortoise and unicorn. Bring brews and restores, 3:1. That's all.

You can practice by just aiming to kill the first nomad, with, say, a few brews/restored and a lot of scorpion meat. Once you can do that, fill up on brews and restores including a tort as Enaid said and go for both.

I did it all in full void melee + rapier, ovl, turm and ss, with no familiar and a single inventory of brews and super restores. I had some to spare afterwards.

Useful, given that he doesn't have overloads, turmoil, or soul spit.

Thanks for the advice! I think I'm pretty confident I could do this with my stats. I'll probably start trying tomorrow morning, wish me luck!

And about overloads, exactly how useful are they really? Seeing as you're going to be chugging down brews against Nomad, does the full overload boost really come in effect all that often? Of course having overloads is better than not, but I'm thinking it might not have as much an impact on the fight against Nomad as people believe?

If it were me, i'd swap the uni for a spirit kyatt and plenty of ambush scrolls. It may not be more efficient in terms of suriving, but the increased killspeed will make a fail take a lot less time so you can see if you get close and try again. Melee void > karils for the same reason.

If you're doing it just to unlock the gloves and don't want a challenge, bring help horns. Each one = 1100hp of healing per inventory slot without draining stats and would really give you a huge advantage over not having them.

Soulsplit the entire fight, i don't believe protection prayers work on any stage. (If they do, it's difficult to see, so it may be even less helpful than SS anyway) Oops just noticed you don't have SS, just use piety then.

BGS for spec. If you hit poorly on your first spec i'd recommend just dieing and starting again until you get a decent hit, as it really does help and you don't lose anything by doing it.

Overloads boost stats every 15 seconds. If you time your brews to be 1 second before overload boost comes in, then you''d always be at full stats unless you drink 3 brew doses. Of course, that's really hard, but you get used to timing it so that your stats are full most of the time. And either way, it means you don't need restores except for prayer, and the occasional 3-brews-in-15-second-span.

Protect melee works on last stages. Melee void is shit here without ovls and turm.

How is melee void shit without them? Considering your defense doesn't affect his attacks in the slightest until his berserker mode.

Magic soak helps on his all-but-one-HP attack and mage def seems to make his hits less frequent

The corp beast, is, well, just a corp beast. He doesnt even have any friends.

[spoiler=Other Quotes]tbh idk why this makes me laugh so hard

All DFS threads turn into efficiency flame wars >.>

>OP asks "why use DFS?"

>everyone says "there is no reason"

>someone says "stop bashing people who use DFS, efficiency troll ass clown"

>thread is now a flame fest

No. You don't.

Because we all know one fight means everything. I destroyed a guy with a Cmaul while I used Goliath Gloves, with more than half my food left. Guess that means Goliath gloves are twice as good as Cmaul using your logic.

Actually watched the video...how can you can compare a rapier fight with a "spork" fight? Also, the second one used a full inventory from the Yak, and he was using armour. Get some valid videos next time?

Go fight Nomad with Karil's, then with Rune, and tell us your results.

In the two videos Happy gave, you can compare brews consumed over time, which really shouldn't be too hard to do.

Hey, I managed to beat them yesterday morning, using a void setup. I tried Karils, but it kinda sucked. Also, the soak didn't seem to work on any of his attacks. Thanks to A Local Girl (Guy?) for letting me borrow a Bandos godsword. I probably couldn't have won without it! I kinda got down to the wire with a few brews left.

P.S. Sorry I couldn't respond earlier, I kinda sprained my ankle later that day and didn't get much of a chance. You can all stop bickering now and lock this thread. Thanks for all the advice, though!

I've fought him with Void and with Karils, no difference. The only thing that does make a noticeable difference is defense level. Not armor, which is why you go for max offensive bonuses.

And no, you really cannot compare the two, maybe give them both the same weapons and have everything minus the armor the same. Even then like I said, one example means nothing. I destroyed a guy with a Cmaul while I used Goliath Gloves and had more than half food left, therefore, by the logic of comparing one item, Goliath Gloves must be twice as good.

Yup, because slinging disparging comments like that makes you the epitome of genius.

Happy knows his MHing stuff, so you really should pay attention when he talks.

Thank you very much.

I know for a fact damage soaking works as I did the Double Nomad challenge earlier this week and I got hit roughly 820s on his Freeze attack, whereas I should normally be hit 929's as my constitution level is 93 (I was wearing Armadyl's as I was pure ranging him).

@OP: You're going to have a lot of trouble if you either don't have a Yak or don't have Soul Split. I was Soul Splitting both Nomad's non-melee forms and I only just barely made it out alive killing the second. And that was with roughly 40 brews (barely as in 200 LP and not a single brew dose left - my heart was pounding). Still, I can happily say I maintain my track record of never having lost to Nomad.
