I've had it. this is bullshit to the Nth degree. 159 NIGHT SPIDERS= 0 HOODS, 76 DUNGEONEERING. WHAT. THE. [bleep]. JAGEX?

This is frustrating me so [bleep]ing much, I managed to find 2 in 20 kills on my pure, but my main? NOOOOOOOOOOOO, it's like some divine force does not want me to have one!

I got my first hood at 89 dungeoneering. It sucks, I know. It's worth noting, however, that you can dg perfectly well without one, it just requires more intelligent use of prayer. I just broke my hood for a plate. :)

79 DG and still no hood. (Although I could wind up with 80 either tonight or sometime during the day.)

The fact you've counted them implies you're hunting for it. Stop, because that road will only lead to plenty of frustration.

Just DG normally and eventually, it'll come.

A hood gets deactivated by mages, which are in a LOT of rooms. Meaning everything in the room which is humanoid will attack you with a hood.

If you have a plate as a bind, you get attacked by everything automatically, but you have a lot of defence bonuses because of the plate. If you have a hood bound, you don't get the defence bonus of the plate.

A hood is just a neat thing to have.

The general rule of thumb is that hoods are better in GDs and plates are better while pathing. Ultimately you'll get better xp/h with a hood, but you can come close with a plate, and plates can potentially speed up your floors if you're pathing and praying intelligently. Plates are also better when soloing GDs and doing most puzzles (with the exception of emotes and 2nd page sarc room).

You should read Tui's mapreading and pathing guide on xp-waste and Maz's guide in the AOW. It'll indirectly help you cope with not having a hood by introducing knowledge and factors that are more important to your xp/h and the speed of your floors.

I think I got my first at 88 dg or something like that. No point in frustrating over it, it will come when it comes, it's not that rare.

that. Also, I got mine at 84. Don't stress out over it too much

Honestly, just bind a plate or something with high defense and dont be like hardcore hood hunting. Thats what I did for like a month, but then a week or two after not caring about the hood, I got the hood randomly with a group of friends. Just wait I guess, it will come

I've got a prom plate bound atm, I know it's good but having the hood would help because I want to start learning how to key floors.

For the designated keyer in a more average team, the plate will benefit you more than a hood.

lol ok automatically jump to the assumption that I'm trolling. You realize this is a rant thread about night spiders right?

About night spiders, a slayer monster in Daemonheim, not dropping their unique slayer drop when killed. Not about dying due to poison damage, which can be acquired from any spider in DG and is not specific to night spiders. Also, I've never heard that astrals are a waste of time and most teams I've been in people at least make a few.

Back on topic, sucks that you haven't gotten a drop, but I it's usually not best to camp something continuously for a drop because then large dropless streaks get noticed and it will usually stress you out.

Yeah I hate Night Spiders, must have killed at least 50-60 (with teams as well) and I haven't seen a single drop. Just yesterday while I was in a dungeon I was low on health and had no food, teled to ggs and got killed by 2 zombies because they didn't attack my hooded teammates. <_<
